@@hisSTORYF1 we were watching from the hill over Turn 3 and in those days, the inside of the turn had an earth bank and bushes, obscuring his view. We could see cars streaming down the hill from Turn 1 into 2, and screamed wildly at him to stop, but of course the noise was huge....we knew Hunt was dazed because he left a shoe in the cockpit. It was frightening, but he sat on the outer retaining wall later and put his arm around the marshal.

@@hisSTORYF1 I had paddock and pit passes, but you couldn't get near Hunt. Surrounded by pretty girls, constantly. And he seemed to spend less time in the garages, he sort of arrived, drove practice, then left. So I never met him, but he was popular with the fans...

@@hisSTORYF1 Hey no worries at all, it was a great video. I've watched F1 since 1985 and have followed and loved many backmarker teams and drivers. I have an real love/hate relationship with pay drivers. While I have supported many in the 80s and 90s, I think from 2000 onwards it became ridiculously stupid with just anyone with money getting in the sport. It's sad because many drivers missed their opportunities in F1 due to it. In addition, I never liked it because so many F3 and later GP2 champions were denied seats due to a lower classified driver paying their way to F1. It devalues the GP2/F3 championships when someone who doesn't win the championship can make the jump to F1 instead of the champion himself. There is a lot the FIA and the World Motorsport Council can do to improve this but they let it continue. Like Mick Schumacher, Logan Sergeant, Latifi. Too little talent, too much money behind them and in Mick's case. A name more than abilities. I've seen it all too often and people complaining about Haas dropping Mick. He was not ready for F1. It's sad really because we do miss out on a lot of potential talent due to it. How to fix it? I think teams should have a third car and the sprint race is raced by 1 driver per team, their reserve. Not a Sunday driver. This helps team oversee who is talented and allow these reserve drivers to not go years without a drive because they're waiting for their call up which most often never comes.

@@Shanakar WOW, I like the 3rd car idea. Sort of a development car but the points still count towards the constructors title. It's sad that the likes of Latifi and Stroll could buy a drive but someone like Robert Shwartzman has to race in lower formulae, just the financial realities of the sport i guess. That certainly is a good point. The money someone like Latifi brought to Williams certainly helped keep the legendary F1 team going during some tough times

@@hisSTORYF1 yes absolutely. I was extremely lucky to go to 15 grand Prix in my life time with dad . I grew up watching F1 in 1979. There were lots of characters around in those days . Sadly we don't have that now . Watching the Japanese grand Prix today I was a bit bored to be honest. But yes James was one in a million and sorley missed

I can say I was a very big fan of his father for many years. My favourite driver was Senna and his father has cried after Sennas death and secondly Senna has beaten him. So I have great respect for Michael and will always have. Mick is on a totally different level. I think his crashes, the most expensive ones every year are a danger for everyone around him. So the best he can do is test driving so he is no living danger.
