@@wheystedmusic Not a problem (sorry, I wrote this late as heck In the UK). I think Dubstep is great for drawing in crowds, and that might be kind of the W or comeback with dubstep, but even still it could be argued that Alot of the big artists are kind of lifeless. It is a taste at the end of the day but there's a reason why I think Dubstep became competitive again when Skrillex came back in late 2022. Just what I observed. Dubstep to stand out needs to be different, instead of as loud and angry as humanly possible.

@@wheystedmusic hey man I'm having an issue with it loading the 2 files for the swiss army plugin for the reference track. i have em downloaded just not sure what folder to put them in. the template still loads it just says its missing those 2 files

@@neonsense_edm sometimes it won’t load. You don’t technically need save the Swiss army meter in a folder. If it’s in your downloads you can drag it straight into the daw and it will load the plugin (then just hit save on the icon on top). If for some reason you can get the plugin to load, you can download a free meter plugin called loudness meter. Which will also read short term LUFS

@@wheystedmusic okay great thanks. only other issue im having is that when I have serum loaded, the level meters are moving when im pressing the keys on my midi keyboard, but no sound is coming out. if i turn up the reverb send on the track that is the only way im able to get sound, not sure whats going on with that. or if i change the output to master, i can hear it. when i insert a midi clip on that serum track , its like faded and kinda grayed out. its not white like the normal midi clip.

You have to realize in this example that is strictly streaming revenue. Not including ticket sales, sponsorships, and merchandise. I think the number could easily be 300k+ yearly revenue.

You’re not accounting for his bookings, some big artists like Excision for example can fetch 250k from just a single booking so Subtronics wouldn’t be terribly off from that. It was revealed in court docs recently that Snails was making like 3 million a year off bookings alone before that person defamed him…. Trust me, these guys ain’t broke!! lol

Hey! Hope you been well! Regarding what I was saying about income for 72k. He’s making that as a 1099. So if you factor in all the expenses that come into promotion, artwork, travel, materials, labor of paying his employees that run the label. Just based on his streaming alone (not his shows). Then it’s probably even below the avg income that people make. That’s why I worded it like that. Maybe I didn’t clarify my internal thoughts well enough in the video. And I apologize if it came off that way.

@@wheystedmusic Ahhh, that's true, though I will say that 90% of that is also a tax write off as a business expense so not totally sure how that breaks out and we won't know unless we get to ask him. Thanks for clarifying. Also, pretty sure that the label he owns is an LLC meaning it has separate taxes and accounts for things like paying his staff that aren't his personal finances, and as label head he makes passive income from every signed track and without seeing a bunch of contracts we don't know the average rate they take and give and that's a big part of why many acts start vanity labels once they have the money to, it's a way to increase your royalty revenue, sign your friends, own your tracks and name and likeness again, and also a bit of a tax shell.

I’m assuming it depends on what you are passionate about. I bet a member of the 5 person band would hate to be in control of just being a producer, dj, and having all the responsibility for growth and success. Tl:dr each their own 🙂

Do you think music is my primary income lmao?? Bringing knowledge/news about the scene isn’t crying. It’s informing. So Artist know what to expect when they get into this. God forbid the top artist in our scene can make a living off of supplying literally millions of people with enjoyment (music) which Spotify is directly profiting from.

You would have to change the conversions to your currency and see what the payout is by Spotify to your country. US + a few other countries have higher payouts. So it’s probably lower in Brazil (but I’m not sure what it would be) Thanks for watching!

as a person that did A/R it's really not genre of an issue. if you can produce music and I mean roughly can make a type beat, make a full arranged track, pop, bass, house etc. it's not the genre it's about how you can fit in with a label. there are so many jobs in music, everyone wnats to be an artists and those are the ones that really suck with business (imagine ur rnb artist you signed your rights for 3 years for 20k ) the label is gonna want their money back but what did you get from it? artistry can be put into a box but you need a good manager 80% of the time to market it (i knew ice spice b4 she was popping and dropped ephoric) but if youre trying to do your own thing. Just make it and see what happens. alot of trends come and go and music is a lanuage at the end of the day but u are the product and who you reach has more effect than your tunes unless you have a track like Lanuage. bass music producers should be working with beat makers and sound libariy people it's such a huge open markte it's nuts. think about it like this, most people who get placements with rappers don't even know how to use Serum let alone their daw they just make beats and send to a/r and hope a plcemnet. best of luck.

@@NOLINK74 I agree alot on what you said and feel like we're kinda saying the same thing but I meant in dubstep there is kind of a cap in how much money to be maid. I see alot of dubstep label even fail here. Many of the big artist on the flyers in the dubstep scene have still regular jobs, when I know rap and pop artist and producers living well . Some things like you said start to make money from youtube, patron, or beat sound packs ...ect but I do know tons of artist in the mainstream industry and heck even one kids. I know one in genral made 15k from a Megan The Stallion beat at the age of 13 years old. I work with alot of multi platinum producers and man it just seems easier if your going to be dubstep artist try to also be like you said a beat maker for others as well. And I love that, I just also what it to be my trackas well. I guess the best way to say is dont put your art in a box and limit your artistic capabilities because someone made you feel like you only want to be one genre . Half my homies out here living good and the other half struggling. I want everyone to eat cause I know we all can 🔥💪🏾

On a positive note, dubstep is growing year over year. (Besides covid years but that’s an analytical anomaly.) idk how but riddim is growing like a wild fire right now. Which I’ll probably make a video on. All I know is, the more edm exposure we get as a community the more streaming opportunities will come. But that’s not in the near future. So be diverse and make what you want ❤️
