KT Super K Mid-Length for Light Wind First Sessions Review - Kauai Wing Foiling
Review of 6'1" 80L KT Ginxu Super K after four sessions - It Rocks! For best of breed wing and foil gear and solid advice visit: www.PakaaFoilHawaii.com. Use Coupon FreeShip for Free Air Cargo to nearest major airport
Super surfy and quick to get going on foil, the Super K will make a bomber one board quiver for a lot of people. It easily bridges the gap between longer downwind boards and dedicated sinkers for winging in bigger waves and lighter wind conditions. It's narrow 21" width (for the 6'1 80L board) handles whatever gusts are thrown at it, no problem - I did not feel wind pushing on the board as I raced upwind. The board is more stable than the Dragonfly with a more square tail, but still gets planing and onto foil really, really fast, easily a few mph of wind less than a comparable volume wide board. When the wind dropped even more, I was still able to use the open ocean swell to push it onto foil. I felt in a lot more control of the foil especially without straps and was able to turn rail to rail easily. I'd recommend choosing a Super K close to your weight in KG to maximize light wind opportunities. As a sinker for me weighing about 105KG, the board was still magical, but needed a good 14mph gust to get it going in marginal winds. For one session in 17+mph winds, I had the most fun I've ever had playing on open ocean swell, doing continuous cutbacks on 3 foot wind swell.
I chose the 80L Super K as a light wind partial sinker, since I intend to keep the 7'7 110L KT Dragonfly for light winds. Super K was paired perfectly with Onix Osprey 1250 foil, 15" Marlin tail @KDMaui and NoLimitz 85cm Mast, rounding out with great 6m Winghier wing. Seth @sethcre8s chose 80L as well to be just around his weight which works perfectly for light wind and racing.
The shape of the Super K is a displcement hull with tucked in (chined) rails which allows almost frictionless touchdowns and super easy take off. The drawn in tails means you can lean it way over in carves without catching or slowing down.
KT's new boards are completely refined from their previous line with even more exceptional performance and durability. ktsurfing.com/boards/ginxu-super-k-1-carbon/ They are lighter and longer and a huge step up in performance.

thanks for the review. I am going to demo that board tomorrow on Maui. lets see how it goes... :)
I'm completely sold on this shape!
Great video, thank you for sharing. How do you like the Boost foil for efoiling ? How long does it lasts for you ? Wondering how long would it last for kids like 70lbs (35kg).
Aloha, Boost works great with bigger foil and bigger board for efoiling. Usually get about 45 min of off/on for some waves and motoring. Think it would last at least 35 min for 70lbs kids with fairly continuous use at medium power
@@pakaafoil thank you.
How much volume of foil do you need for do this? thanks
Kai is using a 1250cm2 foil with an aspect ratio of about 7 and he weighs about 120lbs. Many people this year are choosing even higher aspect foils with smaller surface areas.
Thanks for taking a moment to demonstrate basics. I especially appreciate you showing a few examples of small mistakes. That can be as or more helpful than just seeing it done flawlessly all the time. Well done!
Great video guys. Might be worth getting a microphone muffler to reduce the wind noise (they're pretty cheap).
Мое табло надо было видеть, когда чел сделал сальто
🚀
'Promo SM' 🤷
It is not that easy lol
700, 850, and 1150 are my favorites for this foil! So smooth for surfing!

Todd!!!!!!!
Nice! How many hp on the boat?
I have a 60HP, other advantage to using a bigger board is you only need enough power to go about 11mph, no need to pull the person out of a hole
@@pakaafoil Exactly. I have 5 hp boat and 130L wingfoil board. Can tow very well but heavier riders needs the boat to carve to generate enough speed on the foil.
Yeah!!!
Awesome!
.001% of people have: docks, a huge house, a foil board, a drone, free time 🤣…. But seriously, nice vid guys.
Surf's up dude!! I ❤ Columbia River Gorge!!
Amazing Nicolas!
Love it!
If you can dock finish I’ll be impressed.
That looks like a young persons game. Puts my back out just watching it.
Great advice!
Awesome video! Aloha!
