    Hard to tell on video, but looks like he could have come in closer to the driver side before the obstacle so the ass end would have been further over. Honestly, recreational wheeling in a 1/2ton, 3/4ton, 1ton, etc. is kinda silly. Too much bodywork to deal with and visibility sucks.

    So what did this PW do that a stock one couldn’t do? I agree that larger tires look cool, and the after market bumper looks cool, but it’s mostly cosmetics. If you want to spend a few thousand dollars modifying your Power Wagon, go for it. I have a 2019, and I have been off road everywhere from Colorado, to Utah, Montana, and Idaho and have never had any problems conquering anything I’ve come across. I’ve scrapped a bumper here and there, but it hasn’t motivated be to spend $10,000 on modifications.

    • @rickburnham5796
      @rickburnham5796 Před měsícem

      You make a lot of assumptions. One, my suspension is bone stock. My only mods are 37” tires, high clearance bumpers, rock sliders and differential protection. Way, way short of your stated $10k of mods. If you think those are just cosmetics…come follow me around in the rocks and you’ll wish you had each and every one of the few mods I have. Are there any videos posted of your stock Power Wagon on 33” tires running Poison Spider, Golden Spike or even climbing the ledges at Bangs Canyon or attempting 21rd? I usually take the hard lines and don’t stack rocks.

    That was crazy. Another impressive demonstration of the Power Wagon’s capabilities. I paused the video when you’re at max incline, and your massive truck looks like a rocket ship. When you rounded the top, I could see that the big 37s are required for long-wheeled vehicles. A shorter truck with 35s might be ok.

  • @gkcamden9050
    @gkcamden9050 Před 2 měsíci

    Very impressive. The contact patch on those aired-down 40” chocolate donuts is a rock-crawling game changer. I’ve got an F150 w/33s, but I’ve had two sets of 35s. Did you jump straight from the stock 33s to 40s, or did you try 35s and 37s? Recently, I’ve been shopping for a used Power Wagon. I doubt I’ll see much rock crawling where I am, but I want to handle the worst washed-out fire roads. With that in mind, what size tire do you recommend with the Power Wagon as a balance to keep more fuel range and reduce strain on the drivetrain components?

    • @rickburnham5796
      @rickburnham5796 Před 2 měsíci

      Those are 37’s on stock rims and suspension. 40’s would require extensive trimming and AEV style fender flares. The truck also performed well on 35’s but living out in Western Colorado on the rocks I need all the help I can get. Tire size and drivability depends on your entire combination. Example: my Power Wagon comes with 4:10 gears and the 8spd transmission so the 37’s have a minimal impact on it.
