What is the name of your fishing rod and what size reel
@@miguelsocarras2255 hey mate. Thanks for your comment. I'm using a Shimano Raider 7'6 2-4kg with a 2500 Reel. Nothing too fancy but super fun. I hope this helps. 🤙🎣
Nice play catch& release bro.where is your location
Thanks mate. I'm close to Byron Bay NSW, Australia. You?

Nice! I am planning a trip to WA for sure. Good luck for you too mate. Tight lines 🎣
If you want to come in wa and looking big fish i recommend you in carnarvon.close in quobba holes and maybe 5 minutes drive to mcleod area .nice for balloon fishing to catach Spanish mackerel and lot of longnose emperor and spangled fish
Leeeeeegend! Thanks for your advice. I will defo keep that in mind. Thanks matey 🎣💪
Where is this?
@@peterpumpkineater6939 This is Brunswick Heads beach in NSW walking to the south side. Have you been? 🤙🎣
What soft plastic and jighead are you throwing? I just picked up the diawa seabass 1062H and I'm quite keen to try it on the beach with metals and soft plastics.
That's a greaaaat rod mate. I'm sure you will have so much fun. For that rod I would recommend a bigger soft plastic. Something around the 4' to 7' with a 1/4 to 1oz jighead size to match the lure. Start with a "white" colour paddle tail. I am sure you'll get loads of fish. Let me know how you go. Enjoy. 🤙🎣🤙🎣

@@DanTheFisho ay would be sick as, what specs would you recommend for a rod n reel for throwing lures into the surf like this? I fish south coast around batemans/ulladulla
For sure. Well... I reckon a rod 7ish foot around 2-5kg with a casting rate of 4g-14g ish paired with a 2500reel 8lb or 10lb braid would be ideal. I use a 7'6 2-4kg with a 2500 8lb braid. If there are no rocks, just take your time hey. I hope this helps. Let's go fishing 🎣🤙
Hey, what rod and reel are u using here?
Hey champ. This session was using a 7'6" 2-4kg rod with a 2500 reel spooled with a 8lb braid line. I hope this helps. Where are you based? Let's go fishing 🎣🤙
Thanks man. Well I'm in Barbados but I may have to come to you, the fishing looks better over there lol
Barbados? That's awesome! Never been but always wanted to visit. Fish on mate! 🎣🤙
Awesome stuff mate... always fun on light gear 🍻 are you fishing in Sydney or somewhere else ?
Thanks for your comment, mate. I just recently started doing this type of fishing. So much fun indeed. I am in Northern NSW, close to Byron. Looking forward to fishing in Sydney sometime soon. You in Sydney?
@@DanTheFisho such a good way to fish ! I'm in Wollongong around an hour South of Sydney. I go to Byron once a year around August for a week or so... when I'm up that way I'll hit you up and we'll go for a beach sesh 🙏🏾🍻

Looks like a fun session mate!
So much fun mate. I will defo do it more often if not windy. Imagine hooking a giant Mulloway in that setup? That's a problem I want to have 🤣 Let's go fish mate. Thanks for your comment 🎣🤙
Better with singles bit aswell when the fish loads up set Ur hooks more so they don't shake themselves I find a firmer hooked initially with taylor holds them on much better so does a rod with a softer tip
Great comment mate. Yes, agreed. I've heard some people use mono as a leader to give some stretch. I haven't tried, though. Thanks for your comment. Tight lines mate. Let's go fishing 🎣🤙
Morning Greetings from. Cairns Dan, Just found your channel and subscribed mate. Great stuff and good on you mate. Keep them coming! Tight line and Best Regards, Charles.

