My Duke will hold his pee until he is shaking and that is when I have to drag him on a leash to go pee with him slamming brakes the entire way! Had to subscribe immediately. Appreciate you and Gus!!

My Great Dane does spoon lol. He loves resting his head on me as well. It is funny because he is a giant dog but is scared of new things. He is also a gentle loving giant, and I am thankful he came into my life <3 I think he helps me more than he knows.

I got my great dane from a really shady breader who was supposed to sell me an english bulldog, there was this small puppy in the back who was cowering in fear and the breader insisted we got him, and she couldnt show me his parents or family or anything. I started thinking it was an american bulldog but eventually it got so big I kinda had to rethink and now I kinda just have a great dane who was supposed to be an english bulldog 😭

No matter how big they are, they will fit into the space they set their mind too. Also, they can sleep in the strangest positions, including ones that look like it should be so uncomfortable or possibly even affect circulation.

I watched this before getting a dane didnt understand. I now have a 3 month and youre describing my dog to a tee 👌

After a lifetime of German Shepherds, this last spring, i got a Dane puppy. Best choice Ive ever made. He is just shy of 6 months & no matter what, he brings me nothing but pure joy.

I never had a dog before but would LOVE to have one someday and a Great Dane is one of the breeds I have in mind.

I came back to say this has helped me so much with my dane . She's a rescue. She's 6 years old and was clearly heavily abused. She was so skinny it was heartbreaking. We've had her nearly 2mnths now and she's ducking her head maybe once a week, so that's progress. But she's scared of every sound. And water, she HATES water like baths and pools. But as you said she drinks a TON of water. She's gained visible weight already. I thought it would take much longer to get her looking healthy. When we first got her, I had to tell pll she was a rescue bec of how skinny she was. I didn't want them to think I did that to her. They would see her and go, "oh" to how skinny she was even for a dane. She is such a lover. So protective. She follows me all over. Doesn't matter where I go she needs to be with me. She's literally the best dog I've ever had. I still love huskies but I'm so glad we found her.

Please help my 8-month-old Great Dane will not jump in the back of my FJ cruiser I've tried to work with him I tried to use a ramp when he got neutered at 6 months but it broke I try to use treats and toys but he will not jump in the back of my truck I've tried to use boxes so we can step up please help

We have a 115 pound labradane (1/4 Great Dane). We adore our Turbo but when he's affectionate it's like being hugged by a 115 pound sack of elbows!😅

I had a Great Dane in High School. Black with pointed ears. He was a wonderful dog. Once he got out during a snowstorm and ran down a blue Volkswagen Beetle, stood on the hood and barked at the driver. He also watched the olympics with me (1976) and whenever anyone ran across the screen, he would growl and leap up. Smart, funny, and great. Max was his name. I miss him so much.

We have 2 now, and they are the biggest and most lovable babies we have ever had! They are like adding 2 more children lol

So true!!! They all have their own personalities - we are on #5 and rescue #6. Tip: we use a horse bucket on a hinge loop at drinking height on a kitchen door. They get it refilled at least twice a day - but they also love drinking from the bathroom sink, public drinking fountains, and garden hoses. Fortunately, little to no slobber.

Fun find: I have found that the blue one seems to be more sticky and grabs the fur better

The only problem I have is my Lola is 1 and a half, it’s only been me her and my two shih tzus from my dad passed away a year and a half ago. She tries to bite anyone that comes near me, not hard but just grabs there arm?🙈 she’s so so protective

Literally every single point is correct, my Great Dane Lola is my baby, she is actually very protective over me and any men around me lol got her when my dad passed away when I was 23 after it just being us and caring for him to his last days, and as I felt so alone, now I can’t be without the feel of her before I sleep. She can’t sleep without being under the duvet lol Great video, glad I know now it’s not just Lola who can’t be without me either it’s a Great Dane thing, cos she can’t be without me either lol she needs to be spooning me to go asleep 😅

Sad that someone has to do a video on this. If you don't pick up after your dog, and can't pick out the right size 'poop-bag" maybe you shouldn't have a dog. Get a stuffed bear or a plant.

