    Thank you! I have had my 2023 Ridgeline for 18 months. I bought the Idlestopper about 9 months ago, but the place I bought it from had a somewhat involved video on installation that frustrated me. I finally decided to tackle this today, and watched your specific video and it was so simple! 15 minutes later and success! Wow, I cannot believe how easy this was - your video was SPOT ON. Thank you very much! Best purchase for my Ridgeline!!!🎉

    Took me exactly 1 hour on '25 Elite. A few items to be aware of and cautious with: - There are two Phillips head screws under the USB/AC/12V panel. These need to be removed to get the center trim panel to come off. Bend the vertical square black panel back slightly and you'll find them. - There was also a blue LED light next to the 12V connection we use. The wiring for it is short and it popped off while removing the panel. Easy enough to clip back in right before you reinstall the center trim panel. - There is only one connector under the auto stop, snow, and eco button - I was under the impression I might've been going for 1 of 3 initially. The tab pushes toward the driver side door - you'll feel it and hopefully you don't have fat fingers like me! Use fingernail on your left hand to exert downward on the connector ridge and you'll feel it when you hit the tab right and it releases. - He's a little unclear in the video where to put the idle stopper unit. You need to watch where the trim panels converge back together. I was able to push it up under the button/shifter panel into a void left of the shifter buttons. - Be careful not to zip tie the red 12v wire going down to the lower connection to a trim panel clip point. I didn't use any zip ties, just tucked the slack into voids and it stayed in place for reassembly. - Examine your trim clips upon removal to ensure the white piece didn't pop off the panel's male connection for them. I had one or two that I had to re-clip. - I tested to make sure it worked before reinstalling all the trim panels. Connections are all nice and positive/click, so it was pretty clear prior that the connections were good. Also check that your blue ambient light pointing to the square lower tray illuminates (that the aforementioned light stayed clipped in its spot during reassembly). - Note: the slide out tray that took place of the Blu-Ray player in 2025 stays put the entire time and doesn't need to be slid out/unscrewed/etc.

    Just ordered the Idlestopper. Hope it is as easy as shown. On another note, I want to use my Pilot 2023 for car camping. There is no way to roll down (or up) one window without starting the car. I know about the rolling down of all the windows at the same time. Is there any way to modify the windows so you can roll one window up or down with starting the car? I am so frustrated with not being able to operate one window without starting.

    • @idlestopper7486
      @idlestopper7486 Před 11 dny

      Thanks for ordering and We hope you enjoy your idlestopper! For the window question, there’s no way to roll down a single window using the key fob or any other method without turning the ignition on. You are able to turn the ignition on without starting the vehicle to accomplish this. Just have your key fob in the drivers seat area and press the start button WITHOUT having your foot on the brake. This will put the vehicle into acc and ignition on mode but keep the engine from starting.

It almost snaps out, little scary but more durable than I thought. Part goes in very easy, when putting back make sure front clips are lined up. Pops in real easy . Module works perfect..

    • @idlestopper7486
      @idlestopper7486 Před 27 dny

      It’s possible that your battery was low on charge or if you have recently replaced your battery you may find that the idle stop works more frequently. There are all kinds of things that determine whether the vehicle will shut off at stops or not. Some of these factors include: -Drivers seatbelt fastened -climate control temperature not set on hi or low -Climate temperature within 10 degrees of requested temperature -Rear defroster is not on -Interior Humidity levels below 60% -Battery Charge levels -Brake pedal pressure at stops -Steering wheel needs to be stationary That’s part of the frustration with idle stop in general is that it’s unpredictable in operating. If it was every stop and consistent it would be much easier to get used to

    Since the device appears to be simulating a key press using delay circuitry, I was wondering if a mechanical relay is involved. If so, what is the MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) of the relay contacts. Or is it using a solid-state relay?

    • @idlestopper7486
      @idlestopper7486 Před 27 dny

      Thanks for your interest! We don’t use any relays and use a small microprocessor to control the power supply and signal process. No contacts to wear out and we fully expect our modules to last as long as your vehicle! We use only high quality, name brand, tested and vetted parts to ensure seamless and reliable operation

    This product is great. Thanks for giving car owners a way to get around this evil and annoying EPA mandated auto stop-start design that defaults to the on position. Some criticism however. Your instructions at 4:30 are awful. The clips on the back of that piece break very easily. You show that once you loosen the two side clips you can yank hard on the piece to remove it. But doing so easily breaks the clips on the back of that piece.

