Cruised HAL twice and never had any of these problems.

We did this cruise in April 2023 and came away from the Victoria stop feeling completely miffed. I would LOVE to spend at least a day there. In daylight too.

We were on the Bliss and 1st Alaska cruise of the season in 2023. Amazing trip! I think it was NCL's first yr docking at Ward cove instead of Ketchikan itself, and that was an epic disappointment. The shuttles took ages to arrive to take us into town, and we really only had an hour in town before we had to queue up for the shuttle BACK to the ship! Very frustrating.

Looks like fun but yes a little $$ but a great view of the fireworks!! Can’t believe we will be there at the end of this week 🎉

WOW! Let's go SPORTSFANS (as my dad always says)!This is fantastic! They go all-out to bring this American game for people across the pond! I loved every thing about it, even American food! We wish the stop in Victoria was longer! We waited in the Atrium to disembark and enjoyed the show. The line to get off the ship was crazy. I think things were closed because it was well after 8:00pm in Chinatown. Victoria is beautiful and very walkable. Cool as a Moose was our favorite shop. The next morning came too quickly. Thank you for this series, it really helped us!

Thank you! Thanks to your video, we made our way to Baranov's Castle as well after the Totem Park. Very educational. Enjoyed the local shops and some fantastic halibut ceviche from a food truck. The magnetic hooks were a GREAT idea!! Thank you for sharing. We traveled mid-June and luckily only had some cloudy skies. For the most part it was beautiful weather. But the hooks came in so handy. Thank you! We took the bus into Hoonah and walked back, twice. It was bright, cool and sunny making for a beautiful walk. We saw a whale on one trip, and many eagles. We walked to the other end of town to the Post Office to drop off postcards. A local came in while we were there, forgetting it was the Juneteenth holiday, he was surprised it was closed. We loved the town and watching the totem carvers. We got a reward of Lil' Gen's donuts on the way back to the ship. So many flavors to choose from! Thanks again!

Thak you for this video! Renting a car with Turo was one of the best things we did on this cruise, brilliant suggestion! Easy, and we beat the crowds to the glacier. A pitstop add Fred Meyers was equally surprising to us. We had time to enjoy downtown Juneau and then make our way back to the ship. Thank!

THANK YOU! Great documentation. I really valued your insight. Your highlights helped us have a successful cruise on the Bliss in mid-June, a first-time cruise at that. Showing you could explore the ports without excursions put me at ease. By the way, the Sitka nuts were delicious. Glad we picked up two!

Thank you for your documentation! I used your advice in every port but missed this one. We were on the Bliss two weeks ago (mid-June) I agree, not enough time in Ketchikan, and it was SOOOO BUSY! I think 5 ships were in port. We took an excursion back to the ship from Ketchikan to Ward's Cove. After watching this, it was worth the money. We had the same issue with the congestion in the cafeteria's as you did.

Desserts on the NCL SUN are crap. All their desserts contain a thickener to give it a luscious mousse like texture but it’s gross.

I was on the Bliss last week. Had the same issues with getting in and out of Ketchikan. Did enjoy lunches in the Observation lounge. Thought the sandwiches were the best meal of the day. The food in general was subpar

Sad to see Alaska cruises have turned into gift shop itineraries. Need to consider time in port and opportunity to l Tour outside of town. HAL for us, four trips never disappointed.

We went last October on Celebrity. We docked at Ketchikan...we did not have to bus in to town.

We’re sailing to Alaska the 1st week of September. On the Celebrity Edge. We have been on many Celebrity cruises and never had any issues. Hopefully all will go well. We sailed several years ago on NCL Epic and had the same crowd problems. We’re trying NCL next year for our Canada New England cruise. Our travel agent said it’s a small ship. NCL Gem, so she doesn’t think we will have the same problems as the experience on the Epic. I really wanted to do Celebrity CL for Canada New England but it’s 12 Nights & 12 Nights is too long for my husband.

Great video, never been to the water parks at Disney, we’ve done 2 in Dubai which were fun but when it gets busy it can get a bit much, even the kids get bored of queues after a few hours and prefer to be back in the hotel pool. That Dole whip looked amazing, I’ve only had it at Hawaii Dole plantation and Disney and it’s the best thing I’ve ever tasted, it is definitely not for sharing 😂😂😂

Castaway is so well done. It has something for everyone and the staff is exceptional.

Not my cup of tea, as there's too much sun, heat, & crowds (the trifecta of yuck) -- but glad you had a modicum of fun.

I saw another video saying NCL cannot manage its crowds. There was chaos as well. I was considering trying NCL for my 2nd cruise, but seeing how far they dock at the ports and not able to manage crowds, I don't want to book with them. My first cruise was to Alaska with another cruise line, and I had a wonderful time! I want to go to Alaska again so I can do things I didn't get to do the first time. BTW, I hope things go better on your next NCL cruise!

You asked if this was normal for NCL. It very much is on their larger ships. I try to stick their smaller 2400 passenger ships. Added benift is that the smaller ships can dock closer to town. I have been on the Bliiss before and didn't like the crowds whatsoever. The Food Republic you tried to go to is the silver lining of the ship. Fantastic Food

I was on the Westerdam relocation b2b from Japan 6 weeks ago. There were 4 cruise ships in the harbor and Ketchican was a zoo. But I've been there before and enjoyed it.

I know you don't intend for this to happen, but your videos leave me a bit teary-eyed -- I loved traveling with the kids when they were teenagers, and even into their 30s. It all goes so fast. Enjoy it! 🥲
