Lachlan Morton hasn’t killed the Spirit of Gravel, Lifetime Grand Prix has. The 1hr highlights coverage package is terrible. So hyped, so frustrating not to be able to watch more of the actual races, too much focus on the commentators and above all, too much focus on the elite top 10. ...The Spirit of Gravel is the 99% of participants who are not in the elite races. The coverage of Unbound should be 50/50 divided between the elite races and the general participants, to celebrate the true Spirit of Gravel ...which is participation. This is what Unbound is built on. The coverage should be less broken and more cohesive, showing more of the actual racing. The commentary is presented as if we have watched the whole race, when in reality we see only snippets inserted amidst commentator hype. Very disappointing coverage, especially given the whole race is filmed by vehicle and chopper. Currently the hype is more important than the actual overall event. This is what's killing the Spirit of Gravel, not the elite riders, who are all awesome. …But no more awesome than every other finisher, who is competing with themselves and enjoying being part of the Spirit of Gravel.

You two are naive beyond belief. What did Greg say? Power curve to rpm on the climb. Empirical science is there to prove doping evidentially. History is there to prove the probability. Just ask your namesake David Walsh and read L A Confidential. Pogacar is in my view a doper. I know the history of cycling well and it is synonymous with doping from strychnine to steroids to EPO and beyond.

What does Benji know? He never was doped to his gills in a brutal late summer La Vuelta to win it all at the ripe old age of 42, the perfect age to start winning Grand tours. Your point would be valid if these doped riders turned "expert analysis" men actually told the truth about what was going on when riders get back from a rest day and are suddenly the latest "miracle", full of new bags of blood and vials of EPO. Instead of just babbling on and on about putting rivals to the sword.

JP: you don't need any of the stuff that they've been going over for the last 9min. In the beginning, wear what you're comfortable with. IF you decide to race AND you're at the pointy end vying for wins, then do what the pros do. I still wear mtn shoes, but there seems to be a trend for road pedals and shoes. You'll want to run lower pressures than you ever thought. There are a couple pressure calculators that work well, but you'll still need to experiment HTH

In road you don’t attack in the feed zone, gravel don’t care. As for the Gravel World champion, well, when will we see a real course that reflects real gravel? Lachlan is definitely the spirit of gravel. He wore what he wanted in spite of what people thought, he drank beer the night before, He rode the Continental Divide for fun and stages of the TDF in freakin sandals. He didn't have any teammates like Keegan or Moric. He had a coach, but told the coach what he wanted to do. Quit racing road because it sucks and basically is a dirtbag biker just cruising around. He went the wrong way. And he still beat everybody. That's gravel. Experimenting with what works best for you is gravel. He wanted to try an aero helmet? It's no different than trying a snickers bar at mile 90. It's the lack of rules that is gravel, not making people conform to what you think gravel should be. Saying he can't wear aero socks and an aero helmet is the opposite of the spirit. If he wants to ride a huffy with unicorns on it and a clown wig, that's gravel. If the point is to go slow by wearing and using the slowest gear possible like some people want to do, then the spirit of gravel is no different than to just sit in the parking lot and talk about what it would be like to actually go somewhere. Complainers are just jealous he had the balls to try stuff first. It's just choices. He didn't try harder than others, he just didn't stick to the status quo, which is literally what gravel is about.

are yah dating keegan already? did lachy give yah the brush off years ago? c'mon love, lachy pasted the boys - he did what he aways does and he knew something - he knew just how hard it is to make speed atop such chunky gravel. the difference between his move this year and others is not the people behind him - it's not that they couldn't make up their minds - because when they did, the group parsed quickly down exponentially as the miles dwindled... No it wasn't what happened or did not happen behind that allowed morton to win, it is that lachy did not falter. he finally is in a space inside where he can finish what he starts. that's what happened. crashes - there were crashes and you and others have said it was because it was a bit crowded and nervous - but more than that, it was that they were all trying to push it to catch the leaders over really really chunky stuff and there is a terminal velocity over that stuff - people were pushing the physics envelope er boy keegan included - lachlan figured that out = note the size tires he started using last year - before everyone else... much love and much respect to you and yer channel.