      The reason why we use the additional 12v and a few extra steps on installing is It’s stable and reliable power that is protected by a fuse. The “other” brand modules are performing a very risky operation. Using the power inline at the switch only can result in severe damage to your gauge control unit if the module were to fail or short circuit internally. Also the inline power is not consistent in every scenario and this can lead to the idle stop NOT being turned off sometimes. On our module, we make sure to only attach to a fused power source to prevent and protect your vehicle from any possible failure damage. At worst if the idlestopper failed or shorted internally, the 12v fuse would blow (easily replaced) and not your gauge module unit (cost would be in the thousands $$) . The last thing we’d want is to cause ANY possible damage or problems to your new vehicle. The “other” (Chinese) companies do not care about long term or consistent operations and do not fully protect your vehicle. They are more worried about selling you a product cheaply and then disappearing if you ever have an issue or have any problems with your product. The idlestopper is made with only quality vetted name brand parts, is built and assembled in the USA and we stand behind our product 100%. We provide a consistent, reliable product that will in NO possible way cause issues with your vehicle and will work EVERY TIME.

    The included pry bar is junk , throw it away. I ended up damaging the trim piece because it was in so tight, wholly crud. But once off the shifter trim gave me almost as much grief. Sheesh. I used the included pry bar and broke it 3 times, really. Other tools to the rescue. The installation literally took 2 minutes. That initial trim took about an hour OMG. The gloss black trim is horrible so I might look at replacing it with the Trail sport trim on the Black Edition. Now that it works, one less thing to think about after starting. The trim clips got a little saddle soap for lube. Waiting for mail lady to show up with S-VCM hopefully an easier install.

  • @sandan500

    Works as advertised except for the installation. I have all the plastic body clip tools and it was still a PIA. The plastic tool they put in the kit is a waste of time so throw it in the trash or you will be very frustrated. For the money they charge they could get a decent panel tool to use. Go very slowly and if you have a tablet or laptop to watch as you work it will help unless your memory is better than mine. I almost forgot to plug the led light in the shifter housing so double check before you lock it in place. There are a couple of other methods to turn the light off but this one is cleaner IMHO but pricey for what you get albeit they have the only kit. I agree with many of the others at the end of the day it is cheaper than the potential worn out parts to be replaced later. The little bit of gas that you may save is not worth it, if gas is an issue than buy a bicycle. I hope they make one for my 2024 Lexus RX350.

    I hated the jerkiness of the stop-start when at a light.. all I could see was the dollar signs of future dollar repairs every time it happened. So I decided to purchase this & finally got some time set aside to install it. A few good pointers.. the pry tool supplied broke under little pressure.. luckily I had a metal one (it has a screwdriver handle) with an “elbow” on it & a ball on the elbow from a trim removal kit via Amazon, this was way better.. used it with a microfiber cloth under it to pry the 1st piece off in front of the center console.. I was very apprehensive on doing this piece do it bending a lot while prying it up! Prying up the cup holder was easy.. used the same tool on that & so was the smartphone charger. I am very happy with this product & would recommend it to anyone.. it works as advertised! Thanks guys @ IdleStopper! ✌🏼

      Sorry to hear that you are having troubles with the connection coming loose. Some of them seem to be tighter than others. With the tab pressed down, wiggle a few times up and down and side to Side, then start pulling while still holding the tab. If you need a reference for the release tab location and feel, the idlestopper module has the exact same factory connector. I hope you get it! Not if the Democrats get in for another four years I am sure they will out do themselves for ridiculous policies and laws. We may even have to go back to horses and teach them not to fart. 🙂

    After much apprehension and thinking, I finally installed mine today. The small piece of trim in the 1st step was a pain to remove. It would release on 1 side but not both at the same time. Those little plastic clips are tough buggers. But, installed and works like advertised.

    Worked great on my 2023 Acura RDX aspec advance! Plug and play, no tools required! Would definitely recommend! Easy for a non mechanically inclined lady!! Thank you!

