The NSW Resources Regulator was established on 1 July 2016 as a standalone work health and safety regulator for the state’s mines and petroleum sites. This includes open-cut and underground mines, petroleum sites, quarries and extractive operations, tourist mines, opal and other small scale mines, and mining exploration activities. Since being established, its functions have extended to compliance and enforcement activities in relation to the Mining Act 1992, with a key focus on mine rehabilitation.
Preventing entanglement - Jumbo drilling rigs
The Resources Regulator is dedicated to preventing incidents and injuries involving rotating or moving parts of drilling machinery, especially development jumbos, at NSW mine sites. This video has been created to demonstrate safe procedures to prevent entanglement in NSW mines.
