Rebuild of a one owner 1970 Firebird Formula 400.
Making and Donating Face Shields
Alright so 3rd time trying this...
We saw the lack of PPE for healthcare providers and decided to use our 3D printer to make face shields. All the face shields we make are being donated to hospitals and healthcare facilities. If you would like to help please consider donating to our GoFundMe www.gofundme.com/f/36qb7b-face-shields-for-healthcare-heroes?+share-sheet

So, what's the plan for this 1970 Firebird Formula 400? I've got a few ideas on what I'd like the end result to be.

What did you ever do with the firebird?
my second car was a 73 firebird had a pontiac 350ci with 400 trans it wasnt a formula but put a formula hood on it.got in alot of trouble with that car and fun as well had up to 135mph
I love tese cars, thanks for sharing, great presentation, and good luck with your build, I look forward to seeing it finished
Good video
WOW your hubs fabbed up those supports?!?! That's not easy. Awesome job.
all cars after 72 were just regulated computer controlled peices of JUNK , non functioning vents scoops low compression big block , even told car companys they couldnt put the 160mph speedo , in them , up till then WE AMERICANS DROVE ART , made from steel, speed shifting , ground pounding art , take your time make it your masterpeice congrats , its got to last another fify years ,& ya they r CRAZY FAST , been there done that ,
bird is the word, my first car at 16, 67' red black interior 4spd, 326 H.o. firebird, fell asleep -went thru a telephone pole at 55mph, never saw it again , bought a 1 of 54 70' 1/2 blue on white ram air 4, 4spd, 12boltimited slip , m22 rock crusher, nothing , nothing could take that car, dad was pontiac mech for 27years, we had new pontiac s everywhere, took my licsense at 16 in our 428HO 69' catalina it never got beat either, our 65 tri power goat , i saw it back off the car carrior , WOW the hole town was there to see&hear it, u need to see my 72FORMULA 400, TO MUCH DONE , MY WAY , keep that engine, when refreshed , and detailed , is the best looking engine to DATE, , & the first L.S. that challenges you, race him light to light , for PINK SLIPS , see how scared that makes them ,
Are you guys still building this car is it done do you want to sell it?
This is certainly a rare car. I love seeing them get restored. They were a car before its time. To me it's most beautiful with its curves and body style with the just the right hood scoops. A great build to share as well. Hope you guys had fun. I love to see now. Being this is 3 years.
Bueller? ............Bueller? Really interested in seeing progress.
Did you finish it?
was it sold or do you have it?
Was never updated. No telling what happened to it!
Hope to see more, dont get stalled out! lots of people pulling for you guys!
That is lot of rust for a desert car. Still worthy of repair. Just needs patience and love and you'll get there.
Anymore progress on the Firebird
*You and your husband must be very special .. Go see a 1973 w/g Hurst/Olds .. There's only 22 of 1097 left ..*
I had a 71 formula clone 400 four speed I killed the 2 nd gear synchros and put a m22 rock crusher the car was a different animal after that I loved my car and I really want another one that’s why I’m here watching this
Totally want more of this build!! I want a 70-73 Firebird, my wife wants a 67-70 C10, I plan on us restoring them ourselves.
Are you going to make it a manual
Looking good! Great work on fabbing the A pillars. Working on a 72 bird myself that sat since 94. Keep posting!!!
What's the story to date???
Red, Green or Blue are good colors on those cars.
Gosh....just got here ( a year late)....was excited to see the 1st vid......but im disappointed there are no updates???....what has happened to this build???....
Thank u so very much for keeping a PONTIAC V8 in there. Just a suggestion on the transmission. Depending on if u decide to go on the freeway ( and watching people drooling at u'r "Awesome car") u may want an overdrive transmission. A GM or TCI 6L80e would give u better gas mileage and save some wear & tear on that Poncho V8. Even a cheaper 700r4 may help in the gas mileage. No matter what u do, thank u for bringing PONTIAC EXCITEMENT back onto the road. 🏁 👍😃👍
You should see the '72 Firebird I own. I'm the third owner and the car is drivable, tagged and legal. I'm on disability and can't afford to restore my baby I've owned 22 years and had admired since 1978. I'm thinking about taking offers. I won't give it away! There's a lot of original Pontiac there.
I am not a fan of black, thinking back to those days the ones that always caught my attention were the yellows or orange. Have you had any progress in the last year?
From one car chick to another, THANK YOU for saving this beautiful piece of Pontiac history!! I've loved these cars since I was 13, when I rode in my aunt's Iroc lol soooo, I myself own the sister car to yours, a 1988 Iroc Z, looking for a Firebird now. Good luck and be safe!! Congrats!!
he ignition
. She is a Formula .Norwood strike .A 72 but sold as a73.Got frame off .350.30 years .Be done next year. 455 maybe but 350 sat lower and is lighter.A Cherry baby.Been though same path .Good luck .
Any formula 400 is worth restoring. Why on earth would that car get left to rot. I road in one exactly like your car and it’s an amazing car. Oh and crazy fast.
I purchased a 70 formula 400 ram air lll 4 speed with a/c 12 bolt 355 posi in 1982 kept it till 1995 sold it .. dummies that bought wrapped it around utility pole about center of passenger door!!
I bought a 75 formula a few years back and immediately realized it was too much rust for me sold it and found a 1972 455 garage queen with no rust good luck to yoy & your husband it's a lot of determination in that project but will be well worth it when done
Glad its being rebuilt. When its done it will be worth big $$$$$$$ These are getting harder to find. Dont sell it. I need to put my 70 together also LOL
Anymore videos of this build?
I saw this car years ago "in situ" when I visited Jack. I'm glad you rescued it! Coronado Gold is the color. I always said those A pillars were done for but it's going to look great, I'll bet. Lots of kudos to you.
1970 was the last year for Firebirds to come equipped with the GM 12 bolt rear ends 👍 !
Where are the rest of the videos? It's been a year?!
More vids of the build please 👍😁👍 and maybe where you get some of the parts.. Restomod , nos etc Here in UK it's hard to get parts for these beauties (I have 1974 455 formula similar cond to yours but it's been mine for 30 years 😬🙄). No excuses, life is busy and space is tight.
Brewster Green metallic 👍👍👍.. Satin gold wheels 😁
Any vehicle stored with water in the system will either gel or rot. Always drain if stored for long periods. This is a great video, so lucky you can now get most of the parts (reman).
First comment.. The best I ever heard. 🚙🚘👍
You got very lucky on the condition find of that bird . im jealous. But jealous of the good vibe
Where do you get the parts for this car . my father has one . its a 1970 firebird 400 espirit
how much did u pay for it? there's lots of 400's for sale out there, I'm looking for a 455
if youi build the engine, address the oiling issues pontiac v8's have.they often spin bearings and have oil starvation problems.
How’s the Firebird
Any updates on this ‘bird?