    I agree with others that I was not able to remove the final trim panel at the 4:24 mark. I used about 12 inches of spare wire I had laying around and fished it down through the opening and then taped the plug to the end of the wire and pulled it back up and through. The plug was a bit too big to pull through the opening. I considered using a dremel tool to make the opening a bit bigger, but I was able to just take one of my plastic trim removal tools and move plastic near the opening just enough to pass the plug through. I spent over an hour trying to remove that last panel unsuccessfully, but the wire method took about 3 minutes. Don't waste your time trying to remove that panel and risk breaking a clip! The wireless charging panel was also a bit hard to remove but did eventually come out after several attempts. The other pieces were easy to remove.

    Will this void any of the warranty ?

    • @idlestopper7486
      @idlestopper7486 Před 2 měsíci

      Thanks for your interest in our product! The Idlestopper will NOT void your full warranty, the manufacturer isn’t allowed to void your entire warranty for the use of aftermarket parts legally because of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act law that was passed in 1975. Here is a link to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) website explaining this as well: consumer.ftc.gov/articles/auto-warranties-and-auto-service-contracts#:~:text=Facts%20About%20Auto%20Warranties,-You%20don't&text=In%20fact%2C%20it's%20illegal%20for,use%20repair%20facilities%20it%20chooses. At most, the dealer could deny a warranty diagnosis/repair claim on the connected to parts as they are connected directly to the idlestopper device. All other vehicle systems and parts would still be fully protected under your normal warranty and cannot be affected by you installing the module into your vehicle. The Idlestopper does not reprogram or change any vehicle settings. It simply presses the off button for you. Aftermarket parts are a normal part of the industry and manufacturers know it. Customers use many after market parts on their NEW vehicles: -Phone and usb adapters -drive cameras -radar scanners -wiper blades -tires -wheels These are just a few of the things that, by the above standard, can technically “void” parts of your warranty in a similar fashion to the idlestopper. Example; If a phone charger adapter that you got from eBay shorts out and damages your power socket or fuse in your car then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs needed. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage to that specific repair. Example; If the Idlestopper shorts out and blows the power socket fuse in your vehicle then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage for that specific repair. Example; If you put aftermarket tires and wheels on your new car and have issues with balance or vibration then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs if they are needed to the wheels or tires. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage for that specific repair. Hope this helps!

    FISHING WIRE SUGGESTION, Definitely use a flashlight from the bottom to see where the wire needs to go down. It goes toward the engine at the top and comes out at the bottom on the front (engine) side of the metal frame. I tried for 20 minutes looking on the wrong side, thinking there was no path. The instructions were excellent, I failed to use the flashlight trick.

    Easy installation and it works exactly as advertised. I couldn’t get the wireless charger unplugged but it’s not necessary; you can complete the installation with it still plugged in.

    How does this affect the vehicles warranty? If I take it in for service by Honda, do I need to uninstall it?

It’s out of the way and will be unaffected by software updates or any repairs. The module would not even be noticeable unless it was somehow causing a problem to occur in your vehicle. Also, one simple trick to “disable” the idlestopper module is to remove the 12v console power socket (cigarette lighter port) fuse. Once this fuse is removed, battery power to the 12v socket and to the idlestopper module will be turned off. This will return the vehicle to a normal factory state and the idlestopper module will not function until the fuse is put back in. My apologies for the long response but I wanted to give you as much information as possible.

    Just installed this on my '21 Pilot. It works! SAVE YOURSELF FRUSTRATION! That tab that the tech says needs to be pushed in (2:38), is NOT the case. It actually needs to be pulled away from the plug body. I tried on three separate days to get it to work the way he shows it. Didn't work. I finally got a 90 degree pick tool and a long flat screwdriver, worked the pick tool above the tab and pushed DOWN, applied pressure with the screwdriver, and off it came! Finally! I was so happy to be able to continue with the rest of the install! Now, looking to install another one on my wife's new '24 Passport.

      THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Your tip saved me! I spent half an hour trying to pull that plug out. Ripped up my hands and broke my back trying every angle. Finally went back to this video and read the comments and your suggestion was spot on. I used an awl with a bent tip and a long screw driver just like you described. I used the new plug as reference to know how to place them, and after a little playing around to get them in position the plug popped out without much force. Really appreciate you posting this.
