This was the moment Max decided to stop playing nice. There was no way he would let himself lose the title after this. The FIA did everything in their power to help Lewis manufacture the "equal on points" farce in Abu Dhabi, but anybody who was paying attention to that season knows that Max would have sealed the title before Brazil if FIA hadn't illegitimately intervened in Hamilton's favor a dozen times.

Lewis didn't care if Max was okay. He asked so he wouldn't look like an inhuman. He was primarily worried about himself and his race until he thought of asking about Max to make it seem like he was worried. Justice followed in Abu Dhabi. I am very thankful for that.

Lewis fan here but this was 100% Lewis's fault, however there is some context. In previous races Max had bullied Hamilton off the track and made it clear he wasn't giving way, Lewis made the decision that he would hold his ground. Any fan of F1 knew this was coming. Senna and Prost, Schumacher and Hill, Hamilton and Rosberg, three best drivers were ruthless with opponents, especially Schumacher who blatantly rammed opponents off the road twice. It isn't a gentleman's sport, each driver is selfish and greedy because that is the mentality required.

Ever since that day I have never been able to like Lewis. Nearly killed someone and could not care less about it.

Lewis's fault 100%. ...but...Max was ok, he was going to be okay, Lewis asked if he was fine, Max was in the hospital beacuse of PROTOCOL not beacuse of deadly injuries. He would have celebrate the same way if this have happend in the opposite way in Zandvoort.

I stopped watching F1 in 94 when senna died, I could not process it at the time, I was very young. After hearing from my friends that there was this new kid making waves, Max verstappen I started watching again and feeling the same joy I did when watching senna drive. I remember watching the silverstone GP and as soon as I saw verstappen hit the barriers I turned f1tv off. It could be an overreaction maybe but the first thing that crossed my mind was that horrible accident at imola. Also I didn't watch any other race from 2021 untill by chance I tuned in the last laps of the abu dhabi gp just in time to see him take his first title. Of course after that I had to watch the other races :')

Na, this ain't alright. Toto sent an E-Mail for Masi to check on an incident, what was clearly Lewis's fault and didn't apologize for Hamilton who just celebrated after like nothing. My first thing I would have done is not to report any damage but ask if the driver is okay. Just like Leclerc! His first question is always if the driver who had a big crash is okay.

The clarity of these comms is pretty dang impressive.

Toto and Mercedes as a whole didn't cover themselves in glory at all, sure there's blame with both drivers neither one is at full fault, but sometimes you just need to worry more about another drivers health than making excuses let alone sending an email to show how your driver was justified. It's actually worrying how they seemed more worried about the possible penalties than Max himself (due to Max's lead in the standings at the time), Lewis asked but the pit guy in his ear almost brushed it off as if the fact he got out the car means it was just minor. Anyone who saw the car after he got out knows how bad it could have been for Max

The reaction of Peter Bonnington irritates me to this day, the tone and the disinterest, then that ridiculous email suggestion by toto, thankgod Massi told him off…… lets be honest, this was a life threatening move by Hamilton, no to be compared with the Monza one which was in first gear (reliant robin cornering speed), Silverstone was a reckless and intentional 51 G horrorcrash.

Those couple of seconds of silence after asking "Max are you okay?" are so scary. His moans after that are just horrific. This crash was an absolute nightmare but highlights the advancements of F1 safety. Those engineer did an awesome job!
