I can totally relate! My parents fixed up the basement of their home and that’s the only living space we could really use other than bedrooms and bathrooms. The real kitchen, dinning room and living room were either for show or only used when we had guests!!! We Acoreans are odd balls.

I remember these old days, when I used to train at Bill's gym. Excellent atmosphere and discipline. There is love and respect between students and coach. The workout is a challenge and boxing's techniques are taught 100 per efficiently. I wish to come back one day to train with them and do some sparring.

I grew up near the Ida B. Wells projects, went to Holy Angels catholic school. Many of my classmates were Ida B. Wells residents. I graduat4d elementary school in '95. Thank you LeAlan and LLoyd for speaking the truth in the early to mid 90s. You guys are an inspiration to the community.

I give thanks to God that Bill Heglin was my coach, he was the first person that taught me the art of boxing. And also how to become a boxing coach, Bill is definitely my greatest mentor as a Coach.

Thank you for the recipe but mostly for the narration and history. Your right about the culture, the house with a room with the special furniture that we as children were not allowed to play in that room. I was born in Fall River, Ma, My parents from Sao Miguel, many of the Azorians moved to Mass. either New Bedford or Fall River. Each Portuguese family's home look so much alike but when they cooked it was amazing. Thank God I have cousins that can cook and do it in the same traditional way that my parents and grand parents cooked. Thanks Again

Where is Lloyd?

Im all for minimum wage increase but at the same time you have to think if you raise minimum wage then companies have to raise prices to compensate...which leads to a higher cost of living. so in reality you solve nothing!
