Nice video! Ive been thinking this for quite a while now because my Rotala Wallichii have been growing for quite alot in my outside tank because i have nowhere to put it along with some Water Sprites and other plants
Wow Wallichii is a hard one to grow. In spite of high lighting and CO2 mine went from red to green lol. Outdoor is definitely key! Good luck with selling your plants!
Best easiest plant! I love them and have few beautiful ones in my tank.. I disagree with your statement… buce’s can easily survive in colder easy water; I have these and a few prettiest ones and my tank is just a low tech and cold water and they are thriving!
Couldn't agree more. I love them!
@@GavinKohAquascaping I am in love with buce’s… anubias a bit less but for pinto and gold which I have in my hanging root garden; created roots myself by glueing pieces for days and then anubias on them but my iwagumi tank is all buce’s … I create aqua Ukiyo-é which is unknown to even Japanese but it is where I get my inspiration for… those traditional Japanese paintings and a holy trinity of nothing more than 3 prominent pieces of whatever you focus on in your design.. go easy, go minimalist and go 3! The buce you found is available at two stores here in Paris (Yes THE one!) and they are lush and full and rather cheap actually and wish you could get them. I know in this online plants in Netherlands you can get them too whenever they have them in stock
A very nice video. Looks like bucephalandra plants get vibrant colors from the NICREW Full Spectrum light. Please let me know your light settings (W, B and how many hours per day ... etc)
Thank you for your comment! I don't use Nicrew, I'm using Finnex 24/7 HLC. I have it on full for 12 hours a day.
@@GavinKohAquascaping OK Thanks for the quick reply. I thought it was a Nicrew as in the description it links to Nicrew lights. Do you have a link to Finnex light that you are using for this tank?
Wow. You had to be there just at the right moment to video this.
That plant is beautiful. Just wait till it gets big enough to propagate and you will get many more of them making it worth all that money. Keep up the good videos.
Thank you very much!
Very helpful! Thank you for the knowledge.
Wow. I really liked your video. Beautiful tank. Your voice is very soothing to listen to. Thank you for teaching me how to propagate.
Thank you. You explain things very well. Much appreciated.
Thanks for stopping by!! 🙏 😊
Buce collector here. Hope it survives. I received buces that were 5 weeks in shipping with no water and survived. One fast grower rizome can give you 10-15 other rizomes in a year that you can sell. Where do you get that ROI? My most expensive buce was around $8 and I think I sold around 25 of them and have like 50 more. I just uploaded a video of it. czcams.com/users/shorts5gM39_GLqXE
Very well spoken, honest, and encouraging, Gavin. And well produced. Thanks!
Great video. I'm not into Aquascaping and still was fascinated by the story, the suspense, the fortunate outcome, and what lies beyond any particular outcome which is one's own maturity of self trust and allowing oneself to take risks. Well done, Gavin!
Scrolling plant videos and geting a nice life lesson, great work! Can I ask you if you have co2 in your tank? Could that have influenced the growth of the plant? Thanks :)
Thanks for the nice comment. Yes, I use CO2 for the express reason to make the Buce grow :D The ones that don't really "need" it, like Kedagang, grows even faster!
Those plants have gone crazy.. WOW
Great site
Thanks so much!!
Strangely satisfying to watch. Watched it over a couple times lol.
Whaaaa.....what's happening to your carpet? Why?
It was getting messy and I had to do a replant :P
Have you had to rip up your carpet before? Was it painful but necessary?
I am looking to propagate some bruce. Can I easily detach them from the rocks? I am probably going to put them on wood in future tank, but cannot attach just yet.
Oh yeah, if you glued them, just gently pry them off. No problem at all. I do it all the time :) If you didn't glue them, it is even easier.
I have failed more times than succeeded. It takes a toll, emotionally. I continue learning from my failures and each progression gets better. This is my drive.
Are you referring to growing Buce?
What cure for black hair algae in buche plants?
I have a video on my channel about BBA have a look at that 🙂
@@GavinKohAquascaping it's that save for fish?
This Story Ark was great! I also like your production values and speaking style! I am going to start my own terrarium channel soon and I hope I can deliver a video of this quality one day! Great Job 🥳
Thank you! Best of luck with your terrarium channel, let me know when it is up, love to see it.
Thanks for putting yourself out there and good for you following your passion. I think some people are meant to be self employed, you got this!
Thank you very much! It’s a definite journey!
Are you Konko? Kami Sama says your in my spaces in CZcams to realize the universe is in the space.
I got a variegated anubias nana, but I underestimated how much light a variegated plant needs. It keeps growing new leaves, but my bladder snails eat all of the white parts as soon as it grows. I guess they can tell and determine that it's dead if it's not photosynthesizing. They leave the green alone, so I have the weirdest looking anubias.
How interesting! I also have a nana pinto with a ton of snails and so far it’s okay. Bit like you said it might need more light 💡
@GavinKohAquascaping I think you have a much better light than I do. Also, my snails might just be jerks. :)
I'm going to come up there and take your wallet away from you 😂 Kidding. I really enjoyed this video. Beautiful investment for sure.
