Here's How To Remove A Fish Hook From A Hand - Fish Hook Removal. If you're out at sea and you accidently hook your own hand, you need to be able to get the hook out ASAP. In this video, I will show you exactly how to remove the hook off your hand with a fishing line. Some people call this the string line method. To rub salt in the wound... my reels decides to take of screaming. Now, that's the...

$20k to go offshore with any boat out there. Pretty sure the fish don’t care how much you spent. 😂
How far you go out for Tuna? I'm up to about 70-80 mile round trip 37 miles out 37 back. The water your in looks calm that's always nice
5 miles out. I'm from the Gold Coast Australia.

Is the marine rescue a service that you have a membership
Yes. We have Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) a non profit organisation. We pay an annual membership price. Very affordable. They are just like coast guard. I go with VMR as it takes away the strain off the coast guard.

Well done mate, would've been a challenging cruise home with that hook still imbedded 😮. Extra challenges on a jetski
Hi Mate, yeah there are a lot of these little unexpected challengers that arise, and it's best to learn from other people's mistakes so you are prepaired for them when they happen. I appreciate all your comments on my videos! 😊

Nice!
Drag is set to weakest point in your line , never re tighten your drag once its set thats how you lose the big one. Let him run
See the full video here czcams.com/video/fEr6Bl20wrI/video.html I like to set my drags fairly loose so the fish can feel little resistance and get the bait down deep. I usually find the baits in their stomachs when I do this, and it increase hook up rates. I ended up catching this fish.
Probably lost the fish due to over tightening the drag to early. A crime I have committed more than once
I've lost big fish in the past with overly tight drags. But in this case, you will see that I gradually tighten the drag. I ended up catching the fish, and a shark decided to tax me 😅 Check out the entire video here czcams.com/video/fEr6Bl20wrI/video.htmlsi=-dDj3mUE24e0AKhx. Thank you so much for supporting the channel. Ya man I haven't done that yet. We sucked up a jet ski rope though same situation.
Jet ski in the dark not legal in Cali, because you know, it’s Cali. Would def put some lights up to see in the dark tho…
In Australia, we also need lights on our Jet skis in the dark. We need navigation running lights whilst travelling and anchor lights when anchored.
Good to hear you say never start a jetski with a line out. Its a life saver.
It's crazy how easy it is to get your fishing line sucked up. You just take your eye off the ball for one second, and before you know it... your line is sucked up and you're in big trouble. Thanks for your comment and I hope you enjoy my channel!
Nice mac tuna, which rod set up did you use, John? Thank you for the video. Keep them coming! :-)
Hi Mate, thank you for your comment and for supporting the channel! I prefer to use my saltiga 10,000 with 60 lb braided line, 80 pound leader... as for rod... I prefer my Shimano T-Curve 400 (37 kg rod). This used to be my jigging rod for big kingfish, but I don't do much deepsea jigging anymore.
What ski is that
hi Mate, it's a Seadoo Fish Pro
It's a no brainer...engine on, lanyard on. If trolling you never stop forward motion with a fish on...once landed you can click it in neutral or shut it down. I think a lot of CZcamsrs concentrate too much on the camera instead of what they need to be mindful of.
I have limited experience in trolling, and I had to learn to hard way. I appreciate your tips.
Already thinking about how to slow troll. A fine, brand new, running machine, for starters. And religious maintenance. I know they don't turn at low speed, like a prop boat. My younger brother has four of them. All Yamahas.
The Seadoo Fishpro has an inbuilt trolling mode that you can preset the trolling speed. But the lowest troll speed you can set (I think) is 3 knots.
Thinking about buying one of these things for saltwater fishing in Virginia beach.
Mate, you won't regret it. Life is too short, enjoy!
where abouts? and what bait/ lure
I can't tell you the exact spot as we all have our secret spots. But, I can say... Use live baits and go to Google Earth and look for man made lakes. Also, when using livies, use double snooded hooks and try to avoid using sinkers. This way, the live bait can look as natural as possible. I hope this helps!
Lanyard always attached is the safest way
How fast are they towing you. Looks a bit too fast. Hope you have a tow tap.
Hi Hector, too fast! I've been told you shouldn't be towed more than 6 knots. Anymore than 6 knots, your engine gets flooded. Once that happens, you won't be able to start your engine and need to take your jet ski to a machanic immediately to have the engine removed and flushed out.
On camera they still look white.
fishing on jet ski is not danger the thing is your jet ski is a crape i been going with my jet ski all summer i been caching red snapper . king mackerel nothing happing
Hi Chris, it's great to hear that you have been catching a few fish on your jetski... well done mate! However, fishing off a jetski can be dangerous if you are unaware of the dangers... such as getting your line sucked up and unable to get the line removed. Once you are that predicament, you will need an organisation like VRM to help you. So, this video is simply promoting safety.
