My channel documents and shares my collection of electronics from the 1930's through the 1980's. I'll also do a "how-to" video from time to time and share helpful tips on repairing vintage radios, TVs and record players and even an occasional car repair.
Optimus System 724 Compact Stereo (1995)
Made for Radio Shack by Zenith according to the UL code. Interestingly Soundesign marketed this same set as model 5826. Vwestlife did a review years back:

RP1822A-GR The Partymate (RP2101) was introduced by 1963 with a VM changer (this may have had a tube amp.) A Dualaramic Partymate came in 1964 with two speakers built inside the lid, but it was not stereo! I've also seen one with one speaker taking up the left inside of the lid. In 1965 it became the "new" Partymate II (RP1822) using the Glaser-Steers design G.E. changer. I believe these were o...

Anybody have carburetor issues??
I'M SPARTUS!
Been keeping an eye out for an 8 track machine and recently lucky enough to find one a neighbor was giving away. Pioneer stereo recorder, H-R99 was like new except for metal case part, which I resprayed. Face is perfect, just needed a little clean-up. Had to go searching for an 8 track tape. Found one and the unit worked. Needs a little internal clean-up and already got new drive bands. Now I can listen to the 8 track I and some friends recorded in 1982. Couldnt risk that one on a test.
Wow. I once met a man who grew up in Biloxi in the late ‘40s/early ‘50s. He said WDSU was the only channel when his folks got a TV in 1948. They must have been rich!
I just completed this very difficult task. I released the tensioner spring to enable me to get to that bracket's second bolt easier to get it loose. I took out the other bolt and swung the bracket out of the way. Unfortunately, I started this task by dropping the entire rear end thinking there was no way to change it without getting this out of the way. Maybe it would have been possible but..... And now I just read the comment from 7 years ago. Stand it up!! That would make it MUCH easier!
No way i have the same chairs
I miss my 82 four door!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why would you want a mower without a Briggs engine? The only other choices now are Chinese and electric. Given those choices, I'd go with the Briggs. You're complaining that it won't mulch tall wet grass? Um, NO mower (other than commercial) will work well in that situation. I have a side-discharge only mower with the 125cc engine. I mow dry grass, and it works fine. Never bogs. If you want to mulch, mow more often, and wait till the grass is dry. If you want to mow tall wet grass, use the discharge chute. Use the mower as it was intended, and it will be fine. Re: Briggs plastic carb... they work fine unless neglected. None of them work well if neglected, but I have to admit, the plastic carbs will gum up quicker than the older metal carbs. I'm guessing it's due to smaller jets they had to use to meet the EPA regs.
I have this same car in the same year, with the same problem with the oil and the timing chain is very loose and flapping it has 319,000 miles and I hear that same sound in my car
Where can I find this tool? I would like to buy it. What is the new price?
This is the same set that was featured in a 1961 episode of Hazel. Hazel's TV goes on the frits, and George offers to buy her a new set. He's willing to pony up $189.50 for a black and white set. Hazel decides she want's a color set. So she takes his money and adds to it, then makes payments on her new color TV. The whole neighborhood (including George's son and wife) cram into Hazels room to watch color TV. After George feels abandoned by his family he breaks down and buys a color set for their living room. Imagine a house in 1961 with 2 color TVs! I imagine Hazel had the table model version (with remote), but this was the one they had in the living room. The name of the episode is "What'll We Watch Tonight?". It was in the first season of the show and the only color episode filmed in the first 2 seasons. The show aired on NBC, which at the time was owned by RCA. The episode was used to drum up interest for color television.
Great video . . shity Chrysler and plastic gears dumb dumb dumb! hnak you for making, however may be too much of a project for me :)
Worse than hideous!!
I have the same issue with the fast forward rewind not working on my 4965a
record play switch might be dirty inside for the tape deck
it would be a good stereo for the garage or basement. could you just solder a jack on the board and put it on the back of the unit?
This was Radio Shack’s version of the Soundesign 5826 stereo system from the early to mid 1990s… usually this isn’t a bad unit (considering that this is a low-end stereo system)! Good luck finding the proper replacement for the headphone jack!
Oh my gosh! You’re the bomb!!! Our Nissan 1996 truck is doing the EXACT same thing and has been driving us nuts! We saw that piece flopping around
Thank you very much! Took me 7 minutes to do after I watched the video. My buddy picked me up one from an auto wrecker for $35 and I could not believe how simple it was after I watched your video. Once again, thank you!

