Pro tip -those are heat welded tabs you broke when you took the back cover off, not just clips as well. far better to remove the back cover with the plastic housing bezel from the front. you leave the bezel attached to the back cover that way you don't break the heat welded tabs off.

You forgot to first shut off the gas feed. You don't want to tilt a lawnmower on its side without closing that valve. And any work done on a lawnmower should first disconnect the spark plug. Doesn't really apply for this job but just general good practice.

Hi Joey thanks for the video. When my father retired in 1977 he splurged on a Honda mower. Now 47 years later I am still using this mower. It is cetrainly bullet proof. It has required no serious overhaull just servicing. Hopefully it will make 50 years of service in 2027.

Just want to say thanks for this video series Joe. I'm restoring one of these from top to bottom for my brother-in-law (paint job and all!) and have had the thing apart for a few weeks now. Time to put it back together and remember where every little nut and bolt goes. The parts diagrams on the Honda site here in Perth are really good but seeing you doing a job like this on video is immensely helpful for jogging my memory and seeing how this mower fits together. I've looked all over CZcams but your series of vids is the only one that actually has the exact model I'm working on. Just the basic push mower. Very grateful for your time and the effort you put into this. Also watched your quick restoration after the flood. Sweet! That's the reason I'm doing this project. Changing an old Badu-Speck variable speed after 8 years, running 4X2 hours per day at 1900. Does save electricity compared to a 1.1/2 hp single speed, but it will take 3-4 years to get even. You do need a robot, to clean the pool (Dolphin TCX 9 years still running, expect $100 a year maintenance, motor $500-8 years, power supply $300- 6 years, acces.$150 - 8 years.)

Asking as I would like to install 70mm down lights under my eaves and have been told that replacing them could be a pain if I cant get my forearm through the hole.