Do you guys not get taught how to clear your own impeller? Turn the ski upside down and sit on the hull. You can even take off the full intake grate if you wish but generally a long sharp knife will do the job without removing anything. Saying you can’t just jump overboard to try and fix it is the wrong thing to say! If you can’t fix your ski without wasting the coastguards time and resources then you shouldn’t be going so far out with it in the first place.
G'day @TheMuddatrucker, I appreciate your comment. Unfortunately, we are not taught how to flip jetskis upside down, sit on the hull and remove the intake grate. That may work for a mechanical person who's experienced... but for someone like me... it will be highly dangerous as I would not know what to do. I'm certain I'm not alone. In fact, it took me almost 45 mins, removing the jammed up line and lure on dry land. I didn't dare remove the intake grate just in case I will cause more damage. As for VMR, they provide a service to help people who face dangerous situations out at sea and the reason why we pay an annual service fee. I'm sure you would agree, that unless you are confident in doing all that ski flipping mechanical stuff, it's best not to take any chances and just call for help.
@@JohnCanFishTV the Vmr service you mentioned I’m not familiar with as I’m in the U.K. is it like a breakdown service on the ocean? If that’s a service you pay for then that’s ok to call for help. I just presumed any help you’d be calling for that far out would be a Coast Guard. In the U.K. we don’t really have any rescue service other than the coast guard and I don’t think they’d be happy with me calling them out for a problem that I’ve already been taught how to solve. The hardest part of the whole job for me is having to jump in and get wet/cold - U.K. remember 🥶 You stand on the side of the ski and just pull it over, it’s dead easy. Climb up the back onto the hull and stick the knife into grate and start cutting yourself free. Removal of the grate shouldn’t really be necessary but it’s possible. The only important part to remember is when you flip the ski back right again there’s usually a certain way to do it left/right? I can’t remember, there was an arrow on the hull reminding you the correct way otherwise you’d flood the engine. But like you said, if you’ve paid for a service then might as well use it. Sorry for that, my bad 👍🏻
@TheMuddatrucker it's all OK mate. I'm on the Gold Coast (Australia) and we are very fortunate to have Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) to help us in situations like this. They don't charge a lot (approx 52 pounds per year) but it's totally worth it. This is why I created the CZcams video to encourage everyone who has a boat or jetski to sign up to VRM. It's just another way of thanking them for helping me out.
@@JohnCanFishTV the places you go look amazing! I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like to live there 👍🏻😊 I’ll have a look at VMR when I get a spare minute too. Skis are fantastic for fishing from, go anywhere in any sea state and they just power through everything. But My only gripe with a ski is the fact you only have one engine/propulsion system, I’d like to see these new “Fish” skis have the option of a second (emergency) back up propulsion system. There’s always plenty of room inside the hulls of these big skis so a back-up system should fit in there somewhere. The closest I’ve been to needing rescue was when fishing next to rocks in Pembrokeshire Wales, I couldn’t get the engine started and was drifting into rocks! Apparently what had happened was because the engine was Off and the sea quite rough and constantly slapping the hull, water got inside the air box and caused the starting issue. I look forward to seeing a few more of yours videos later 👍🏻
Gee, that would work well with all the fishing gear. If it is not too bad you can dive and do it, but rolling the ski would be an expensive day.
Nice catch mate.. awesome mahi mahi.. awesome Jetski fishing.. excellent
cheers, mate!
Hi mate do you fish alone a lot ? Your vids are great I enjoy watching them. Hope to see you out there one day
hi Mick, yeah I fish solo as the jetski is limited in space and just enough room for my rods, hahaha! I hope to see you out there. Tight lines.
did it kill itself from the shame of being hooked or something?
nah... it was floating due to it's air bladder.
Thanks John. Because of your video, is the reason I turn my engine off when fish on.
It's great to hear my videos are making a difference 🙂
Trolling without lanyard attached is crazy. Easy to fall of when moving about as you were and ski keeps going. Kill switch/ start key must be connected when underway.
Totally agree. I have it connected to my life jacket all the time whilst travelling and fishing. It may be difficult to see due to the camera angle.
Do you think if your jet ski is equipped with a trolling motor, would that makes a difference?
my engine wouldn't start due to a battery issue... therefore, if the trolling motor was connected to the battery, it wouldn't start either and won't make any difference. From my experience, there is NO substitute to VMR. VMR service is reliable and affordable.
Hey mate, where do you go fishing? Is this Australia
G'day mate! I fish off the Gold Coast, Australia 🇦🇺 😎
I used these with the Team Catfish weight slides to make a czcams.com/users/postUgkxdmsDj7fQXe77DC0l7P7ua8B3PiESUubM Carolina rig and they were perfect for the ponds I fish. I have also used them to make 3 way rigs and these work perfectly. Haven't had any issues with them snagging in rocks or in weeds yet.

How do you contact marine rescue? Which radio do you use?
I don't have a radio on my ski. So I use my mobile. I call VMR Southport. Depending on where you are, there should be a VMR near you. Each VMR have their own contact number. So it's best you save it on your phone.
