By Trail, Sail, and Rail: Pioneer Journeys to Zion
Highlighting artifacts on display in the Mormon Trails exhibit at the Church History Museum, historian and educator Tiffany Taylor Bowles shares personal stories from the lives of Green Flake, one of Utah’s first black pioneers, Jean Rio Baker, a British widow traveling across the Atlantic with her young family, and Niels and Margarethe Nielsen, a Danish family escaping religious persecution.
Tiffany Taylor Bowles is an associate curator of education at the Church History Museum. She is an outstanding storyteller and enjoys weaving real-life experiences of pioneers into her education programs. As a former park ranger at the Lincoln Home National Historic Site and as an experienced historic home interpreter and museum professional, she understands the importance of the personal story and how it enlivens historical facts with meaning and connections to modern life.

0:05 Joseph Smith was not forced to flee from the law, he could have rescinded his war on Missouri and turned himself in -- couldn't he? Might have saved his life, got Missouri to rescind their order -- or not make one in the first place.

Trying to associate the 19th century Democratic Party with today's Democratic Party is absurd for anyone talking about history. As President Monson said, even in the 20th century, the values of the world and those of the church were very close. Today, the Democratic party defends elective abortion, gender ideology for children, same-sex marriage, moral relativism, destruction of the concept of marriage and family, etc.

So grateful the Lord stopped me here to hear this message. It has inspired me. Why not me? I loved the Lord and He wanted me to be able to understand this love more deeply. He chose me because He knows that there will be no other way for me to learn the best things He wants me to learn, so I can become the best person He wants me to become. It was me because the most faithful are the most ready. The Lord is with me in every step. During this time of Easter, the Lord has answered my prayer to help me understand and appreciate my Savior's Atonement more by having me experience pain, so I can understand even the least bit of the things my Savior has suffered and felt in Gethsemane. Father, I thank Thee for Thy answer to my prayer. I say all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

You also leave out the fact that the seer stone was given to Oliver, and the fact that President Joseph Fielding Smith wanted us to understand the translation was done via the Urim and Thummim. Also Curch historians need to address the mistakes in Saints for example Brother Nephi and Mary Whitmer, Joseph zions camp and Zelph's mound, the Hill Cumorah visits ( of which there were many) the Oliver Coudry letters, and many other. Read with the benefit of the Spirit and look to the original sources given by prophets and Apostles so you can get to more deal and truth.

I will give my thoughts on the subject. Perhaps a different perspective. When Christ was on the earth his apostles were also limited to what peoples they could teach for a time. We don't know all the reasons why, but it was a divine reason. I should also note that many different churches during the 18 and 19 century were segregated. Now my thoughts. Just as the israelites were not ready for the fullness of the gospel and lived the levitical law. Perhaps to Lord in his wisdom saw that those who were to join the church where not yet ready, and the church would not survive. So for a time the priesthood would also be limited. Remember, God's life in eternal. And for him the time when only certain peoples could have the priesthood confired is very finite. Also remember this never meant that anyone living during that time could not attain gods fullness in the next life. As I am not white I have thought about this. While I don't know the full reasons I do know that Gods wisdom is not my wisdom. And in life, many things do not seem fair. And unexplained. I do know that Christ died for all of us. And we all living now or in the past have the chance to live with God. Rich , or poor, black or white, bond or free.
