Jeep CJ 258 Manual Fuel Pump Issues - Install
OMG!!! The manual fuel pumps on the market right now are complete crap. Tired of being stranded on the side of the road and seeing fuel leak out of your newly replaced manual fuel pump? Well, I think I've found the solution or at least one that works. In this video we remove, discuss, adjust, and install a new fuel pump for the Jeep/AMC 258 engine.

Jeep CJ 258 Cylinder Head and Valve Cover Installation
zhlédnutí 10KPřed rokem
In this video, I install a new cylinder head gasket, install the cylinder head and the cylinder head bolts to spec. We discuss the types of engine oil needed for a rebuilt 258 engine and for the AMC flat tappet cam. We also install a new valve cover gasket and the valve cover. We cover the type of sealant, gasket material, and all of the torque specs for the fasteners.

I think that my sending unit in the 20 Gallon gas tank is bad. I've tested all of my gauges and everything seems to check out, so it musts be the sending unit, right? In this video we drop the fuel tank, pull all the hoses, replace and test the sending unit, test the ground wire, and finally reinstall it. As a side note, the 20 Gallon poly tank was available as an option on the CJ7s from 1984-1...
Jeep CJ Fuel and Temperature Gauge Problems and Testing

The AMC Jeep CJs fuel and temp gauges are notorious for not working. Most of the time it's because they have burned up due to a bad or corroded ground. But I'm willing to bet that a lot more of these gauges are still good and just need to be tested to see where the real problem is. In this video we go through and test the Ohm ranges for both the fuel and temperature gauges and the specs that th...

    I'm getting ready to mount my body tub.83 cj7. So if we're talking about the rubber mounts, there is mention that aside from thefront grill mount there is another thick rubber mount that is placed in slot number 2 due to a heavier weight ratio due to the the fire wall. As i inspected older pictures of my dismantle..... factory placed this thicker rubber mount in slot 3. I'm interested in your decision process and why factory may have chosen this reasoning. Or was this a marketing propagana scheme for future jeepsters which is the one were in.

    Hey, Cool Guy. A couple of questions. Great video. If I am watching this correctly, why do you splice the resister wire (red w/wht stripe) to the main power wire to the distributor and then back to the starter solenoid? Just curious if there is a reason for that. Also, do you have any videos about adjusting automatic transmission shifter rods after replacing body mounts? I replaced my body mounts with factory size replacements and now it only wants to start in neutral (sometimes with constantly playing with the shifter lever) and never in park. It’s not the neutral safety switch or the ignition switch.

    I'm late to the party. Was surfing CZcams and found your videos on the t150. So, rear seal. No rear seal. If you install a rear seal. You use the gasket that blocks off the oil exchange holes. If you don't use the rear seal. Then, you use the oil exchange gasket that allows the oil to move between them. Without the seal oil is going to move past the bearing into the tcase. If you hill climb, or rock crawl with the oil exchange. You starve the tranny for oil. In most common wheeling situations. It's not problem. Just if you pointed uphill for an extended period. I'm hoping that answers the question. I didn't see it addressed in comments.

    • @coolguy_CJ7
      @coolguy_CJ7 Před měsícem

      Well that is the fun of the AMC electrical gremlins. Essentially, the body, frame, and engine are supposed to be all grounded to each other. All of the gauges ground through their housing and into the dash. The dash in turn, grounds into the body through the mounting bolts, body is then grounded to the frame. Frame to the engine. Engine to the battery. You can do this by scraping tiny spot of paint off to connect with the raw steel or you can run small ground wires to each of the major parts. Either way, you should be able to take a voltmeter and see what is grounded to what. It takes time but will solve almost all of your electrical issues.
