Prevent Pediatric Vehicular Heat Stroke - never leave your child alone in the car #EndTheStreakTX
It's important to know what you can do to prevent pediatric vehicular heat stroke! Remember to A-C-T:
Avoid heatstroke-related injury and death by never leaving a child alone in a car, even for a minute, and always lock your doors so children can't get into the car on their own.
Create reminders by keeping a stuffed animal in your child's seat when it's empty and moving it to the front when you buckle them in. Or place something you will need in the backseat when traveling with your child.
Take action: If you see a child alone in a car, dial 9-1-1.

    Great video. Specially the info about the lower anchors. I wonder if that applies to any car seat. I’m gonna look it up now. My other son weighs more than 40 pounds and we are using the lower anchors on his car seat (different brand). Thank you!

    • @passengersafetykidsafe
      @passengersafetykidsafe Před měsícem

      Yes, most heavier car seats will have lower anchor limits. The lower anchor bars in your vehicle are only designed to handle 65 pounds (both car seat and child weight combined), so they do the math and figure out how much the child can weigh using this installation method. Once it's outgrown, you must switch to using the seat belt for installing the car seat. If there's a limit, it will be by the installation diagrams on the car seat where it shows LATCH installation.

    Does the recline position only allow for the ball to reach the middle for the gray and black zone? If my kid is more than 20lbs should the ball be further to the left (in the black zone)?

    • @passengersafetykidsafe
      @passengersafetykidsafe Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, I believe they want the child to be more upright if they're over 20 pounds. But to be sure, it's always best to check with the manufacturer themselves. They have a customer service line and can answer any questions you have.

    • @passengersafetykidsafe
      @passengersafetykidsafe Před 3 měsíci

      You should always use the top tether. The LATCH system (Lower Anchors and Tether) may be used, or you can use the vehicle's seat belt with the tether. We have a video on that method here: czcams.com/video/1BMLyNfDUnM/video.html

    I’m considering this car seat but I’m worried about lifting it and it being heavy. I have a transit passenger van, so with any infant seat I will have to step up into the van with while lifting car seat and clicking it into base. Do you think it’s feasible? Should I look at different options? Otherwise, this stroller would be perfect for our lifestyle.

    • @passengersafetykidsafe
      @passengersafetykidsafe Před 28 dny

      @@DareDaMonster14 Both methods are equally safe, provided you follow the instructions and get a secure installation (correct recline angle, and the base doesn't move more than 1 inch front to back or side to side when tested at the vehicle belt path). • @passengersafetykidsafe
      @passengersafetykidsafe Před 6 měsíci

      Thanks for watching! You should only pick one method (lower anchors OR seat belt), not both at the same time, as they are not designed to be used together (think contacts and glasses). Using the seat belt is the preferred method per the Evenflo manual. Regardless of which method you use, don't forget to always use the tether!

    If it’s in the middle of black and white (like you have) is that considered okay position for a child Up to 40lbs. I can’t seem to figure out how to get it REALLY in the black zone. I have it fully in the upright position

    • @passengersafetykidsafe
      @passengersafetykidsafe Před 6 měsíci

      Sorry for the late reply! I hope you found the answer you needed, but we always recommend bringing specific car seat installation questions directly to the manufacturer (Evenflo in this case). They have technicians on hand that can help you get their seat installed correctly in your vehicle. You may also choose to get your car seat checked locally by a certified technician. Search for a CPST in your area by clicking on "find a tech" at cert.safekids.org.

    So using the lower anchors vs seatbelt is one or another? Or are both required?

    • @passengersafetykidsafe
      @passengersafetykidsafe Před 7 měsíci

      Great question! You want to pick either the seat belt OR the lower anchors, but not both together (a common mistake). I recommend trying out both methods (one at a time) and see which you feel gives you the better installation. Then go with that method. They are equally safe, provided they get a good installation.

    Hello - thank you for this video. Do you HAVE TO tether the belt behind the seat? What if your car is a compact car and doesn't have this capability?

    • @passengersafetykidsafe
      @passengersafetykidsafe Před 9 měsíci

      Yes, the tether is required on this car seat, but even compact cars should have tether anchors available - it's been a requirement in passenger vehicles since Sept 1, 2002. If you're unsure of where they might be located, check your vehicle owner's manual under the LATCH section. We are available to help if needed - just message our page on facebook (facebook.com/PassengerSafetyKidSafeInitiatives), and we'll do our best to help.
