    Absolutely love this could I have possibly how far apart do you have the whips and what are you using for cold-phased coax? Is it 75 ohms and do you have it set up where it splits off and then you have it on each radio your upper radios for the center core and then your shield for your lower ground rods or radials?

      Thanks for the interest. It's my version of John Winegards "MB-27 MULTI-BEAM" phased array antenna from 1960. Originally designed for the television RPU Band at 26MHz. Phasing is variable and remotely controlled. It can be used in Omnidirectional, Bi-directional or Directional depending on how it's phased, all remotely controlled from the operating position. Both antennas are independently and continuously driven based on phasing and pattern desired. Element separation is 4'. The phasing harness has multiple tuned stubs within the boom that includes multiple variable impedance matching networks that are switched remotely. Impedance varies from 20-150 ohms unbalanced. It's balanced at 52 ohms. Bandwidth at its designed frequency is 9MHz if I remember right. I have it mounted in a fixed position on a balcony for this video, but it would benefit use of a rotator when used directionally. Some day I would like a stack of ...more of them. I envision 4 sets of stacked pairs, with each stacked pair on a rotator and all four stacks rotated as one antenna in a steerable array. ...someday.

      There was unusually high amounts of digital traffic, much of it very widebanded, normally not seen in this part of the spectrum, on Thanksgiving Day. I attempting to show some fellas in the state of Washington what it was that I was talking about over the air in the video. But, I failed to record the audio... Without the audio, it would appear confusing. I agree. I'm in South Dakota. The fellas that I was describing what we're watching in this video are in Washington. They couldn't see what I was seeing (what we're seeing on the screen here), so I had told them that I would put the video up and they could see what I'm seeing as we were talking.. It's unfortunate that I had mistakenly turned the audio Off on my video capture software. I didn't realize that I had done that.. It was all very intensely interesting at the time it was happening.

Check back in a day or so and I should have the re-upload posted. Yes a very strange day with this part of the spectrum. I'm still not clear as to what it all was about.

    • @captainmidnight5958
      @captainmidnight5958 Před 9 měsíci

      I've now realized after many attempts of converting the MKV file over to MP4 that it was not the software failing to produce the audio upon conversion. I had inadvertently turned the audio Off at the capture software, thinking it was my external microphone that allows me to annotate on top of the video screen capture. I apologize. I really wanted you fellas to hear yourselves in there.

    I just did this and used masking tape until I built up enough to shim it and it works great now!!!!! It was jambing up on every cig and couldn't get a full one for anything. I agree the grease guy is a freaking joke, cigs are bad enough without smoking the grease.

    • @captainmidnight5958
      @captainmidnight5958 Před rokem

      Glad it worked for you. 👍 If the tape compresses and it becomes increasingly difficult again, just replace the built-up tape with a piece of metal that won't compress. The pivoting wear will still continue to increase over time, so we just increase the shim thickness over time to counter it. 👍

    • @captainmidnight5958
      @captainmidnight5958 Před rokem

      Not sure what you mean.. This, the 4022, predates the Mocat, but is the radio that the Mocat is derived from. It has built in speech compression, power mic, TVI filtering, noise suppression, automatic RF Gain... It's a trickle-down result of their commercial two-way experience. The mic plug, for example, could be disassembled with a ballpoint pen. It wasn't a inexpensive radio when new. Motorola had some very fancy stuff lined up for the CB market that was never produced, due to that market crashing within the next couple of years. Nearly every American manufacturer of CB's went under shortly after this radio.

      @@captainmidnight5958 I know a lot of departments use a certain brand. I know Motorola was the go to for public safety and outfitting them with Motorola CB radios on top the the Motorola police radios they used. I remember when they came standard in my area for all police cars.

    • @captainmidnight5958
      @captainmidnight5958 Před 2 lety

      I'm slightly high. I've been slightly high on the voltage more times than not, but I do very little local work. I turned it up a bit more to where I use to about where I use to keep it. I had originally used a second VR in the meter to tame it down when I mocked it up, but decided against installing it when I turned the voltage back down, thinking that I could always add it later. Now, I think I'll leave the factory meter where it's at and put a fixed resistor in the meter at a Local/DX switch. I'll just switch it In to scale it back. But, ...understand that 455 in Georgia is running a 6 element beam and 1Kw that has nowhere near a power supply that is capable of sustaining his amplifier for anything more than a handful of seconds at a time. That's his transmitted audio as a result. He starts out fairly clear and his audio degrades into a horrible mess the longer he keeps it all keyed-up. He's running one of those computer power supply homologated things with some batteries.
