At where 0:49 begins when Jim Young asks about the Series Seven exam and the guy raises his hand, Jim actually did that guy a favor by basically telling him in so many words: get your old ass outta here. That guy was a legit, seasoned broker, and he probably could have smelled fraud the minute he walked through the front door of the firm. If he got caught up in the scam, he would have lost his license. One could see why Jim was so quick to dismiss him.

Gosh I can’t imagine which film inspired this speech. Boiler Room is a pretty darned good film. But in light of Margin Call and The Big Short several years later, it’s truly Glengarry Lite.

Re watching this you can see the guy that says fucking dumbass was talking to the guy in chair like maybe possibly friends, which would makes his remark normal, and then Ben Affleck says after kicking him out that we expect people to treat each other with a level of respect, and once they go into training they treat them with anything except respect.

Its more likely that they want to mold you their way, like a drill instructor in the army. Build loyalty and alnost brainwash u the way they want you. To make sure you're "on their team" if u like, so you'll turn a blind eye to the corruption and criminality and all that.
