This was actually a few updates back. It’s just that recordings look better because your eyes aren’t so close to the screen. Are you on version 66? It’s quite a bit better. Is in headset. Also … a little pro tip. Go to the accessibility options and increase the contrast. It helps it look better. This does impact everything not just pass through.

You can watch it via browser. Turn off hardware acceleration in chrome or edge and try it. I got it working in virtual desktop. But I had to use a browser the “app” blocks you. 🤦🏽‍♂️

True. Some would argue that Apple uses this approach. They often introduce things late but leverage their ecosystem which increases its “greatness” at least to those in said ecosystem. And the “first” product is forgotten

@@TheConstruct_VR With a 4070Ti SUPER you should not run into many issues. With the 4070, which only has 12GB of VRAM i can play most games in GodLike resolution and i prefer to use DLSS to get the anti-aliasing and additional performance. In most games that offer DLSS i can set it to Quality mode, but even Balanced looks great in Godlike. The most important setting is STEAM VR, which definitely has to be set at 100%. Everything else will mess up the graphics pipeline and cause much more VRAM to be used. I am very much into optimization (since i am a developer myself i guess), so i try to play VR on lower end systems too, e.g. RTX 3070Laptop or RTX 2070 Super. Most content creators have higher end GPUs, but most gamers still do have an RTX 3060 or similar. And some people, who are using standalone VR and want to try PCVR become very frustrated, since there is almos no tutorial out there to run PCVR on those common systems.

@@ProgrammistMusic yeah good points. I was running PCVR in a 980ti and an AMD 8350 CPU. I had to pull out every stop to just get it to be playable and to be honest it wasn’t THAT bad. Unfortunately it’s given me habits of holding back on settings even after I upgraded

I truly think that’s how it will work. The quest pro pen tips could write on any surface. I would expect the same here. If you notice near the end the guy was writing on the glass wall of the office. It seems like the mat is just to provide a smooth place to write, it $50 is a bit much for a flat piece of plastic. I’m curious if its texture is anything special. 🤔 Exciting stuff indeed .

Yes! They have confirmed it can be used with PCVR with a few apps. I’m sure this is something Microsoft will want to look into.

@@TheConstruct_VR I’m using 4XVR and it’s free from the App Lab, image is crystal clear and 120hz head movement. Not sure if 4XVR has a lying down mode though.

It’s clear enough. This video isn’t a great example. Look at ‘The Spatial App’ video on this channel and The Fluid Showcase. But you are correct. the reason things look low res is because the quest only records at 20mbs bitrate and only at 1080p. So watching 1080p footage on a video recorded in 4k makes it look even worse. Your eyes are close to the screen in headset. And you can position windows in the other apps the be just right. (Actually even workrooms updated recently to allow adjusting window positions) It’s clear enough to read and very sharp in headset but you have to be the judge. I suggest to try it and exercise you’re right to return.😁

@@TheConstruct_VR hey by the way, have you tried the meta quest 2? do you know if it's a big difference in terms of resolution. For day to day tasks like microsoft office, watching youtube or even netflix (watching on the theatre mode screen)

@@Zenbeau it’s night and day. Yes I owned the quest 2. I gifted it to my father in law. But the clarity is sooooo much better on quest3 because of the lens difference. If you never see the quest 3 then the quest 2 seems fine. But I wasn’t able to go back. It was THAT different for me.

I recommend Virtual Desktop for that. It does have a cost but it’s worth it in my opinion it even has game pad emulation.

That’s odd, never had those issues. Sounds like it was some sort of network issue… VPN, Firewall/Proxy?

I’m sure it’s out there somewhere. I wish I had a backup of mine. But I don’t think it would be worth it because all the best stuff was for collaboration.. which would require you to be online and it would get updated. 🤷🏽‍♂️

On a full charge … maybe. You won’t make it through Avatar Way of the Water or anything. But I’ve always used a battery head strap of some sort. With one of those it can last for two movies… Check out the kiwi design review on this channel. There are a lot of great options out there.

Yeah I’m looking forward to what they have in store for the UI overhaul. Apps like this prove that this isn’t gated by hardware.