Jeez, I never thought about that. I'm behind the times - lol
Bit o' history there eh?
Ain't gonna find a truck this cheap anymore..
You make it hard no need to remove fan u can just pull out starter from bottom
This carries me back. This is the way we used to come to New Orleans when I was a little boy from Mississippi
Plastic wheels ? Deal breaker here
I just got one of these I love it
Do not buy!!! The plastic front bumper that the wheels attach to broke on the second use. The Murray website is down, and you can’t get in touch with the Ningbo website for a warranty replacement. Absolutely disgraceful!!!!!
Beautiful Car,I wish it was mine !!!
I just purchased a Murray yesterday 27Apr24, she was $249.00 out the door, this is as high as I could go for a GAS mower, things are tighter even now when you bought your Murray, last year! I’m sure she’ll do fine, my electric cordless refurbished B+D mower stopped working, so no more electric crap for me! The very best gas mower I ever had was a Craftsman, she sat for a long time and she started up with ease, even though I never added Sta-Bil over the winter, had her for about 25 years! I gave it away to a druggie friend and…long story. I meant to type tighter even more now, of course. Well, happy mowing!
It’s an anti-vibration weight
I need a bag catcher for that machine. Does anyone know a part number or where I can find one.
I think you had to buy the 152703 to get bagging capability
Is it for sale?
I bet that black grease is at least 50 years old.
Sorry to bug you on a 12 year old video, but I just picked one of these up the other day and everything works perfect except for the turntable part spinning slow. Do you have any idea how to fix it? Does it just need greased again or is something broken?
Look up Radiotvphononut - he's done videos on servicing the changers. Most likely have to clean the old sticky grease out of the platter bearing, regressed it and oil the motor

Need to get all of the dried mud from that nest off. It adds too much weight to the stylus tracking; bad for the records. First is pliers (needle nose) to crush the mud, then you can soak the rest (even the stylus) in water to dissolve the mud. Dry off with compressed air. Rest sounds great given the condition.
It went in the trash a long time ago- it was too damaged cosmetically after years in a damp dusty shed.
@@audubon5425 Yeah, those plastic turntable dust covers always took a beating. Very rare if you see one that is flawless and clear.
That looks like the original hose that had a tower clamp on it. That's how my hose looks after I removed those tower clamps to out a heater core bypass hose until I can replace. Thank for doing s video, I can't find any vids for anything to do with my 88 Town car.
Murray is now made in China by Ningbo Daye Garden Machinery Co. Ltd. you can see them on their dayenorthamerica website
My self propell broke after the 3rd use. Today, it decided to die. It starts and runs for a couple of seconds and then dies. It's got oil, the recommended gas, and a clean filter. Either I got a dud, or it's junk. The mower is less than a year old.
That copy of “Louie Louie” was indeed a rerelease of the original 1963 hit single (and that was also one of the first 45s that I ever bought, but I have since bought an original issue of that song, still in the original sleeve).
Sweet baseline car ! Absolute tragedy that it was ruined by a horrendous repaint !
These are period cars for movies and television.
I have a very nice one like this made in June 1986 with the digital interface. I only paid $25 for it a few months ago, but they appear to sell for much more than that online. I'll keep it as long as I can since we used to play Super Mario Bros on the NES and use it as the family TV when I was younger. I hope it lasts as long as the last one, which went out after almost 20 years of use.
From what I've observed, how much you can get for an old TV is highly dependent on your location. Around here, $25 would be great.
Great cars ! change PCV as well.. a clogged one can burn oil !
It happens!!
Thanks for posting. it helps to see it done. my manual says nothing about removing the oil filter bracket, but it sure needs to.
