I saw the original Star Wars when it was first released in the UK in December 1977. I watched in awe during the opening moments of the film as the star destroyer filled the entire screen and seemed never to end. I was hooked, the film was new, fresh, exciting and for me (like a lot of us) life changing…

Laf, lotsa skin showing from the ladies, and full body onesies for the guys. Looks about right for the 70s. And 80s. Maybe the 90s….
If this is not proof that Han Solo cold bloodedly "oofed" Greedo... it was clearly premeditated.
No le sabe al lore 😂
Why the hell is this video flipped? Afraid CZcams will pull it for some b.s. copyright reason?
Made by third graders during recess after lunch.
This movie is totally insane. It's like Star Wars on Acid 😃
Marquand sounds like a real dick
I always feel like these wide camera shots without the light saber effects always look better and way cooler than the final product…
80s sci fi b films are the best
i love palpatine so much
Watching this actually makes second-rate stuff like Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and Battlestar Galactica look much, much better. The fact this kind of stuff was still being made at the time, just shows how mind-blowing Stars Wars was visually when released in 1977.
I don’t know how this one slipped by me back then. I would of watched it.
La tía está más buena que Leia😂
I was there at the Sydney premiere. My mum worked for Polygram records who distributed the soundtrack so we got to go for free. I’ll never forget it
Well, I don't think I'll share - YES I WILL
Tarkin is the best non Sith villian in the entire franchise
I can't be the only one who thought they used a giant animatronic for the Bantha in A New Hope for the longest time, right? Talk about dedication for the movie. Think it's safe to say Banthas have also become my favorite creature in Star Wars, especially after seeing this.
"Okay, what if we did star wars but with half naked women every where?" "you're on to something...."

StarCrash producers: "Sure, we don't have a big budget, but our female lead looks really hot in her space bikini." George Lucas: "Hey, that gives me an idea..." 😂😂
Greatest puppet ever.
Han's cantina gf...super hot.
How many people accidentally bought tickets to this instead of Star Wars? Was Star Wars even in theaters in '78?
Okeeh...wasnt that expensive, this production.
Does Ian McDiarmid ever do a bad take? For me Palpatine is the most complete character in Star Wars and that is due to Ian, superbly acted. I for one am glad he came back, his final death was meh, don’t use Force Lightning it always backfires! Damaged himself in ROTS, turned Vader against him ROTJ, killed himself using it in RoS.
"Our own, and the one ruled by the evil count, Darth Arn" *adviser leans in and whispers in his ear* "...ZARTH Arn...."
How have i never heard of this?
Maybe youre too young? I remember when Star Wars came out short time after every Hollywood (and small independent) Studio want to jump on the Train. And because they hadnt much time for to make money they do the movies fast...and cheap. There were many movies like this between 1978 and 1981, but its all garbage. Even the first Enterprise Movie, Star Trek. Bec i was the right age then (born 1964) i was a huge fan of Star Wars and of course (i apologise) i saw most of these cheap movies in theatre. An example about the hype then: They cutted the Pilot and two episodes together from the TV series Battlestar Galactica and shows this in cinema (they made 2 Movies that way) and, no joke, they show the Pilot of the TV show Buck Rogers in cinema, too.
@@drhkleinert8241 I was born in '78 so of course would not have seen it when it came out - but I have seen a lot of older low budget movies since then - It's mostly because this reminds me of movies like Battle Beyond the Stars that I am just surprised I have not heard of it
1:03 -- Distinct "Galaga" vibe!
Budget & the right talent are the things that separate Star Crash from Star Wars……
Before I look this up, does it have the boobies in it?
Rules half of the galaxy. Still a count. Just like Colonel Gaddafi he couldn’t‘t give himself a promotion.
“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” Except here.
This is honestly one of the best Star Wars channels out there. Deserves millions more views, rather than being hidden away like Luke Skywalker on Atchoo.
I actually enjoy these old sci-fi movies. I can even sit quite happily through the old 1930’s Flash Gordon series and enjoy it. I’m not overly concerned with the cheap sets and bad special effects, (after all, I grew up in England watching Dr Who in the 60’s and 70’s), what I like are the stories & the ideas that create the stories. I just add to the bad effects by suspending my cynicism and modern eye and imagining I’m a child again….it works every time.
Looks like a dreadful B movie but I'm going to find it online and give it a watch .
Honestly thought this was a pastiche/parody at first. When he talks about 'the evil Count' it sounds like he's saying something else, and I think it's absolutely deliberate 🤣
Cold wet December and people were still queueing around the block. Didnt get to see it till about January/Feb. Just got in as was about to start.
4k 77,the only way to see star wars at home, before Lucas changed it to episode 4,in 81!...4k80,and 4k83,are now all ready and far superior to those stupid special editions that came out...and all taken from original 35mm cinema prints, not for sale either, and better than the 4k releases on dvd.
Qué es esto por poco entro en coma 🤢
Star Wars meets Barbarella meets Flesh Gordon.
Imagine if Emperor Wang was in Starcrash instead of the count.
I saw Star Wars with a group of friends in Aberdeen when I was 14!!
Can you imagine seeing the opening action sciene in 1977 when you are 8 years old🤯
So much better then than the rubbish we get now…
I was seven when I saw this. Took me and my brother a couple journeys to the cinema because of the queues.
Brilliant! I wish you had the same reel for the French release... I was 4, fell asleep after Tatooine but woke up for the attack on the Death Star. I'm still hooked!!! Also, WEST END? I didn't know that was a district of London. Late 80's, the Star Wars Roleplaying game was released by... West End Games! Cheers ;)
