This year for Star Wars Day, we commissioned artist Nathan Stromberg to create this collage for Lucasfilm & ILM at our San Francisco campus, made entirely from vintage Star Wars paper material.

Glad to see this studio be put out of it's misery. Nothing of value was lost. Just look at the footage used to show their "outstanding work". Fagloni garbage, Yidsney garbage, various other mainstream garbage, etc. Not to mention the cattle in the comments saying that they worked at ILM like it's some kind of badge of honor as if it could ever come close to what George Lucas and his team did back before he sold it.
booger 2:48
riggers of life
I guess make up prosthetics or strategic camera angles were too expensive or impractical than all this CGI.
ILM is my favorite company in the galaxy
I really enjoyed this movie. Its ended was a bit underwhelming. But overall it was a really good sci fi film. As usual ILM made it look amazing.
Please start making your own movies and streaming series. You guys make such high quality stuff that it's sad to see you guys forced onto old dated and devalued products like star wars. If you guys had your own writing division and got on some real good directors that match your companies drive and capabilities. You could make some of the best movies of all time. Right now though your stuck working on everyone else's mediocre projects. Your work is literally the only thing that makes modern star wars stuff even watchable. It's sad to see you stuck making amazing things for mediocre products, instead of amazing things for generation defining projects that last the test of time. Star wars used to be that, but is no longer. It's time to move on from this series and do better things. And yes that droid art is awesome looking. It's too bad it's talent wasted on a devalued product that most people are sick of.
Yes, we are but, if we don't have directors, writers, tools, other kinds of stuff, visual formulas, and other types of cameras especially money, then we can't make it. We are just paid $60k a year, so making our movie alone will be our biggest mistake, it needs a lot of money just to think about the movie.
Plenty of marketing agencies are hiring generalists. That’s now my goal so I’m not put in a box of just doing one thing.
Props to you, being told in school 12 years ago by my teachers that without specializing I would never land a job, Let me say I prooved them dead wrong ;). Being a generalist can lead many places to technical art or direction to name only a few path. When you're able to see problems from a wide angle, you can prevent mistakes from happening in the first place. Skipping costly mistakes is always the way to go, mistakes in a perpetual problem solving business are bound to happen but over specialization isn't the solution to a frictionless development process. I mean... I sometime get offered role for "Principal team lead skin shader artist" 🙃. Each time it makes me shivers just thinking how horribily badly managed must these production be to have entire team for one specific shaders type. Does this mean they have a whole team for eyes, leather, metals ?!? 😅 Nothing against that tho, just clearly not something I could bear myself to do, one specific task/system for 4-5 years is just numbing.
I think Stagecraft has been both a blessing and a curse...
pcvr when?
love
Why aren't CZcams subtitles supported..?
in the early days.. 80s to mid 90s everyone was a generalist! :)
"Jack of all trades, master of none." was originally a compliment - and to those in the know, it still is.
Finally, they managed to create a light that resembles sunlight. Congratulations! They just forgot that the light would also illuminate the front part of the car.
I'm a big fan "THE GEEK STRIKES BACK" Rafael Pozo from Madrid Spain Bye guys...
Some people who don't know who this actor is based on, never saw the OGs, and aren't looking for CGI, don't notice this is CGI.
Episode 1 of season 2 is one of the best in the series. The wide scope of it was simply thrilling!
Make no mistake, the entire purpose of this series is to make it seem like Kathleen Kennedy was anything other than a glorified gopher to Lucas and Spielberg.
Good job to the visual effects team. 👍
It’s talent like this, that, is soul >>needed<< Please continue your future.
This ladies and gentlemen, is why aside from the actors and staff, VFX/CGI is the most expensive part of any film and sequences like this easily go over $100,000
It's Magic as always 😃
Loved it! ❤🎉

They fly now?
Thank you for sharing this! I feel so frustrated as "bosses" try to force me into a small box. They want me to react frenetically on something I was trying to show them two years ago. I learn in depth, but only through the freedom to take deep dives. To me it is all connected. Making it a group project slows my value down in the short term and the long run.
You guys never cease to amaze. Especially when it comes to "invisible" CGI. Expertly done, as always.
How is it with all of ILMs talented artists, experience and financial resources some kid with Deep Fake software does a better job of re-creating life-like looking deceased actors?
"I learned how to use the force precious!"
I've been Sr. CG Generalist in most of my career. My extensive experience allows me to seamlessly transition between different mediums, techniques, and styles, enabling me to approach projects from a holistic perspective. This versatility not only fosters innovation but also enhances problem-solving abilities, as senior generalists can draw upon their multifaceted expertise to find effective solutions. Moreover, their well-rounded skill set often makes them invaluable collaborators, capable of contributing to every stage of the artistic process, from conceptualization to execution. In a constantly evolving creative landscape, the adaptability and proficiency of senior generalist artists position them as invaluable assets in any artistic endeavor.
This sounds like an AI generated text.
2024 still looking crazy good
When it will be available for Quest3/PCVR? This exclusive sh*t is so irritating, escpecially the "base" version is only available in standalone on Quest.

We love ILM!
First in line! ILM? Yeah, I'm here for it! Great collage, Nate!
I actually gave you guys a shoutout almost 2 months ago in honor of supporting you.
What happened to warcraft 2 ?
The modern generalist artist brings back the visionary aspect of filmmaking rather than the awful fragmented committee “filmmaking” that strangles the films artistic consistency in todays visual mess. Glad ILM are thinking like Artists.
I have always wanted to work at ILM.
