Quick kiln unloading with some Amaco and Mayco glaze combinations.
Welcome baack!!
I like your clear glaze. Where you buying that one.
Hi! It is Amaro's HF-9 zinc free clear.
Proper job
Lots of great pots in this opening! I think I may have been the person with the combination of the wasabi and rainforest ( Maybe, could have been someone else). I call it Florida Seafoam, with 70% Wasabi, 20% Rainforest and 10% Mixing Clear.
Where you buying your rolling pin?
Most of my rolling pins are from Clayshare Marketplace. claysharemarket.com
Great work. Thanks again for your clear and detailed explanations of your work.
Very nice work !! I'm a novice and I learned a lot from you - thank you. I look forward to more videos.
Lucky--Delighted to see that you're back playing with clay! Sigh.....
Super joli ❤merci .J’aurais aimé voir les réf d’émaux merci
Thank you! If you would like to know any specific glaze information, I would be happy to share. Let me know which piece.
Love watching your openings. Your colors are bright and beautiful. Some of these other videos are so dark in colors which is why yours is great
Thank you so much!
I love your kiln openings and look forward to each one! Could you please let me know your firings, I know you said cone 6 --- I have had problems with pin holing lately and I bisque to 04 and fire to cone 6 with G mix Georgie's White clay simular to B mix. I haven't used preheats or holds nothing has changed just much more pin holes. Any suggestions I sure would appreciate! Thank you, Vickie :)
Hi, Vickie! I bisque to 05, usually with a 2 hour pre-heat. I fire to Cone 6, but I do have an offset worked in to my firing because my kiln tends to run hot. I hit a solid 6, sometimes slightly over when I fire with the offset. I do a 5 minute hold at the top and shut my fan off right when the kiln stops firing to allow for a natural cool down. I usually only see pin holes on pieces that have a deep texture, and then only rarely.
Wow, so beautiful!!! ❤
Love the confidence ❤
Amaco Iron topped with Seaweed is also pretty dang amazing
Thanks, I will have to try that!
Thank you so much. I just (re)started doing pottery and I am trying to learn how to use glazes and underglazes. So I appreciate very much how you explain your glazing. About the last plate. What are the white lines around the daisies?
When you apply a celadon glaze to texture it will pool in the recesses and leave the raised part a lighter color. So you are just seeing more of the natural clay body showing through the glaze.
Great kiln opening. I love your large green dish.
Thank you so much!
Yeeehaaa you are back!! 🎉🎉 happy your hand is ok and looking forward for your videos.
Thank you! Happy to be back!
Blue surf is the base for midnight rain. I usually glaze blue surf at the bottom when using midnight rain. Reduces the risk of it flowing off the piece.
Great tip, thanks!
Just found your channel...love your work, both form and glazes. Please add more videos, I've subscribed.
Thank you! I will hopefully get more videos up soon!
Great to see your back at it - Merry Christmas and you might enjoy Spectrum or Opulence they have some great glazes as does Coyote
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you as well.
at 26:06 Blue Hydrangea over Eggplant (both Mayco) makes for a gorgeous purple
I don't have either of those glazes! I will have to check those out. Thanks!
Why not use extra kiln stilts to fill in empty space = more even heating........ ?
After this video, I did use that trick on other kiln loads.
When cone do you fire to? gorgeous results!
I fire to cone 6. I find that my Bmix vitrifies better at that cone and my glazes move better there as well.
I cut my cenote with Norse Blue because I find that there is just too many crystals (makes it last longer too :D)
That is a great idea!
Exactly! I put a base coat of Norse Blue and then need only ONE coat of Cenote!
Glad to see you’re back, love your glaze combination 🇨🇦
Thank you so much!
Like your work thank you for sharing. Happy Holidays
Thank you! Happy Holidays to you as well!
Nice that you are back. Love the last platter😍
Thank you so much! I was relieved that it came out in one piece.
Great glaze video cool colors please post more on your glazing experiments I'm a beginner in glaze procedures thanks for posting happy holidays
Thanks! I have some older kiln opening videos with different glaze combos if you are interested. Happy Holidays!