Haha, I need someone to do that for me 😛
There are some plants and fish that I don't tell my wife how much I actually paid for 🤣 "oh yeah, it was only $10...yeahhh....mm hmm".
Wow, never realized that there was a variegated buce species, great looking plant and well worth it if you ask me!
What's the most you've ever paid for an aquarium plant or animal? 😀
Great video, high risk hi reward! I was also worried when I bought blue Ramshorns from Ontario. Now they are doing well at home and Aprils. Keep up the great work! If you want some let me know! Be happy to drop some off for ya! Love your videos!
Thank you for your comments and kind offer! I’m good for now with fish. Tank is very full, but I’ll definitely keep you in mind! Cheers!
what is the status of this? in the video you said there would be an update in 30 days....
Status is good! Video very coming soon as I had other videos to make.
Very helpful, just picked up a cup from April’s. Thanks for the instructions!
Thanks for watching!!
Great to see how you do things just like this , so healthy and when you compare the quantity , quality and most likely an easier transition from your aquarium into the water it's heading.🍁
Thanks for your nice words! 🙂
@@GavinKohAquascaping I am just curious what your thoughts are on some of the open glass style made for Wabi Kusa etc. ? I know something just like that would be a great gift from anyone, especially seeing the way your plants are so gorgeous and I don't know if you enjoy that style LANDEN is $45 and ADAi DOOA Glass Air is at $ 75 , l know Small items when brought together have an amazing potential , what started it for me was seeing The Karate kid 1985, I have been enjoying creating inspired by Mr. Miyagi almost 40 years ago and I have never forgotten why it's important to me 🙏
Great looking plants!
How do you pay for your aquarium hobby? Do you sell your trimmings too? :)
One the easiest ways to get cheap plants on the internet thanks to people like you and if one takes care of plants, they can take care of you❤
Aw, thanks for your nice words! That's so affirming to hear on a spring morning! Good luck with your channel!!
Perfect video! Concise but with all the information we need. And I appreciate the transparency about how much you’ve made over time. $83/month on average may not seem like much to some people, but I think this setup is much more realistic for the average hobbyist than making room for a bunch of 40g breeders and filling them with rare livestock.
Thanks very much for your nice words! Personally, I'd love to have more aquariums, but I live in a small apartment and thus far this has worked quite well for me. As I mentioned in the video, I found an easier way to grow plants through seedling trays; I've bought a ton more since and looking to see if I can make a bit more money with a lot more plants. I'll update you with a video for the new setup and if it is a success or a flop! :P
If i look on youtube, many aquascape-tubers have more or less the same content in the same time. When i was looking around, i was seeing many video's about the dark start method or the dry start method for a new aquascape. But these video's are all like 3 or 2 years old, and all of those youtubers don't talk about these methods anymore in recent video's. Does that mean that people think otherwise about these methods nowadays? or are they still valid, but since they talked about it allready, they see no need to update it to this year? I am starting a aquascape soon and i was thinking about doing the dry start method, so i can start with less plants and skip the algae phase. What are your thoughts about it?
Great video 🎉🎉🎉..what kind of led do u use I like it....
Thank you! I'm using the Finnex Slimline 24/7. Reasonably priced too!
Hello from my fish room in channel in Chicago! What a terrific video. So helpful and thoughtful. I love your FB page as well :)
Hello fellow aquascaper! Always appreciate your support! How's your youtube journey coming along? I'm looking forward to AB testing once they roll it out for everyone.
I enjoy producing my channel commensurate to my fish room! I found your latest video on selling plants because I'm looking for some quality stems grown under water! Harder than it should be :(@@GavinKohAquascaping
Good video, thank you. Can i ask how do you ship the plants? Or do you meet up with people in person?
Thanks for watching! I currently only do local pickup. Haven’t got to the stage of shipping…. Don’t know if I will cuz at this point, but you never know 🙂
Buce Kedagang is legit. I've made $1.3k over the last 5 months from mine.
wow thats inspiring!
Always appreciate your support!!
Nice side hustle....thanks for the tips
Thanks for watching, appreciate the comment!
hey gavin - try CA glue and an accelerator. you put the glue and then spray it and it dries instantly! ps. i love your videos!
Hey thanks for your comment and suggestion. I've been looking into it and will give it a shot when I do my next rescape!
Lovely
Don't be CZcamsrs. Be yourselves.
Amen to that!
Great info! Just ordered some Bucephalandra Kedagang. I ordered some Godzilla a few days ago but more couldn't hurt I guess 😂 I may have to redownload Facebook now! Thanks for the video!
Hey, love to have you in the FB group! It truly is a drama free and friendly place. As far as the Buce goes, I can never tell what the difference is between Kedagang and Godzilla, they both look the same lol. Wish they nail down the nomenclature for Buce. If you do join, make sure you say in the membership questions that you came from here and your YT name. Hope to see you in there!
Cool idea to sell aquatic plant trimmings! I'm sure you can make more if you expanded your aquariums.
I plan to! Stay tuned for upcoming videos ;)
You've done a great job with your aquarium and plants. You gave me ideas on what I can do with my aquarium plant trimmings now!
Thank you! Good luck with your plans!
