I saw this at the Shubert in Los Angeles. I will never forget it!
Swenson would make for an amazing Joker, if one comes to think of it.
Where can I find the full slime tutorial?
Hi, I saw your comment on Lindsay Kaul's channel where you were interested in the audio of the orchestra pit from Les Mis. Did he by chance send you the audio?
"But we sing it anyway" - that line just destroyed me! I was sobbing so hard in a silent theater ... And then "Because here's the thing: to know how it ends, and still begin to sing it anyway ..." - utter destruction. I can't even talk about it weeks later without tearing up. I saw Jon Jon Briones as Hermes and he was so fantastic. What an incredibly beautiful statement on hope. I loved this so much.
"Which will not be called that" that line makes me smile so much
How could I miss someone I have never met? I miss you Steve, thanks for everything.
"Here is the so called 'Epiphany', that will not be called that, when we get around to it, I hope." - Stephen Sondheim
Not being mic’d for the cup song works in a small theatre like this. Works a lot less in a 2000+ seat theatre where the top of the second balcony is in another time zone from the stage.
I did get to see THE RINK and could never understand why it didn't catch on. Interesting characters, wonderful score, uniquely put together. This solo by Jason Alexander was one of my favorite moments in the show.
I miss Stephen Sondheim.
"That's all very well . . . "
If only anyone else had directed this
I saw this show during the tour and I gotta say that the casts never disappoint. No matter how many times they tell the story I'm still very interested. I wish to see it live one more time.
I hear what Sondheim is saying about “There’s a place for us” having a problematic melody line, but in the end it is ok, the rhythm and orchestration solve the problem: “There’s a” is lead-in to a downbeat, and the full texture with bass enters there at “place”
do you have a video of the full show ?
She did amazing. Wish I would’ve found this sooner. This Should hands down have a million views and likes
That's Henry Reagan playing billiards.
Lenny was simply passionate about his work, the reckon he was abit of a swine to work for because he wanted 100 percent in fact more than....!! He wanted it all, giving it all breathing it all, raw performance. And they DELIVERED. Eventually take after take after take.....finally! He was perfectionist but theres a little of that in all of us!
lol they look like Cheryl Hines and RFK Jr.
9:35 if you're here for the trombone!
I love the moments where he loses control and screams
透き通った歌声‥心が洗われます。😢😊 Great😊
ZT'l Stephen. I love interviews with him and thankfully they exist. Too bad I couldn't hear the questions, but his answers are gold. Thanks for posting!
she looks so beautiful
Very interesting listening to 'Stephen Sondheim' answering questions from somebody with a blanket wrapped around their head somewhere nearby maybe
Extremely difficult to sing 😮💨 good job 👏🏿
I saw this show during its pre-Broadway tryout at the 199-seat Atlantic Theater on West 20th Street. For those who say that a musical based on 'Days of Wine and Roses' is "too depressing', my answer is that great talent is always a joy. It felt like a privilege and a gift to see these performances.
Do you have the full thing?
“Crunch” - Remarkable.
Just an unbelievable performance. I'm stunned by how much emotion she's able to convey with the most subtle of movements. She makes The Witch totally her own. ❤
do you have the full show with him being sick? It'd be really interesting to hear the difference
Bless you for this upload! <3
I love this brief instrumental interlude from the original cast recording sessions. The playing and audio are outstanding. The music is beyond brilliant! 🎭 czcams.com/users/shortsKE3n-NQy0gs?si=jAGpKpp_URumcCto

Восхитительное исполнение. Рыдал. Честное слово.
It would have been wonderful if Vincente Minnelli had directed this movie.
oooooooooh...
Great video with the exception of the gullible nitwits wearing masks that are doing absolutely nothing except weakening your immune system.
I miss the show already! Hopefully the cast would return for the run at Mirvish next summer! Do you have the recording for Evan Buliung's Dust And Ashes? Thanks!
Robbin's ballet, Siamese version of Uncle Tom's Cabin in The King and I, was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and I never forgot it--the music and the movie changed everything for me, an 11 year old from a little town in the Blue Ridge mountains, who had really never seen or heard anything. I feel the same when I listen to Sondheim's extrordinary music.
Correct
The words in subtitles are terrible. Often no approximation of what he is saying!
the subtitles here are a a copy-and-pasting of the transcript on the site, which probably was added more for convenience's sake than accuracy. i have to imagine they were automatically generated by PBS for this interview, and at most hastily glanced at by editors before being published
@@themusicalspeakeasy2439 It's really too bad -- they have no idea who Comden and Green are, or were.
Thanks for sharing. I was in this and it's so great to see again after 30 years! Any chance you have more of the show? Cheers, Jo
Knowing that they were going to do We Raise Our Cups still didn't prepare me for this finale and We Raise Our Cups
Mad props to the trombone -- de Shields is beyond powerful but that trombone is just *chefs kiss*