@@luckymudpottery Yes I am interested and Merry Christmas 🎄
I just found you - I love your glaze combos 😊
Now I’m binge watching you lol awesome work
Thank you! Welcome to my channel!
For the pieces with frosted lemon do you use 2 coats?
I usually use 2 coats of the Mayco glazes. I looked back at my notes and for some reason, I used 3 coats on the bowl, 3 coats inside the mug (2 on the outside) and 2 coats on the inside of the cup. I don't really notice a difference between 2 and 3 coats as long as you are applying a decent coat each time.
Sooooo glad you are back!!! Your pieces are beautiful! Looking forward to more videos! Happy Holidays!!
Thank you so much! Happy Holidays to you as well.
Great combos. Loving the bee platter too.. great shade of yellow ❤❤
Thank you! Marigold is a nicely consistent bright yellow.
Oh honey I am soo sorry to hear that you broke your hand!! Ouch!! I hurt my hand badly and it hasn’t healed, it’s been a year 1/2! I couldn’t do anything with clay for 4 months. I made a ton of pinch pumpkins though. And CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING YOUR BLACK BELT! My husband and I own a martial arts company. Hubby teaches second grade and then karate! lol. I absolutely love the bowls! Welcome back and I’m sooo glad to see you again!! I did several mugs with the cinnabar and sandstone and they all crazed terribly! I’m sure you know this but to help the glazes not look streaky you can apply each layer on a different direction. It’s called crosshatching. The other red I like to use is mayco cordovan it’s a dark red. And of course firebrick red by amaco. I’m commenting as I watch. lol. I LOVE the muddy waters over Norse blue. I don’t think I’ve tried that!! I LOVE THE PLATTER! I’d love to know what glaze brushes you use. I’ve always used mayco fan brushes but they have gotten soo cheap!! I got the number 4 ones and you could completely see through them when you hold them up. Thanks again.
Hand injuries are no joke when it comes to being able to do pottery (and martial arts). I hope that your hand is on the mend soon! I do utilize crosshatching when working with known "streaky" glazes, but I have found that extra coverage is key for some of them. I can show my glaze brushes in my next video, but unfortunately, the manufacture info has been completely rubbed off. To be honest, I think I picked them up at Michaels a couple years ago.
Love it, all came out pretty!
I might have missed it - which clay did you use?
I use Laguna Bmix (without grog)
So glad you’re back
Try Mayco Speckled Plum. We use it in combo with Mayco Alabaster on white clay and get very favorable results at cone 6
Thank you for the recommendation! I will be sure to check it out!
I am so glad you’re back!!!!
Thank you! I'm so glad to be back!
Absolutely my favorite kiln opening from you, thank you for sharing your glaze combinations, I've use your Noris Blue / Muddy Waters combo never disappoints! I'm going use Noris Blue / Sandstone next. :)
Love norse blue and sandstone! It has a tendency to move for me, so be sure to use a cookie.
Nice to see you back..beautiful combos
Thank you so much!

Thank you so much!
Thank you .... keep up the share
Nice to see you again. I always enjoy your videos.
Thank you so much!
Welcome back and glad you are back to the clay!
Thank you, I'm glad to be back!
Welcome back! I love the pieces in your video. I still need to learn how to layer glazes. Maybe I should just pick a couple and try??? I hope you’re completely healed 😊
Thank you! I usually look for combos from other potters that I like, and give them a go. You never know until you try. Good luck!
Welcome back! I can finally use some of that muddy waters glaze on the Norse blue combo. 👍
I LOVE that combo! It's the only way I use muddy waters so far. Very consistent!
Welcome back!! Love your pots! Quick question, how many coats of muddy waters on your norse blue cup?
2 coats of norse blue and 2 coats of muddy waters.
So glad you are back in action! Sorry to hear of your break, happy you can throw again. 😊
Thank you! I'm so glad to be back!
So VERY nice to see you again.....your pieces in this kiln opening are AMAZING! ThankYou Hope to see more before Christmas/New Years!
Thank you so much! It's great to be back. I will hopefully have another video soon.
So happy to see you have a new video. thank you for taking the time to share with us. Sorry to hear about your injury, praying for a complete recovery.
Thank you so much!! I took a really long time for the bone to heal because it was displaced and never set. But I am back to being good as new!