Can you explain what a breach and a fish strike is?
A breach is where the front hydrofoil wing comes up above the water, losing all the lift. A fish strike is where you run into a big fish.
What an interesting toy! Almost to the level of craziness. A piece of advice - Trying adding audio later indoors can further improve the whole video quality.
Hard to comprehend how they work,i always thought they had some sort of motor
You guys really need a wireless mic! Also, don't read you lines.
This is a very well done video dudes. informative and practical... and it gets you psyched AF
All my foiling questions answered so I better save this video, so as not to be foiled again by the others.
Bro where you shoot this? place was insane
Nawiliwili harbor
whoa. This is possible? Of course it's not easy but I guess if you're fit enough you can go a long distance?
I believe the world record is pumping for over 20 minutes now.
@@pakaafoil I just watched a youtube video of a guy narrating while pumping and he says 30 minutes is normal for him. I think one guy did 200km in a day (using paddle + some surf)
amigoo,yahoo,Omg. good sharing-bye- 📹
Well done! Organized, great tips, good music--loved the outtakes at the end! Thanks!
You don't need a board leash when WakeFoiling (super dangerous). Also it's better to have a shorter Tow rope rather then bunching it up to get closer to the boat
Looks hard work, silly and dangerous in a crowd
male karen smh
cool vid.. not sure when if ever ill be doing what your doing.. but fun to watch and live vicariously.. :)
That’s Right !! Let’s Get Out There ❤
This is SO awesome!
Nice tutorial!
No worries, recommend bring a wing but can certainly rent full gear setups as well. Best south shore spot is about 15 min from Waimea. Find me on WhatsApp for more questions
Hey this is really cool. I live in Australia and wingfoil. My mate lives in Waimea on Kauai and I wanna visit him in July this year. Should I bring my foiling stuff or what? Or can I hire gear on Kauai? It looks murky and not very windy at Waimea. How long would it take me to drive to where you filmed this? Your video has me excited!
Definitely have lots of gear for rental. Best place on south shore is only 15 min or so away from Waimea. Find me on WhatsApp for more info.
@@pakaafoil Thanks for replying! See you soon hopefully.
horrible wing design....complete lack of lateral stabiity
i think the forward "sweep" makes it more efficient. shouldnt the mast provide more then enough lateral stability?
I think there are several factors at play to consider. My experience with higher aspect wings is that as you get a wider span, it's harder to come back to neutral after a carve. The thing I like about the Cloud IX setup is you can ride a smaller span and get the same lift. But yes, I agree as you get more and more high aspect for a wing, it will be more and more technical to ride.
I don't understand the comment of lateral instability. Can you elaborate? I am considering this FS foil
dont agree. its a totally stable foil!!! have the 850 and 550. they turn absolute easy and controlled. coming from tthe kujiras they are more loose laterally. but not the cloud 9 foils
Additionally, I present exhibit A with regard to lateral stability: czcams.com/users/shortsPMOZ3NkcEvI
Why couldn t i start from water with a floatable light board
The longer and heavier the board is, the harder it is to pump. The special new downwind boards are longer and have more volume, but built very light in the nose and tail. Those might be a good compromise
You guys are good, but some advice. Be careful about wind. Microphones pick it up and really mess up the sound. So then go back and make sure your captions are correct. The automatic version isn’t correct here. Viewers do get frustrated with stuff like that, and then they go somewhere else, which you don’t want. But as far as actual content goes, this was a good presentation, with clear explanations and demonstrations. Good luck from Honolulu.
You are ripping! I’m also coming to Kauai in April. 🎉🎉 What is a good spot around Koloa for an intermediate prone foiler?
Great vid guys. I am coming to Kauai in April. Do you guys do prone surf guides? I want a local to give a tour of the good spots
I'm sure that can be arranged. Contact me via my website and/or text.
굿~
Good job guys .
Awsome. Video. I have my boat at nawilli and efoil totally want to get a small board and try it I have a conrad 32in mast and foil will have to see if it's big enough
This is awesome! Aloha!
Someone is going to make a million bucks on this, great idea.
