Hair simulation in Pixar's Brave. || XGen Groom

In Brave, Merida's hair is an important extension of her character. Like Merida, it is fierce, tempestuous, and unpredictable. We were tasked with the challenge of creating hair that possesses its own dramatic and expressive personality, but still appears realistic and physically convincing. To accomplish this, we engineered a hair system that produces believable, natural movement while providi...
Creating Diversity in the People of Kumandra : Raya And The Last Dragon by Disney Animation

In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Raya and the Last Dragon”, the fantasy world of Kumandra is composed of five lands, representing five parts of a dragon. All aspects of the character designs were inspired by the many cultures of Southeast Asia. Each land is inhabited by a unique clan and the crowds assets need to reflect this diversity and variety both within and between the clans. This was a...

In the feature animation film Ron’s Gone Wrong there are many robot characters designed to have their surface working like a display. The acting of those characters relied mostly on moving graphic elements represented on their surface: animated faces, costumes and props. All graphic elements had to be art-directed, requiring the animation department to be able to control them interactively. We ...

This video outlines novel techniques used to create the complex wrapped clothing on Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Raya and the Last Dragon”. Inspired by traditional Southeast Asian designs, these wrapped garments are formed by deftly folding long panels of cloth, with little to no reliance on seams to hold the structure. This departure from a standard pattern-based pipeline made the construct...

At Blizzard, the Animation department produces character animations which get evaluated in our video games by the game engines. These joint-based skeletal animations are mostly produced from motion capture systems or by artists using DCCs like Maya. However, to animate the accessories of a character like cloth and hair, artists prefer to employ simulation tools to achieve physically correct mot...

This unique character look was inspired by the simulation tests done by the Character Simulation Department, which were so successful, they became the inspiration for the ”Kimura” sequence. We will talk about the workflow we used for creating ”Gooey Kimura”, how we worked together with animation, as well as how simulation was used to guide animation to achieve more fluid motion. We will also di...

3D animation: We hired 3 tech artists to procedurally solve this issue so we can theoretically have infinite scenes with it 2D animation: The pain never stops
Wow what a great animation and charadesign I hope that the studio won't be closed after being bought by a souless mass corporation
Honestly Elemental was a great movie, the story elements (see what I did there?) ain’t even that bad, people are just hating on it just because it’s about diffrent races interacting with each other. For me, it showed a good lesson on understanding between cultures.
This was a great moment and a missed opportunity in the beginning I sticked to this animation studio to its bitter end
Very cool, hard to understand what was being said through all the corporate speak though. Try to dumb it down next time.
They're not using 'corporate speak,' they're using words that are specific to their field. The words, "simulation technology," isn't just a magical corporate buzzword, they're quite literally describing their jobs. Sounds like a skill issue on your part.
This is why I personally love working in 3D graphics. You get to work with some of the smartest people, use a bunch of math and technical know-how, and at the end of the day you do all that to make a fat guy jiggle good 😄

I didn’t know it was T H A T old
whenever i got to this part of the movie, i always wondered how many key frames it might’ve taken to animate it, obviously forgetting that simulation technology exists lmao
At least Blue Sky went out with a bang. I mean, this is a big moment in animation history!
Man that looks hard Edit: difficult to animate
in what way do you mean hard?
Seems pretty soft to be honest
Great, as if the world needed another fetish.
Damn they have to invent a new way of animation just to animate caseoh
these days people just use blender
Do not mention caseoh. He does not like people thinking that these fat dudes are caseoh.
you are so funny and original. Will caseoh viewers every come up with another joke than “haha fatman”

@@whyiwakeup6460 😑😑😑 I'm not kidding.
My journey to this video: - watches Ron's Gone Wrong - wants to figure out how to do a pixelated texture on a capsule object that could be animated - does not find any behind the scenes about this from RGW - tries to get information out of tutorials about MASH, disco balls and other screen-like effects inside Maya - this video gets recommended and I thought "Huh, I could actually look more into 2 face rigs and try to learn something from them!" - And then it was exactly what I was searching for at the beginning of my tutorial journey

if you can make such breakdowns, you definitely know a lot about rigging... why don't you upload tutorials?
Nice 😂but SFM 😂
Just walk onto Gimp Krita & save money 🎉
Companies are making progressively worse decisions and much like when farmers during the dust bowl rushed to farm as much wheat for profit out of the land, the land will turn on them.
This is so cool. Can we also get an Incredibles 3 Pixar?
I hope Adobe has a few billion dollars on hand because there's going to be a lot of lawsuits coming out very soon from every movie plays there is😊
Congratulations they're going to be sued by every major corporation😊
We need laws to protect creators. This is getting ridiculous.
I havent used photonshop since cs6. And I ha ent needed to. Krita, Gimp, and Clip studio paint all fill my needs.

You already own nothing. And youre not happy. Eat your bugs.
That's atrocious
Basically this is so they can use people’s work as training data for AI art without their explicit permission, right?
Hm, wonder what Disney thinks about this
Title: adobe OWNS your content. License showned: We dont own your content. We can use it tho. Thanks for the misinformation 🙏
^ i found the corpo meatrider. They should pay to use your stuff just like you pay them to use their software. Remember, pirating isn't stealing if buying isn't owning.
glad i pirated it
This is to cover their arses because they are using your art to generate things for their AI stuff. Evil bastards
We don't even get to own the things we create anymore the world getting wild bruh 😂
Time to set sail lads
This is why I use affinity photo
#bancorporategreed
They want to train their ai models of your content
yeah, that's basically it. I guess they could phrase it less sinsterly if it was just their own ai though, so they want to sell the training data to to other companies to train their ai on.
Why are people paying for adobe crap. That's what i will never understand.
Theyre not doing this to share your content, its all a smokescreen, but they are going to use your art to train ai to make art itself. I hate so much that we are replacing artists and human workers with robots. Who would have thought the jobs that get replaced are artists and writers, not manual labor jobs
LLMs and Stable diffusion look promising, but at the end of the day the general public was tricked into thinking it is capable of more than it is. Now, anyone selling a.i. is making big bucks on hype alone.
Ummmm….sensitive government and financial documents are also formatted via Adobe.!!!!
Corporate dystopia everywhere
They do not own your work. They mandate a license, which means they just have your permission to use it. You still retain full legal ownership of your art and its copyright.
Welp, back to the high seas I guess. Yo ho ho and all that 🏴☠️🦜
I heard the new terms of use, but that is insane!
So only use the apps with no internet connection. Got it. Can’t try to prompt me with an update if you never get to connect to online ever again.
@@violet_world9385 I have much older versions of apps because I never felt the need to connect my iPad to the internet. I already knew I never wanted to connect because you’d no longer own the program you bought. For everyone unlucky enough to be stuck in this situation? I’d suggest getting real friendly with GIMP or other older programs. I mean photoshop specifically. The others I’m not sure about. I just use it to play around with, nothing professional. I can’t believe they want to own something you create simply because you paid to use their program. You could try to bypass it by screenshots maybe, that way it never has a chance to save to their system? Maybe.
I bought a DJI drone whose fine print said they owned all of the video taken by the drone, and I would have had to sign that terms of use agreement before being able to use the drone. I returned it the same day.
This should be no different than pirating a movie they should be charged with intellectual property theft.
Yeah, the implications if this TOU are jacked up.
