And would you say paediatric surgery is a good option? I haven’t a clue what I would specialise in. Go raibh míle maith agat, is insparáid thú🇮🇪

      Awesome! RCSI was excellent for me and I would recommend it to anyone whether you’re staying in Ireland or not. And since I’ve been there the school has evolved and become stronger and stronger so definitely shoot for that! There is a well worn path between RCSI and post grad training in the states which I think is an excellent option for several reasons. Ped Surg is an amazing profession, there are not many Ped surgeons in Ireland and it’s a competitive path but you can do it! ádh mór!

  • @KathleenHluch-pf1sv

    Goodness siri- corrections-sterile package abraised hairsparing

  • @KathleenHluch-pf1sv

    Guidelines for hair removal dont seem to be used - it is dr preference but if guidelines and research like cochrane review shows decrease infection by not removing hair then why do we still do it even though they clip hair now instead of shave no one seems to clip it in the correct way and still causes between five and 35% of abrasions skin injuries, micro injuries cuts nicks and erythema then they pat the hair off say the back of the neck for spine surgery and the tape if it is not a steal package has been shown to Carrie anywhere from 5 to 10 different types of bacteria so now you have a braised area you’ve disturbed the follicle you’ve possibly cut or caused and now you use tape on the back of the neck that has bacteria on it stop removing unless it’s just at the surgical site maybe a quarter inch of hair they do hairspray craniotomies they should not be removing hair on the rest of the body

    • @citizensurgeon
      @citizensurgeon Před 7 dny

      Thanks for adding all of the info, I almost never clip unless it’s going g to be difficult to sew the wound without getting hair in it, if I do I clip it and try to be careful not to cause skin injury, usually this is for pilonidal disease. But you’re exactly right, less is better.

    • @KathleenHluch-pf1sv
      @KathleenHluch-pf1sv Před 7 dny

      How do we get surgeons to change? I Am particularly interested in cervical spine surgery where they many times clip from to ear to ear and to the occiput it is not only adding a much larger area for infection, but also for patients and recovery the psychological part and the mental anguish of looking freakish for quite a long time is ridiculous, especially since it is not evidence based I would also venture to say, which is a little concerning for nurses and surgical assistants that if we are performing a procedure on a patient that is not a guideline even though the Dr. May direct you to do so it could go against your license because you’re not following the guidelines of the CDC NIH JCAOH WHO and even your own facility- how do we make this change?

    • @KathleenHluch-pf1sv
      @KathleenHluch-pf1sv Před 7 dny

      And I wonder if you know that according to JCAOH and the CDC, etc if you do any procedure on a patient, you must be trained, and then there must be competency and depending on what piece of equipment you use it states that that equipment must be in serviced by the vendor, and everyone needs to be taught by vendor in a training and then there must be compliance I doubt very seriouslyif this is happening, I’m pretty sure it’s appeared appear here. This is what I do which means not using the clippers correctly.

    Nice details of appendix biology & purpose, but no ROOT CAUSE of how it gets inflamed most likely from wrong nutrition habits. Hospitals never detail ROOT CAUSE of T2 Diabetes either, or they would be telling the truth that the low fat diet wrecks metabolic health & causes gall bladder to go bad due to underuse with the low fat diet. It's designed for high fat meals. Use it or lose it. Grains, other starches, sugar, fruit, "vegetable" seed oils/margarine/shortening all as the majority of calories every day, causes chronic inflammation & disruption of good microbiome & disruption of proper absorption of nutrition. How about the hospitals & doctors teach truth about prevention of appendicitis, diabetes, autoimmune, kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, dementia ("T3 diabetes"), fibromyalgia, hormones all whacky, toenail fungus thrives on a low fat high carbohydrates diet in the bloodstream to the toes. I only have toenail fungus on my foot that also has a neuropathy spot & skin problems. 5 years ago I was tested diabetic. Now I tested insulin sensitive bcz I switched mostly off carbs and eat almost only animal foods like animal fats, fatty red meat, fatty fish, actually fresh whole goat milk dairy products, cheese, and I'm WAAAY healthier at 53 than most of my 30s & 40s. First true health information about metabolism was found on the BEAT DIABETES CZcams Chanel, I was desperate to not go onto insulin injections, more meds, and urgent surgeries to save my life.... low carb prevented feet surgery from extreme Plantar fasciitis, uterine hemorrhaging & chronic sharp cervix & left ovary pains, years of breasts pain, extreme arthritis pain, so much more. Now I can walk and run just fine and my hands work again so I got dairy goats again after years off due to health problems. I even have less back pain now than in my similar thin 20s!! It was the wrong foods all along, and no one told me. Thank God for social media giving me easy access to honest caring knowledgeable surgeons & doctors & victims of The Food Pyramid (1970s-still the same terrible low fat mostly starch/fruit/seed oils guidelines...zero human clinical trials to prove it was a good idea for health). Pastured red meat is how to save the planet from pollution and excessive health problems. Look at all the unused grass & weeds.... could raise TRILLIONS more Ruminant animals on those wasted lawns & natural unoccupied areas. The plant based diet was always forced on the peasantry to keep them weaker, more docile or self-destructive, shorter lives, less free, Controlled, while the elite profit off their suffering. Book: WHY WE GET SICK by Professor Benjamin Bikman, LIES I TAUGHT IN MEDICAL SCHOOL by Dr Robert Lufkin, STAY OFF OF MY OPERATING TABLE by Dr Philip Ovadia heart surgeon, DEATH BY FOOD PYRAMID by Denise Minger

    I have had surgery when I was three days old for malrotation volvulus as I was extremely unwell. I’m now 25 went for barium recently as I was unwell and docs said malrotation do they not fix it in the surgery and place it back to normal like how regular people have it . Or is this something they cannot rectify

    • @citizensurgeon
      @citizensurgeon Před 10 dny

      Unforuntately we can't place is back like normal what we do is a Ladd's procedure where we put the bowel back into a position of "nonrotation" where the duodenum goes straight from left to right and the small bowel follows on the right with the colon placed on the left. This is "nonrotation" or "Ladd's position". Normal bowel has a duodenal c loop that is retroperitoneal and an ascending and descending colon that are also retroperitoneal and fixed. Does that make sense?
