LoRa can be tracked easy it's one of it function i read.. so yeah don't use if you wanna be stealthy. anyway about the snow covered mountain thingy it would be a good idea to have 1 LoRa with you one at your camp/base then maybe put a solar powered one outside that way it will be more easy to find you if you get lost.