well done Dan!
Thanks mate. I appreciate you 🤙🎣
❤nice session Dan! I love it!
Thanks mate. I've got to go your way sometime hey. Are you fishing much recently?
Thats good to see man, depending on lure size and size of the tailor you are pulling in, i like to mainly use bkk 2/0 and 3/0 hooks. I will use 1/0 on smaller lures. Just a single inline hook pointing up is best and will cut down on fouling up on weed. If you feel like dropping around 35 bucks, my most gun lure would have to be the zipbaits SSM and Monsoon breaker. Absolute gun japanese lures for the beach and the monsoon breaker is like 38g
CID shiversticks and halco slidogs are good to.
Thanks again mate. Awesome tips! I've been using 1/0 but I will upgrade to a larger 2/0 for bigger lures. I tried getting those zipbaits but they are hard to find hey. I will check the other suggestions too. Legend! Let's go 🎣🤙
where part of the world is this ??
I am in North NSW in Australia. Where are you buddy? 🎣🤙
@@DanTheFisho Im in Arizona USA -
Wow! That's awesome! 🌅 What kind of fish do you catch there?
@@DanTheFisho well I fish mainly in Baja California - Mexico which is on the Pacific ocean - right now Tuna and Yellowtail are biting - off the rocks bonita and yellowtail . I fish the lakes for bass and flathead catfish .
Wow! That's awesome. I bet you must be hanging so much fun. I am yet to get my first long tail off the rocks. If you have any tips, I would appreciate mate. Thanks. 🎣🤙
Great video, what size reel do you have on it? I am looking at the 11 foot version.
@rockfly8384 I am using a 4000 reel but it doesn't balance quite nice. I put a Penn 4500 and it balances slightly better but I reckon a reel around the 450gr would be ideal. If you are considering the 11ft one, maybe go with a 6000 reel 450gr give or take. Just my two cents. It feels great though. Maybe a slightly thicker grip would also be cool but that's my personal preference. I hope this helps. Let's go fishing 🎣🤙
FYI: I am trying a nasci 5000 310gr now and feels better already.
I just ordered a Penn pursuit 5000 to go with it. I think it should balance it.
I am sure it will work amazing with it. Fish on mate 🤙🎣

Nice! Those tailor are delicious with a bit of garlic butter
They are so good hey. Never tried with butter and garlic though. I will defo give it a try. Thanks for the tip mate. Legend! 🤙🤙
what lure is this, could you send a link to buy it?
This is a Nomad Rydgeback 40g Chrome colour with upgraded single hook 1/0. I reckon you can find them at BCF. Great little lure. I do recommend upgrading the hooks. I hope this help. Let's go fishing 🤙🎣
Could you make more videos with this rod
Sure can! I have a few already on the pipeline almost ready to upload. It's a pretty cool rod to be honest but I does require a reel around the 450-gram to balance well. Stay tuned. 🤙🎣
Hey there, I do the same style of fishing in Perth WA. Buy yourself a packet of 1/0, 2/0 and 3/0 BKK inline single hooks and change out the hooks of your lures. changing to inline singles and steel core assists will dramatically decrease the amount of dropped fish.
Mate! Legend! Thanks for your comment and tip. Another legend told me the same thing. I changed the hooks, and I am going to try it. Unfortunately, I did not have any luck recently. The weather hasn't helped much but I will definitely give it a try. Thanks again. Legend! Let's gooooo! 🎣🤙
@@DanTheFisho all good man, chuck some stickbaits to on my 14-40g rod I love throwing zipbaits monsoon breakers with just a 2/0 single on the back and the zipbaits SSM is good to
@christallowin4046 Great to know my friend. I like using stickbaits, too. They are killer hey. I will check your suggestion for sure mate. I never tried those you mentioned. I will defo check them out. What line rating do you use for that style of fishing?
@DanTheFisho 9'6" rod (N.S. black hole Hurricane 2) 4000 size shimano symetre 15lb j braid, 10, 20, 30lb mono or fluro leader depending on what I'm doing. Fg knot to join and small Swivel clip to lure. I will upgrade the symetre to something high speed when the wife let's me 🤣
@@christallowin4046 Thanks mate. I use a very similar setup too. I am using a 10'6 rod though. Great to hear I am on the right track. Thanks for sharing your knowledge mate. There is a lot to learn for sure, including getting the wife's approval. Haha I too want to upgrade a few things but need to wait for her green light. Haha have a good one mate 🤙
Keep ya rod tip high in the sky Dan. Then you’ll rip the dogs face off ✌🏽👋🏼

Would it be better to paint the head and put some dots on it for eyes or leave it plain?
That's a great point. I saw some jigheads that comes with little eyes and painted already. I used a few but did not notice any big difference in performance. I use it plain like that. I reckon it depends on the species of fish you are targeting. But I am not sure. I would love to hear what other fishos think about it. Thanks for your comment. Let's go fishing! 🎣 Dan.