I'm thinking it may be a mechanical advantage that enables him to quickly separate from everyone else. Look at his attack on La Redoute in L-B-L. There's a closeup of his hands on the hoods as he accelerates, but one of his thumbs is on top of the shifter in an unnatural position and he's pressing it down repeatedly. Once he gains his big separation he cannot be seen doing it again. He also did the same thing in the Giro last month. I'd love to think I'm imagining it, but....

Along with Alex Dowsett’s, I think Dan’s book is one of the best cycling autobiographies I’ve ever read. Far from the usual anodyne account of a career, it’s a much more open and honest account of life as a pro, as well as the personalities within the sport. Well worth a read.

Class rider!, was one of my most gutting moments watching cycling when he crashed out at the finish of LBL! was always enjoyable seeing him race, much more relatable than the vast majority.

I've been cycling on the road for 50 years and it's definitely gotten a lot more dangerous out there. Today, there are way more people on the road then when I first started, and they all seem to be in a real big hurry. I believe most think the roads were made for motor vehicles and bicyclists shouldn't be there. Now, to make matters worse, the drivers are constantly distracted by their digital devices. I have to say that many people are still curtious and they give me sufficient room, but there are still those few that are mean spirited and reckless in their actions. Today I try to spend as much time as possible on dedicated paths that are farther away from car traffic because I fear that my luck will run out soon and things aren't getting better.

Thanks for the video and the session! I watched a video with Matt Beers who also trains with John. From this point in the video he speaks about his Metabolic interval training session. When he focuses on using lactic acid as fuel, "buffer" lactic acid". I am wondering if anyone knows at which zone, it is FatMax that he is riding at most of this workout before he does his 10-20 hard effort in the end? Also does anyone know if he is eating anything before and during these workouts? czcams.com/video/vAaoIbG54ig/video.htmlsi=WejheWrt16yAYNQz&t=404

Tyler seems like such a humble guy and many bike racers from that era definitely suffered from their poor decisions.

  • @leonardobaracchi7040

Tyler is a nice guy, but forgiving, even in the most.totalizing way (a christian way.i would say),doesnt mean necessarily to say "wow he is cool, isupport him!"... This is being stupid or naive at.best in my opinion. Everybody should behave well, people like armstrong are a cancer to the world. We can say a murderer is a murderer because of his childhood, but still we have to condemn him, otherwise how about our society? Our community??

  • @leonardobaracchi7040

The excuse of saying: the doctor did, for it was his role, otherwise someone else would have done.... Well, it doenst work with me, for in my opinion you should say: no, im not doing this, let someone else do it, but im not. If everybody think lime this, no one is doing it. However theres a difference between proper doctors (ferrari, even if he is evilish) and random doctors who can create massive health problems to athletes (just think about pdm....). But still there is cheating to become more than you are, theres cheating just for youre the best, but you would finish mid-group if not doping, and doping foolishly, endangering your health. I never heard so much of hamiltons words, for in my opinion he is not the smartest guy out there, and he is pretty naive. But he is a really nice and hinest guy! And this is probably why he fell completely into "the system". So not like pantani (the phenomenon once in a gen) doping to regain his place where he deserved, amd not like armstrong (doping contiously to become the best even being the worse of the peloton)

  • @leonardobaracchi7040

Conconi Is some 85yrs old... Anyway conconi Is a different case for i think he was more into studying the effects, and trying to reach the best, not with the aim of cheating or getting superrich... Ferrari Is there formoney instead, and conconi cut any connection with him already in the '80

  • @leonardobaracchi7040

After Hinault we had two fenomena, two of those "One in a generation": Lemond and Pantani. Champions were Indurain ullrich contador, but Lemond and Pantani without doping and bad luck would have monopolized races

I have a GoPro Hero 4 that's been laying around my apt. I've actually been considering using it again lately. However, a guy at the local bike shop told me he has cameras on his front AND back, which w/LA drivers makes sense. Unfortunately, I don't have the money for another GoPro at the moment. These things tend to get expensive. I also don't have a computer at home to download footage, so in the past, I've simply had it recording in Loop Mode for some protection.
