    I really appreciate you addressing resets since at least for me, it’s one of the tougher shots to master. But I have to say, the ease of the shots you were given to reset were not realistic. Need guidance on shots that are hit HARD at your feet and you have to absorb all that energy to get it into the kitchen without popping in up. I get a lot of those and I’m far from mastering them. Thanks.

  • @elisabetharnold7438

    I am so confused about the doubles serving/scoring: 1)Does each side always start on the right side no matter what the score (for example: if your score is 3 - 5, does server #1 start on the right-hand side?) 2)Or do you start the serve on the right or left dependent on the score - right/even and left/odd thereby making server #1 whoever starts the serve dependent on the serve on the right or the left? 3)After server #1 serves and loses and the serve is passed to server #2, then does server #2 serve from the box where they currently are or do they move to the box where server #1 was? Your Bonus Tips says, “It gets confusing but remember this, the first server in the game for each team will be on the right side when they have an even score and on the left side when their score is odd." I don't understand how this works if the first serve after a side out is on the right-hand side no matter what the score is??

    • @piql
      @piql Před rokem

      Hi. The score is not relevant. After a side out, the partner who is on the right side becomes server #1 and they will serve first from the right. If they get a point then they serve from the left and so on. They only change sides when they score a point. When the serve goes to server #2, they first serve from where they are. Remember sometimes you'll be server 1, sometimes you'll be server 2. It is simply determined by who is on the right after the sideout.

      @@piql Huge thanks - that makes so much sense!! I would change your Bonus Tip for Doubles Scoring as it is very confusing - Your Bonus Tips says, “It gets confusing but remember this, the first server in the game for each team will be on the right side when they have an even score and on the left side when their score is odd."! From the tip it sounds like the score is relevant and directs which side to start serving after a side out.

  • @garybergeron3282
    @garybergeron3282 Před rokem

    This is so confusing, one of your comments below contradicts what one of the slides says? Please answer this question. My doubles team has just one side out, I am standing in the even (right) side of the court, which makes me first server. I announce the score as 7 - 5 - 1, am I serving from the right side of the court or the left side of the court.

    • @piql
      @piql Před rokem

      You will serve from the right side in your example since you were on the right at the time of the side-out. If you win the point when you serve, you switch with your partner, and serve from the left side for the next serve and announce 8-5-1. If you don't win the point, stay where you are, your partner will serve from where they are (the left) and announce 7-5-2.

    • @piql
      @piql Před rokem

      The server's number can potentially change after each side-out. It is determined by whichever player is on the right at the time of the side-out. They will be server 1 for that sequence.

    • @michaelpoindexter8886

      @@piql - What is the "server number"? There is no definition for that term in the rule book.

    • @piql
      @piql Před rokem

      It is one or two, depending on who was on the right or left after the side out. Per the USA Pickleball official rulebook. 4.J. Calling the Score in Doubles Matches. The score is called as three numbers in doubles matches. The proper sequence for calling the score is: serving team’s score - receiving team’s score - the server number (one or two), (e.g., “zero - one - one”). To start each game, the score will be called as “zero - zero - two.”

    • @michaelpoindexter8886

      @@piql - So Second Server can become First Server? When? I've never seen it happen. Why does anyone care if the first or second server returns to their designated side after stacking if their their server number can change? Why have a wrist band designating Second Server when the Second Server can change his server number to First Server and Frist Server can change his number to Second Server? Why can't anyone provide a link and frame location number in a video where Frist and Second Server's have switched server numbers? 3.A.34. Second Server - In doubles, the first server’s partner. The second server serves after the first server loses serve. 3.A.12. First Server - In doubles, the player who shall serve from the right/even service court after a side out, according to the team’s score.

    • @piql
      @piql Před rokem

      Correct, it happens frequently throughout the course of any game. The rule you highlighted (3.A.12) explains that the player on the right/even side AFTER A SIDE OUT becomes the First Server (server one). In the video doubles scoring begins at 3:07 and at 6:46 we recap key things to remember as it relates to your server number. The wristbands you mentioned are to indicate who served first to START the game. The first server of the game for each team will be on the right side when they have an even score and on the left side when their score is odd.

  • @eh4236
    @eh4236 Před rokem

    Is this correct....In other words if the score is 2-2-1, what side does the first team serve from? They serve from the deuce or right side. If the score is 3-2-1, what side does the first team serve from? it would be the left or ad side because their score is 3 or odd. If the score was 3-2-2, the second server of the team serves from the ad/left side. Where to start serving in each rotation/side out is not determined by the TOTAL of the score between the two teams but the individual team score, correct? So for example, let's say team 1 has scored 3 points and team 2 has scored 5 points. Both teams have an odd number/score: 3 and 5. Even though the total score between the 2 teams equals 8, an even number, in this rotation/sideout, what side should the first server serve from first then? Thanks

    • @piql
      @piql Před rokem

      Think about it a little differently for Doubles. After a side-out the first serve will ALWAYS be on the right side. The server will be whichever partner is on the right side at that point in time (this can change during the game, sometimes you may be Server 1, other times you may be server 2). Partners switch positions whenever they score a point which can only occur when your team is serving. Once Server 1 faults, then the second partner serves from wherever they are located at that point in time as Server 2. Here is an example, don't worry about the score. Matt and Kim are partners. Matt is on the right and Kim is on the left and the other team is serving. A side-out occurs and now Matt and Kim get their turn to serve. Since Matt is on the right at the time of the side-out, he will be Server 1 for this sequence and will serve first from the right side. Let's say Matt does not get a point, then Kim will serve from the left side as Server 2. Now let's say Kim gets a point, then Matt and Kim will switch and Kim will now serve from the right side. Let's say she faults, it is a side-out and the other team will serve. Kim will remain on the right side and Matt will remain on the left side while they receive serve. After the next side-out when they get to serve again, Kim will now become Server 1 and will serve from the right side where she was located. Hope this helps, have fun out there!

    • @juliehenry351
      @juliehenry351 Před rokem

      IN SINGLES: Even serves from right, odd from left. IN DOUBLES, after a sideout of both of the opponents service, the new serving team will always have the player on the RIGHT side be the first server of this service round, regardless of even or odd score. You will find a pattern of the fact that if a score is even, the initial first server should be on the right if you followed the correct pattern of switching sides and same person serving after each rally won by the serving team.

  • @WildBill1120
    @WildBill1120 Před 2 lety

    The rules say serving side is dictated by whether the score is even or odd. If the score is 0-1-1 and the team that has zero just got a side out and get to serve… server 1 from the team that has zero serves from the right (even side) hits the ball into the net… does server 2 serve from the right side again? (Because their score is an even number). 🤔

    • @piql
      @piql Před 2 lety

      Thanks for your question. In your example, server 2 would serve from the left side since the team did not get a point. Partners would only switch when a point is scored. A good way to remember is that the first server in the game for each team will be on the right side whenever their team has an even score.
