TIMES GONE BY - by jason blackman
hi i spend a lot of time making these small films of when the days were a lot different. most of the photos are from old books or old post cards and photos i have. i love doing this to show you how life was way back then. some people can not buy books or find things to do with local history so this is why i have done this for all of you.
i do not do this to make money in any way, it is just for free so i do hope you all like the small films i do as it takes a long time to do.
many thanks jason.

My mum lived in Battersea a hundred years ago.
Great video. Shocked at the way some areas have gone down hill. Now living in NZ for the past 30+ years, these areas were not like that when I lived in Oxford.
Lovely song who.singing please
Rudmans fishmonger putney high St Love to.have picture
The fire engine was remade by the MoD Firefighter in RAF Halton, the aircraft in Halton was a army training in 1911 in the estate this ground is next to RAF Police section
Lovely video of much happier times. I've lived in Aylesbury since 2006. We have evidently lost so much. But you only miss things once they are gone. As with many towns, we now are a segregated community with conflicting aspirations. I don't believe we will ever again have a strong sense of community.
Hi my dad worked at the vineyard garage on ricmond hill do you have any old photos of this he would be SO happy if any found
I know Shillington St very well I was born in Wayford in 56 My sister born 49 Remember those prefabs very well
A lot of 'Oxford' has been cleared away since the mid-'60s when I arrived there. One "casualty" was the St. Ebbes area, classed as a 'slum' (which it wasn't) and erased that it could be lucratively 'redeveloped'. Many of the stores, big and small, have bitten the dust.
Old love old photos and especially railway photos, i find it sad than many lines that were so well engineered by Victorians were destroyed especially during the beeching era.
I was a lighterman, and a stevedore before it all closed down, the best of times for me .
It breaks my heart to see these images and compare them to what we have today... Mass, unwarranted, unwanted, and unjustifiable immigration has all but destroyed the fabric of society as we knew it.....
Everything looks so clean and uncluttered. I love old photos. Thank you for posting this 😊
My Grannys people here (Merton and Morden) back to the 18th century when all rural villages.Last of her family still there to 2000 ish.
Bravo Jason. Beautiful.
very poor photos, not your fault, just hard to find good photos.
What a lovely time that was, everthing looks at its best with no cars to speak of and the houses looking really nice and the roads are clean, what a time to live then.
The Queens Arms Oxford photo. Wow I can say I had a pint 🍺 of best bitter there in the early 70s. Don’t think it exists today
Made me cry. How beautiful was our London once.😢😢😢
@Baskerville22 I just wonder why they want to destroy everything in this country and yours. What is their motive. It's said people look back at the past with rose tinted glasses. But I think yes we have gained much but also lost many things.
Save me a space in your time machine will you
Your choice of accompanying music is superb
Stunningly real photos . I can’t help but wonder if I’m related to anyone featured 🥰
thank you so much - a lot of the town still recognisable.
boring
British culture---long gone. Thankyou for the video.
Love your work but your panning is to short, what's the hurry?
All domestic architecture should have stopped at the design of Edwardian.
I queued up in market sqare to pay on night to see Quuen... ANDY AND i were the last 2 ticketless to get in... what a night!
What is now the Trenchard Museum is shown at 7:16, with the parade ground there but no 3 storey barracks blocks yet built.
London before it was ruined by mass migration will always be one of the saddest realities of modern age.
Our wonderful country when the religion was mainly Christianity and English was our main language.LOVELY PICTURE MONTAGE. MANY THANKS 😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you . This brought back happy memories from the 1960s when I had a girlfriend who lived just off Rose Hill. Greetings from an ex-pat living in the Philippines❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Jason thanks for sharing these lovely scenes from a gone by era have you any of the shops in Sheen near Waitroise in the sixties? Great music by the way
Great picture of days gone by. Just wondered where exactly this bridge is. Born and bred Tring but my mother and father moved out of the area in the seventies. Loved those times very much so many happy memories
Nothing like a double decker tram
Thanks for sharing
thankyou....so many memories!
Seems a much better time
Born and bred in Morden and Sutton (now in Devon) and what memories, especially seeing again the beautiful (demolished) Angel Bridge (over the Angel Hill road, Rosehill to Sutton). Recognised many of the buildings in these photos. Great, thank you.
They’re going to knock the angel down as well as the black water inn all those years ago best pub going it was
Wonderful memories. Pity the streets weren't named. I am sure I saw my old cottage in Frogmore Street but can't be sure.
It is oh so different now . Such a shame .😢
Thank you for these pictures. My family lived in and around High Wycombe for many generations. I grew up there and remember sailing boats on the pool on the edge of the Rye recreation ground. I loved going to the playground with the large slide and the plank swing. Those days you could really hurt yourself if you did not respect the equipment. Great times.
This is really great Jason - by any chance do you have anything specific to West Norwood, Gipsy Hill, Tulse Hill?
Never forget what they took from you and what they replaced it with.
Wtf anyone can do this
Yes, anyone can do this, but it's the intentions that go into making the video, the music and all the comments that brought people together here, this here is old magic brought to life through the memories of its old past. It's wonderful to watch and see history come to life. ❤
video not naming any streets
Born in Aylesbury 1976, a lot of my family still live there, I was trying to see if my Nan Marjorie Hart RIP was in any of them 😢 or any of my Abrahams cousins were there, anyway an absolutely amazing video, thank you 🥹
Aylesbury Carnival was a great day.
