The only difference is the set of rules. It is still KODOKAN judo.
Jiu-jitsu the father of modern judo...aikido...aikijutsu...bjj...and many styles of karaté jutsu....but dont forget the tai jutsu...l'art du combat corps a corps...
Thank you for uploading...👍
Thank you for the content mate🙏
Nice
Jigoku jime first learned it about 30 years ago in judo
Kata gatame?
Excellent history regards Tony Blackmore
THERE IS ONLY ON TYPE OF JUDO, STOP INVENTING SHIT HERE
This is what I believe about jujutsu 🙏 It was a complete martial art with different styles of fighting methods 1 kendo as sword fighting 2 karate as hand to hand 3 aikido as hand vs sword 4 judo as throw vs sword 5 jujitsu or Kosen vs empty hand on ground level I believe this was the real purpose of the martial arts in the past . 2
Karate has a whole different history. It's not a samurai art. As a matter of fact, the samurai considered it to be a peasant fighting system. Karate comes from Okinawa and has a strong influence from Southern China. It is a group of fighting systems of the Ryukyu kingdom.
O judô kodokan realmente possui uma excelente Arsenal técnico em relação ao combate no chão... sem contar que possui uma excelente didática na forma de ensinamento das tecnicas .
mifune is also a god at feints. if you slow down the video a lot, his throws are timed off of a reaction to a preceding feint that essentially tricks the opponent to jump into his intended throw. shits insane.
Mifune was the epitome of Judo.
Judo is like the Tango. When you know exactly what your partner/opponent is going to do then you can balance appropriately. That's what Judo is, going with the flow like water around a rock.
Mifune. Hot tub next move.
Kosen judo seem very near to bjj..it all focus on ne waza
Ude Garami doesnt mean "armlock" it a specific type of bent armlock like the americana or kimura which kimura was famous for.
I have been looking for this match. The guy doing the move is an old training partner of mines
At that age to be so fluid, agile and devastating in terms of those locks is something really marvellous.
Isn't that basically Japanese Jiu Jitsu?
Anyone who thinks the bigger guy was actually trying to throw Mifune in this video is an IDIOT. The bigger guy is clearly allowing the older guy to throw him… he’s putting like zero resistance
“He’ll flip ya… Flip ya. He’ll flip ya for real.”
Thanks for sharing!
Mr. Nimura is awesome.
So the Gracie's trained kosen judo changed the rules like.. Eddie bravo bjj comp rules from ibjf but thats all because of.. helio he invented the guard and leverage and the wheel 🤷 so kron Gracie and his sons said
Would’ve love to see helio Gracie vs this old master doing a friendly roll at equal ages in their golden years. Just amazing that would be seeing true masters rolling. Not hurting each other.
👍🏽
Kimura was the shihan of mas oyama he gave masoyama he's 4 degree black belt in judo there's no kyokushin if there's no kimura as the big brother
One moment your harassing someone. Within a blink of an eye your face is slamming into the earth. 😂😂 Judo is very underrated for self defence.
Thank you for sharing this
judo become my favourite martial arts after watching the London Olympics
Mayeda taught the Gracies "Kosen" which was a derivative of Juda focusing on the ground game and submissions rather than throws from the standing position.
Judo 🥋 is father of BJJ
Many years ago when I was taking Taekwondo, we would also learn Hapkido (a Korean martial art which is like a combination of Judo and Akido). Well, one day they had a demonstration that involved this 7th degree black belt, probably around the same age as the gentleman in this video. I was the demonstration person for the man's throws and tosses. And let me tell you, I am 6' and at the time weighed ~175, the gentleman was a good 6 to 8 inches smaller than me, but could toss me around like nothing. That went on for like an hour. Oh yeah, he also applied locks on me as part of the demonstration, too. A real nice guy. He was my master's master.
Joe has a good eye for bullshit usually. Not sure why he’s sleeping here. You all actually think those students are trying to beat this 80 year old 80 lb dude and they are all just getting rag dolled? I mean look at some of the submissions. This is absolutely not being done w full resistance. I have been a martial artist for decades and I trained in BJJ for 5 years and have even trained judo. There is zero % chance that is not being done w some level if not complete cooperation.
Karo Parisyan was a good judoka in mma.
Judo people are cool af too. Aikido ppl are arrogant usually
Joe tends to gravitate toward anything that props up MMA which I understand from his background. But they tend to attract an aspect of martial arts that understand it as defeating a person and opponent. That's not it's traditional Chinese goal. The goal of any martial artist is to stop fighting so not one will get hurt. This is one of his more thoughtful videos of someone who has perfected the art with grace and humility. A true master. And it's good to see Judo props. However, the origins of grappling, ground fighting and aikido via Chinese martial arts like Chin Na should be highlighted. I'd love to see Joe invite a guest focused on the root of these martial arts and what purpose it served other than militaristic brutality. Simply because I don't think Joe as a practitioner will gravitate toward that in the long run, and nor should anyone else.
Real Judo, not the Olympic nonsense, is the best martial art.
I liked how he countered the arm bar at the end that was slick
There was a book written by someone called Ed Harrison, I think. He was a 4th Dan Judo and lived in Japan in the 1920’s. His book describes many things about life and practice in those times, including Judo with attemi (striking) which was common, but he didn’t mention Karate at all.
And judo came from japanese jujutsu
My dad is a Judo blackbelt and I can tell you he can really put people down with ease with just minimum leverage with actual people who are actually resisting. Judo is an amazing martial art to learn and I think Judo is getting obsolete here in my place and I'm trying to find some Judo schools. Dad is old now and busy so he can't teach me tho.
Kimura judo goat
I trained in Japan back in 1997 in judo. When I started watching UFC, I was like cool, I recognize all those judo moves the Gracie's are doing. Japan invented the art of grappling, but I give the Gracie's for effectively marketing it so well globally. Fight wise the Gracie's did well, until they met Sakuraba, the Gracie killer.
What is the beat in this video??
it is pretty clear that the big guy is not REALLY trying to toss the master, even tho this is much better than the fake Aikido throws
Just think, if Mifune had lived in Hiroshima or Nagasaki in 1945, we wouldn't have this incredible footage.