I have a question and I would really really really loves some serious help here I acquired a European Great Dane pierbread she is 2 years old now I got her when she was 6 months old the breeders were going to shoot her because they couldn't sell her because she's completely deaf she is solid white with 3 black spots on her upper left sholder she is a precious darling sweetheart I absolutely just love her But I was not intending on keeping her I just wanted her to not be harmed for a disability that She had no control over so I've had her since she was 6 months old she is totally sign language train she knows all her cues I use a short collar that has the vibration setting on it and I only use the vibration with her and it's just to get her to look at me so I can give her a Sin 2 tell her what I want her to do but she absolutely will not acknowledged this is a large girl and I'm a 95 pound woman and she's like a 135 pounds She's a big girl that's 2 years old We're like really huge I mean they're I'm 5 foot and they're like noses that would touch right on my nose I Get her to like mellow she just is 24/7 hype hype hyper pipe pipe and I don't I can't handle her especially because she knocked me down my staircase and dislocated my hip and then when I try to take her outside for a walk on a leash she immediately does like a crocodile death roll every time and She almost broke my arm I have been trying to rehome her but nobody wants her because she's deaf everybody keeps telling me to put her down even the shelters here in Illinois Galesburg Illinois have told me that they can't take her because they would not be able to find her anywhere and they would just have to kill her and it's so wrong I mean she's a great girl I'm just a little person and she is just too big for me I love her to death and I will keep her and let her keep tear me apart As long as she doesn't have to get killed I could really use some serious help because I have never trained a death or a large dog like her the biggest dog I've ever had was a German shepherd Rottweiler and he was the gentlest little giant So her name is Orion and There is any way you could help me out I would so like a 1000 times appreciate this I'm not even trying to sell her I just want her to go to a very good home where somebody understands her and will love her because she's amazing Heck if there's anybody around that could help me learn how to get her to not try to kill me I mean she's not doing an intentional age she's just she's big and she's rambunctious I just can't wrestle with her because I'm not big enough I'm going to put my cellphone number on here and if you can text me any helpful information I would greatly appreciate it my name is angel and I have been taken in abandoned and hurt animals since I was little my Papa got me started when we rescued A bald Eagle on the side of the road it got hit by a car and it's winged up broke and my Papa took it home and he batched wrapped his wing and stuff I don't know what he did I was like I think 7 And he got it to be able to fly again and that that bird never left his yard So anyways my number is 309-351-9380 Also please keep in mind I am a single momma I don't have endless funds or anything I am not financially secure for any type of expensive anything Feeding her is very hard.

I’m a Dane mom on my 7th. They have brought me so much joy I can’t even begin to describe. These are all spot on. I read in the comments that they are leaners and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been knocked over lol. All of mine have slept with me so I had to add a twin bed next to my king bed so we all have enough room to sleep but they all still prefer to be up against me leaving me practically hanging off the edge of the bed. I had to build platform couches to accommodate everyone and they are a cheap alternative to always needed to buy a new couch since they are twin mattresses covered by a sheet. Easy to clean! Now I only adopt seniors or special needs as they have completely stolen my heart ❤️.

We have a male blue harlequin, we have a solid, black female, and in 3 wks we are getting our female BrindleQuin. She’s five weeks old. Our first two are siblings from the same litter. They just turned six years old. My male dog is the sweetest guy and he loves his mama. He knows when I am sad or crying or in pain. He is the biggest snuggler but, he is afraid of a leaf blowing lol

I rescued my great Dane/mastiff at 15 most old...I am 64...he was being mistreated so I stepped in. I absolutely love him. He is not aggressive at all however adjusting to his strength and energy has been an interesting journey. Great job on your channel! The info you post is very helpful....peace from Kansas

The love statement is for real. As a man this brought me to tears thinking about all of your points and remembering my boys. I lost the last one over 4 years ago (bloat during pandemic- the vet would not let us in the building until the very end) I think of them every day. This brought up all those good feels.

No matter how little space there is...there is always room for a Dane :-) There is no furniture of limits, they can reach everywhere and they should be able to sit/sleep where they want. They are family.

We called my boy Gassy Gus. Sometimes his farts made him leave the room if he farted in bed. Makes me miss my boys.

Paybacks for watching him go to the bathroom? No- they like having you watch over them when they poop as you are protecting them when they are vulnerable. And they do the same for you. You are in their pack and Vice Versa. This is a Dog Thing and Danes are great at being dogs. They are also great at couch to couch parkour when you are roughhousing. The amount of ground they can cover in a short time is astounding.

Rescued my gorgeous boy - he was hard work for months- but I love him totally - and he seems to think im ok too. So I don’t want to be away from him for long- he thinks the same too. He comes to work with me most days - every day is a mix and different , he’s cool with that. It’s like having another young son - I love being with him and the feedback is priceless. ❤

My grandad owned a Great Dane biggest troll ever had his favourite chair if you sat in it he’d sit on you a simple dogo , I didn’t know this first time meeting him my grandad let me find out the hard way also a troll I was 9 too soo not strong enough to push him off good times 😂
