Whaley Bridge ! this channel is all about the Town of Whaley Bridge in the High Peak district of Derbyshire, England . A historic town of 6500 People described as the gateway to the Goyt valley and the Peak District National Park beyond that (a favourite of walkers ) . Known for its historic canal and canal basin and transhipment dating to the 1790s transporting coal and limestone and other goods to Manchester 16 miles away during the industrial revolution , now used for leisure boating . the Cromford and high peak railway 1825 also terminated at the canal basin and carried goods across the hills to the Staffordshire canal system .
2019 the Todd brook reservoir dam spillway put the town on the map after it became damaged and made world news and still attracts tourists to this day

on the 10th of may 2024 the aurora ( Northern Lights ) was visible due to a large solar flare (g5 level) hitting the earth , the show was spectacular to the naked eye in Goyt valley in the Peak District near Buxton and Whaley bridge .i made some timelapses of the events
