I had some time today watching games at the shop, not really doing anything. So I decided to make a little narrative
Loving that pivot socket
My Isuzu keeps breaking vacuum pumps last one just last 70 miles I have replaced 4 this year . any idea what other issue could be causing it
Alot of them are built cheaply, but you can check the 2 pressure sensors or install a dummy and switch to an electronic vacuum pump
@@bensanson5992 I have bought a cheap ones and two from the dealership but same . I was wondering if a filter between the hose could be stuck and blocking air coming tru . I’ll check those sensors Thanks
What attachment is that for your drill? Never seen that before?
Good video, thanks. Was that the electric parking brake that stuck out from some part of the caliper assembly ? Getting a message on the dash that it needs servicing. Perhaps it has it's own pad depth indicator? If you know, appreciate it thanks.
My light and buzzer came on. After watching this video i tapped on the pump with a wrench and it stopped.
The one I’m working on the noise shut off when accelerating but returns when brakes are applied and pretty much stays on after brake is applied most of the time.
Sounds like under a load the pump is building vacuum but the system is leaking it off
@@bensanson5992 you are exactly right buddy
Glad I could help
@@bensanson5992 I actually was thinking the vacuum pump was worn out and weak, it made loud slapping noise when revving up engine don’t know what that meant but it’s sounded like it was bad, changed with new one and solved the problem. Had to get another pulley though because the puller warped the original pulley while I was pullling it off the spindle. It was really tight on there with a some rust. I sure appreciate your video as technician I did not even know where to begin, then I saw your video and everything made sense. It needed an actually vacuum pump since it’s a heavy vehicle designed to carry heavy load, manual braking is not gonna stop that thing if something goes wrong. Then just in case engjne stall the electric booster will provide braking assist which turns on when mechanical pump is not working
How much vacuum should it have when it is pressed on ? Complaint won’t stop and buzzer goes off
Mine was 20 to 25
Did you do one of the rear pads?
Always both
Part number on the pump? I get a bunch of buzzing when I turn the key to run, after start it goes away
So that sounds like it doesn't have vacuum and then builds it. Look for a leak
I have a 2019 chevy 4500 and have the same issue. Chevy is backorder until who knows when. Any other part that will fit. Gas engine
Check for an electronic vacuum pump. I changed it out on another truck andits working
Where you buying?
O'Reilly
Do you have part number
Thanks for posting. I've done plenty of brake jobs but I want to see EXACTLY what I'm looking at this time.
An OEM Isuzu pump is over $1,200.00 I've only gotten about two years out of the aftermarket pumps that cost $225.00ish. I'd like a better solution.
Great Video! Anyone know if it’s possible to rebuild these?
Does the inside electric pump make the buzzing sound, because the Vacuum pump on the engine is ripped inside? Mine makes that same noise, now the truck wont start.
How much vaccume psi does it pull when working correctly
So if there is suction at the pump line does this means the booster is faulty
Could be, there's a couple other parts to the system
“it’s not rocket science” *proceeds to struggle* 😂😂 good video man
what are the symptoms that led you to the vacuum pump? im having issues with low vacuum on my 2014 6.0
The brake booster light screaming, and then I checked vacuum, found none. Checked the lines, they were good checked the pump
@@bensanson5992 the brake booster light goes off and on on mine. same with the electric pump screaming. i have vacuum at the belt drive pump. idk how much tho. pedal feels normal. listened to everythong with a stethoscope. starting to think its either the belt pump or the vacuum sensor
They also sell a vacuum pump kit with a retro fit pulley. I've done a ton of these. They are so defective we stock them at our shop.
Where can the kit be purchased? Is the kit the same for diesel and gas? Thanks for any info.
@@MC-dj7ri the pumps we had were factory ordered from isuzu. All of the trucks we had were Gm 6.0 and 6.6 Powered gas trucks. I believe the diesel is a completely different configuration.
@@smallchunkaground2071 cool man. Thank you for the response.
@smallchunkaground2071 Do you have a part # or more info on the upgraded pump kit?
GM is supposed backed ordered 2+ months on pumps. The only place i could find one was on Amazon. $89.00. First one lasted 60 miles. So i ordered a second. That one lasted 50 miles. 2019 Isuzu 6.0 gas.
What brand pump do you buy that goes out every 2 years
Dorman
What was the part number? I can find some dorman ones but the websites say they aren't the right one so just wanna verify before I buy it anyways
Does a bad pump squeal as well?
It can if the bearings go bad
Very helpful and instructive video. There's almost no information about Isuzu's vacuum pump, so thanks for posting. This was an excellent guide for my vacuum pump replacement today. Two minor thoughts to add: 1. I disconnected the fan shroud immediately above the vacuum pump for greater access 2. I used a small magnet at the end of the 13mm bolts to help guide them in. I kept dropping them when doing by hand alone. thanks,
What the tool used to removed de wheel for parts
Do you change
My break pedal goes all the way down and i also get the break booster light and sound could it also be the same problem
All the way down? Check air in the lines or a bad master cylinder,
I have a 2005 gmc w3500 same issue light and loud sound I’ve changed front/back breaks replaced lines and changed master cylinder and break booster today same noise🤦🏽♂️🤷🏾♂️
Did you say the lovely sound is the vacuum pump down here by the booster? Is there really a vacuum pump there or is the vacuum all produced by the belt driven pump?
The electric pump is back up just in case the mechanical vacuum pump wears out
Did it fix the problem? My nrp truck has same light on with the noise and it goes away after 10 seconds or so and when i pump the brake 5-6times the light and noise comes back on.
Yes it did
Hey man what was the issue
Did you ever fix your problem? I’m experiencing the same exact thing
