I have to say that there is something of a problem with people being so determined to oppose perceived microaggressions that they shut down discussion of culture or personal situations, as if the choice of words is _more_ important than the meanings. Emphasising form _over_ content (and please pay attention to my emphasis here) drives people with unsavoury views to using more heavily coded language, and misses the opportunity to actually confront the problematic beliefs and attitudes themselves. If (for example) you encourage people to say, quote, “the n-word” you miss the opportunity to ask them what the hell they mean by using the actual n-word, while still _actively perpetuating_ racism in the fundamentally corrosive sense of the pervasive assumption that “race” should somehow be the high order bit for all social analysis. Actually, it's a parochial cultural concept that could use more examination and public deconstruction, not less. Such words _should_ be discussed, or we'll never get deprogrammed. This is not to argue with your analysis, or to say that there is not an important place for “political correctness” or more generally being aware of issues and minding your tongue like a decent human being. But _formulaic_ application of rules actually plays into the hands of those who are actively looking for rules to exploit. And if someone tells an edgy joke, it is truly worthwhile considering their motivation before deplatforming them. Maybe they're an actual enemy-but it's also possible they have something important for us to think about. In truth I've learned a lot from thinking about superficially offensive jokes told by people I _know_ are thoughtful and decent and prove it in their lives. The slope does not have to be so slippery if we are, well, more woke. Or?

So I'm secretly the only non Trump supporter on my labor force.... And I feel like I have to be quiet or they will team up on me and the dynamic around the workplace will be completely different.... Unfortunately my dad has fallen down this pipeline, he's a great person outside of his politics and it breaks my heart with some of the horrible shit he says. His sister is the polar opposite of him and I honestly have nothing else to blame but his internet use. He used to be much less bigoted. I hope one day he can de-radicalize himself or maybe I can but he's stubborn af. I put this in my Watch Later five years ago, and I've finally gotten to it. The part about how liberals always come down on the side of fascism sounds even sillier now than this would have sounded back when this was made. Unless you're doing a sleight of hand where you have a private definition of "liberal", almost nobody who sees themselves as liberal has come down on the side of fascism, and normie libs are probably the most reliable voting bloc against them in the US.

Watching all of this get worse since at least 2016 has been simultaneously depressing, terrifying, and frustrating. I'm a disabled trans woman stuck in the UK as it moves further to the right, knowing that my life is increasingly in danger and there's little chance of my escaping. People not listening to our warnings has been exhausting, and it's sad that this video will probably remain relevant for at least another few years.

the point you make around 20:00 of "someone else will take their place, the issue is the system not the people" is something we see corroborated in the war on drugs, where the government focused on "people shouldn't do drugs" instead of "why do people do drugs, and how can we address those reasons to reduce drug use?"

I’ve been leftist all my life and I’ve also been interested in history, when I was in middle school I started watching memes about history and countries and it took me longer than I care to admit to realize how bigoted that account was. I am forever grateful to my parents for opening my eyes to it before I really got sucked into the pipeline. Beware of history memes.

I was pretty young (like, middle school) when the whole PewDiePie vs. T-Series thing was going on, and, as an Indian person, it got to the point where I was being asked at lunch time if I was betraying India for being subscribed to PewDiePie and if I liked T-Series better just because I was Indian. I told them that I'd never heard of PewDiePie (I hadn't, I didn't have internet access because my parents were strict about such things) and I only knew what T-Series was because my mother liked to watch Bollywood music on the channel. This proceeded to turn directly into, in the later years, a lot of my white classmates calling Indian people names or even slurs, to the point where I would throw my lunch in the trash before sitting down because it was always cultural food that my grandmother would pack each morning. It makes me feel sick now, especially considering how much I genuinely enjoyed and do still enjoy being a member of my culture and having this rich heritage, but, as a 'gifted' autistic kid who presented as very nerdy in my younger years, I honestly felt like I did fall right into a lot of stereotypes, which were... often paired with a lot of really mean jokes that made me feel insecure about myself well into my teenage years. Suffice to say, this stuff does have an impact.
