    This is such a nice pedal. The only thing that severely irks me to the point of not bothering to buy one is that once they go on sale, they literally sell out in seconds. Additionally, a pedal this atmospheric should be in stereo.

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos Před dnem

      I agree about both points for the most part - I was able to snag my first one on a release day, I say just set an alarm and be ready for it. I haven’t tried to snag one in the last couple years though. My second one I picked up on reverb and paid a premium but not a huge one. Clearly you can tell how I resolved the stereo problem 😆

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos Před 7 dny

      Yep! I’d like the option to keep processing incoming audio but my guess is it doesn’t because you’re literally looping the input buffer to make the freeze happen. If you blend it 100% wet then it’ll just mute the incoming signal.

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos Před 12 dny

      +FX hands down if you're willing to spend the extra for it (it is more than twice as expensive though, so it's not the easiest decision haha). I just love the saturation the +FX brings and I happen to prefer the "flavor" of the effects on it and appreciate the display (and even in a pinch using it as an audio interface). The Chroma Console is super fun though and still a great choice, but if it were only going to be one, it would definitely be the +FX for me!

    Since I first encountered this pedal, I loved it. I remember an old friend of mine couldn’t hear the difference between its sound and a simple plugin, so he sold it... only to buy it again years later because "it looked good in videos" :) But the reality is that OTO Machines is a manufacturer that infuses something magical into their equipment. • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos Před 19 dny

      I still haven't tried that one out! Love Chase Bliss and I've heard people have good experiences with Meris stuff (haven't tried any yet), and of course the motorized stuff is cool too lol. I do cover the interface a bit in this video, I think using your ears you can really tell what's going on after you familiarize yourself with it. I feel like the forgettable settings are mostly the ones you won't change much (like aux mode or latching behavior). I agree with you to a degree, I mean it's def far from my favorite interface, but as much as it bothered me at first, you really get to understand it after a while. How long did you have it? It does take a little time to get used to it.

    • @jeremyjohnson7676
      @jeremyjohnson7676 Před 18 dny

      BAM is unique in any way, Nothing sounds like it, not even Lexicon. The CXM1979 is way too overpriced and sounds cold and artificial. I had it and it doesn't even come close to the 3-dimensional warm depth of the BAM. You can't remember just a few simple settings?? @Duskmos Interesting fact: The plate algo is the best for achieving the Blade Runner Reberb type of sound. I thought it would be the Hall or the Ambient type, no it's the plate type with SIZE at MAX, a lot of Reverb Time, Light Chorus and NO Damping!

    • @boogway
      @boogway Před 18 dny

      @@jeremyjohnson7676 interesting take. I think CXM sounds much more realistic and natural sounding than BAM. Meris algos are almost objectively the best and CXM is simple enough with an intuitive workflow to dial in a nice variety of realistic reverbs without getting too wild. The motorized faders are also super cool to automate with midi and they give you an immediate understanding of the settings without having to menu dive. I think you should bring your CXM back out and do some AB testing

    • @neonether
      @neonether Před 9 dny

      Cool, I sold the 1979 after I got the BAM. More versatile, bigger sounding, and the warmth and ability to drive the input is the best. Overall the 1979 sounds pretty cool, but falls short of the concert hall reverb from lexicon. I have a pcm 81 and 92 as a reference. I prefer the 81, it hits the sweet spot of the original. But unfortunately the 1979 has no place. I did keep it and use it for about 2 years, got the BAM and compared for another year. Off to a good home.

    Now that's a delay pedal XD. lol. At the same cost as a mono synth, I doubt I'll have the pleasure of owning one but at least I get to watch a great demo of it. Thanks for posting ^^.

    Is there a way of using the TX6 as an fx pedal on it's own? I've tried routing it through my Vermona DRM1 MK1V (out/insert on channel) and nothing. I tried it also as an aux send which also didn't work. It would be so great to access the TX6 fx this way. Thanks!

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos Před měsícem

      I don’t see why not! You’d just have to go from source>tx-6>destination and that should work as long as you’re going into the inputs in the top and using the main output as the out. The tx-6 would process the audio in realtime and send it right out.

    Oh my goodness! Thank you for posting this. Don't know why more people don't do extensive pedal demos with synths. It's much appreciated.

      I’m glad you appreciate! That very reason is why I started my Signal Colors series a few years ago, no one was doing it and I was always wishing I could find videos like these! I figured I’d go for it myself and honestly even find myself watching old videos to remember what something sounded like haha 😆

    Hey there, thanks for the video! I had a question that I couldn’t find elsewhere. In order to route to the aux does it have to be done on the unit or can the output be seen from your daw when connected by usb? Or does the daw only see one set of stereo outs? Appreciate it!

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos Před měsícem

      Thanks for the kind words - I wish I could help here but I just don’t know haha. I have yet to use this as an interface with a DAW. Routing gets confusing pretty fast with any mixer, but I hope someone sees this and can help! If I try it out I’ll get back to you for sure.

    So glad this video is just come out, just bought a d’luxe and am very excited for it to arrive so this is another great demo of how I want to use the pedal. Not enough videos of this with synths. One question I have is how do you find maintaining the pedal? Tape aging, cleaning tape heads, general things etc.

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos Před měsícem

      Congrats on grabbing one! It's such a cool device. I've had it for a year and a half almost and I haven't had any issues with either thing you mention. It hasn't required any maintenance (as far as I'm concerned haha) and I'm still using the original tape. That being said I have a lot of effects and don't use all of them all the time, so I wouldn't say I've used it regularly enough to know how the maintenance part would go if you used it every day for that amount of time. That being said, I love it, and I don't mind if it requires a little service every now and then. I also don't mind if it gets noisy or has any slips or anything, that's all part of the charm for me so I'm along for the ride when it comes to tape. =)

    Did they put in a mode where the middle know is on/ff and left and right a preset up and down? the stupid double knob thing is too dangerous.

    • @Duskmos
      @Duskmos Před měsícem

      Now the left is Preset A and middle is Preset B (so like patch 84 for example would be 84A and 84B) which is kinda cool if you have 2 versions of a preset you want to use on a track, to quick jump between two variations of the same one, or two different presets for two parts of the same song for example. The right one is the infinite freeze. =)
