    I am not allowed to put cuttings of Norweigen blackberries that grow on my small urban lot, into my green recycle can for curbside compost pick up. So I have to dry them out first and then I burn them in my Weber BBQ. It's tricky. I want to get them dry fast so they will burn. I like to lay them over a small backyard table to dry, but I've got a lot more prunings than that. I am back to cutting them manageable lengths and putting them loosely in a trash barrel. Still need more drying space.

    • @violetdexx9970
      @violetdexx9970 Před měsícem

      If you have an open area that gets direct sunlight, spread out some tarps and lay the prunings out to dry. I keep my excess in totes to reduce exposure to moisture until there's a sunny day.

    • @OWK000
      @OWK000 Před měsícem

      @@violetdexx9970 I've burned one batch in the Weber BBQ and it is a little tricky. I hate losing stickers in the yard as I love to go barefoot. I had one 5 gallon bucket of dried up cuttings and that dumped into the BBQ very neatly. It is dry enough out here I can actually dry them like that and I have lots of those buckets. I am also considering cutting stuff up into regular big paper grocery bags and just putting the whole bag on the fire. I think they dry up quicker when they are cut up so that may make up for the fact that I got it stuffed in buckets.

    Thank you for this video. I know this might sound stupid but I never had a dad show me anything when growing up. He never taught me anything about maintenance when I got my first vehicle, for example. He passed away in 2009 when I was 32. I look to CZcams now to learn how to understand basic skills of things I should have known growing up. A video like this is so hopeful. I have this exact chainsaw, the Echo CS-400! It’s my first chainsaw I’ve bought and I have no clue on how to do any maintenance on it and how to actually cut wood properly, etc. Thank you so much. You have no idea!!

    This 18hp Duromax engine is only a 439cc engine. I am highly dubious of the 18HP rating. For comparison, the Kohler 429cc is only rated at 14HP. Despite what appears to be an optimistic horsepower rating by Duromax, I just placed an order today for the newly-released Duromax 500cc engine with electric start (model XP20HPE). Duromax claims this 500cc engine has a 20hp rating. It has 22.87 ft-lbs of torque at 2500 rpm. Again, the horsepower rating seems excessively optimistic, but the torque spec seems in line with the 500cc displacement.

    I've owned mine for 5 years now and would not recommend it unless you're very handy and don't mind replacing belts and pulleys whenever the mower hits a rock. If your lawn is level and free of debris then you'll probably be OK. Otherwise I'd avoid the Timemaster. The fuel tank is ridiculously small, so it's definitely not suitable for commercial use.

    • @cheaperthandirtvideos1

    These damn cables break all the time. The sqeaking is fine. The issue is if the cable isnt tensioned enough the belt will slip and the blades wont spin at the right speed. Also if yoy engage it fast like youre doing its much more likely to break the cable

    • @cheaperthandirtvideos1

      Water seems to seep down the cable and sit there until the cable rusts and breaks. The breaks are always rusty.

    An important note for everyone.... Try to mow DRY grass only, when your can. All manufacturers have some sort of "washout port", which give consumers a false sense of performing proper maintenance, but, all it provides is a nice "wetting" of the remaining grass, there WILL be grass remaining, and then you have provided the best environment for RUST. This water will also hide between deck mounting brackets, bolts, etc. for MORE rust... Oh, the spindle bearings just love water too. ;-(

  • @ainttakenanyshit
    @ainttakenanyshit Před 10 měsíci

    Some IMPORTANT aspects that could/should have been mentioned.... 1. Checking the oil without FIRST wiping the dipstick is a shortcut that could yield an INACCURATE oil level reading.... With replacement engines costing North of 900-1200 dollars, improper oil level checks are for people with more money than ...... 2. Checking the deck level, side to side, and front to back with the front blade height needing to be ~ 1/4 inch LOWER than the back to have the blades only cut on the "front swing" of the blades. You do not want the deck level or the rear lower as this will result in "double cutting" , making for a POOR cut appearance.... 3. Failing to mention any recommendation of servicing, with an oil change at about 5 hours.... 4. Some locations will not provide an optimal "dry grass" condition in which grass should ONLY be cut.... With your demo cutting, a water wash-down will be necessary and, as is widely known, water is the best friend of rust and spindle bearing failure....
