5 inch Gauge Princess Locomotive
This short video was shot by me of the maiden run of my friends recently completed Princess Marie Louise loco. Also included is both my Duchess of Sutherland and a friends Duchess of Carlisle.

This video was shot last at southport Model Engineering Society in July 09. It shows my very own 5 inch 4 cylinder live steam model of 6233 Duchess of Sutherland. A project that took 14 years in total and was built be me for my dad. The video is not top quality as it ws dad's first time with the camera but I'm sure you will enjoy.

Lovely loco, one of my favourite types. Just running in so going at nowhere near full power. Great piece of workmanship and when she is properly run in she will really go I am sure.

Is this gas powered?
no, charcoal soaked in parraphin to get the fire started then its real coal for the rest until you take it off the track

That's very nostalgic! My dad used to build trains just like those, he died when I was young but I remember him driving me on one at the local park he and his friends had set up. They weren't kits! His trains were made from raw sheet metal with brass and copper pieces he would melt and cast into the various parts he needed, the plans he used were from full sized steam trains, he just scaled them down. It's nice to see that hobby is still going strong.

that track work looks better than most of the goods track on american railways to be honest!

We all would love to be in the position of having the time and money and most important to have the skill to put it together. I personally do not have those but I am fortunate enough to live near a preserved railway where I go and help all I can. This gets me footplate rides and that is something else.
