Central Ky Bushcraft
United States
Registrace 11. 03. 2019
This channel is for people who love the outdoors. First, I'm NO EXPERT, what I show may not be what some consider the right way or even the best way but this is what I was taught or what I've learned. AND I'M STILL LEARNING as we all should be. I'm located in Central Ky and have spent my whole life running around in the woodlands of this area. As I've gotten older I have gotten to the point where I would love pass on some of what I have learned to others and as well as hopefully encourage others to get out in the woods. Thank you for your interest and I hope we can continue to learn together.
FIUF #31
In this video I do a simple Fire It Up Friday using the ferro rod and striker given to me at the Central Ky Bushcraft Gathering by Joe from The Wooden Iron Cookie. Along with some fatwood he gave us there as well. Go over and check out his channel!

In this video I give my first impression of the CASE XX USMC fighting knife. Case was never awarded a contract to produce what has become known as the Ka-Bar fighting knife but in 1992 they started producing a copy of the knife they presented to the military for testing. I am very impressed with the construction of this knife and am very happy to add it to my collection.

I really love the jg3 and the 4hm. They are great knives. The jg3 will make you leave your azula at home… at least it did for me

I was watching your esee3 video on Friday, when you talked about using a heat gun to secure the hold a little better without a lot of rattle. I was talking with my wife about your video and i told her i really like your videos and i recently made a Kydex sheath for my esee3 and was wondering if i made another for your esee3 ,if you'd give me your honest opinion/ review of it, I'll make it, and send it to you Free

I'm not a bushcrafter , but use the 3 & 6 for hunting and general outdoors use. Thanks for your video and all the best.
Case is one if not the only knife brand that is fully made and produced in the USA. I love case, always have. It’s sad to think that old timer and K-BAR both are now made and produced in China with extremely cheap metal. I honestly hate China so much because they ruin so many and have ruined so many used to be good brands. Gotta love case though, they didn’t and haven’t sold out to anyone.
I’ve got several Case knives and every one has a sentimental story to go with it. A good USA made knife is hard to beat. Thanks for watching
@@CentralKyBushcraft agreed, no problem.
Nice knife. Great story.
Ok, ok, subbed!
Lol! Glad to have you aboard! Thanks for watching
I think it's called a turkish clip point , also i reckon if they would have released it with a satin or polished finish every reviewer would have said it's the best woods camp knife. Put a black or bead blast finish on a blade these days and automatically it's a combat knife. Any knife can be a combat knife it's the person holding the handle that makes it a weapon. I've seen pictures of old American bowies that look identical to this knife in profile.
I’ve heard it referred to as a Turkish or a California clip. Not sure which is correct. I agree with you. It all depends on the person using it. To use an old quote that I’ve heard over the years, “Beware the man who only uses one weapon, because he knows how to use it !” Thanks for watching
Bro ESSE in my opinion is the best USA knife, and knife company ever... If anyone is looking for any fixes blade it's ESSE... ALL DAY, EVERY DAY... BTW... no one needs to see your nut sac/package... Change your camera angle... What a freaking turnoff... For guys at least
Polish the handle with boot polish. I am likely one of the last to have been issued this knife (it's more of a dagger). I was issued one of these by the ROKA Rangers in 1977. It was the best throwing knife/dagger with good weight to it with good steel. Without the bayonet hole punch, it is extremely well balanced. I personally think it's more like a dagger instead of a knife because of it's much better weight aerodynamics when compared to "knives or K-Bars". I wish I could find a few today as they made for great consistent flight throwing fun.
Thanks for the info, I’ll try that and see if it tightens up. I agree, it’s more of a dagger design than a field knife design. I can see where it would excel in stabbing and throwing. Thank you for your service and thanks for watching
@@CentralKyBushcraft The m-3 and it's like bladed bayonet cousins, all had/have more penetrating power than an average style knife. It would be much more difficult to try penetrating a soldier's clothing, parka, coat or pile cap with a standard style knife blade, yet the thin dynamics of the m-3 and like bayonets makes that task more easy to push in. And... though throwing is always a bad idea, most of us just loved that pastime, but it hits like a brick and has very flat stable flight characteristics with no spin needed out to about 12 feet. I'm just an old guy enjoying your shows, Thx!
I just bought one on Amazon Canada and the next day it went up $30. It's a nice knife but the price is ridiculous. They now want $240 which is absolutely ridiculous.
I agree with you there! I gave around $120 for mine I believe ( to be honest I don’t remember). They are now up to about $150ish at Smoky Mountain Knife Works. I love mine but I don’t know if I’d give the new price for one. Thanks for watching
Do Cold Steel Kraton handles hydrolyze?
I wish I had an answer for you but I don’t. Sorry. Thanks for watching
I have a CS Drop Forged Survivalist for about €90,-- Now, I really like the looks of Esee6 a lot, but they cost more than 2 times the price, about €210,-- over here. Sincere question : Is the Esee6 really 2 times 'better'? Stronger? Tougher? Stays sharp longer? Thanks in advance to all responders! Greets from the Netherlands 🇳🇱, TW.
The cold steel survivalist series are made from great steel if my memory is correct, 52-100. I can say that the ESEE-6 is tough! I’ve batonned it through hunks of wood where the blade was bowed and it straightened back out with it came out. I’ve reprofiled the edge on mine to 20 degrees and haven’t had any issues. I’m not sure what the exchange rate is over there but every once in a while you can fine knife only deals for less than $100 here. Thanks for watching
@@CentralKyBushcraft : thanks, appreciate it 👍
Thank you so much! 🙏
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching
Every time I sharpen a coldsteel knife to 25 degrees, it chips .love my srk though !
I had the same issues with the one I had in AUS-8. It would chip or roll. So far no issues with this one. Thanks for watching
Can I kill a bear with this knife?
I would advise against it! Lol
These are insanely good for the money. In these tight times, that's a real winner.
I agree completely! Only thing is to make sure you get a SK-5 version instead of a AUS-8 version. The AUS-8 version has a tendency to roll its edge when honed to a razors edge. Thanks for watching
Thank you! A very great idea! You have wisdom!
Dang brother sorry to hear y'all going through so much stuff
