I read some literature that says that when you set the regeneration day to let's say 2days. It implies that when there is no water flow for 2days then back washing will occur at the set time. Is it so or does it mean regeneration will happen twice or on the second day? Kindly assist
during regen son thought something was wrong and put water into bypass . Will that cause a problem with unit

Great video - but seems to be missing one step. I have the exact same Clack unit -- mine was set by installer to regen *either* after 14 days, or 1000 gallons used -- whichever comes first. Your video indicates how I could change from 14 days, but doesn't indicate how to change the gallons used threshold. Any hints?
How do I change my auto regeneration from every 1000 hours to every 500 hours?
New to water softener. Plumber explained nothing but add salt once a month. Instructions list doing a bunch of arrows after adding salt. Do you wait to add salt when display indicates salt low or how do I know if my unit prevents has the low salt option. So many questions and can’t seem to find any answers. Oh and change the UV filter and turn a bunch of valves before you do that. And here’s a tap to drain water. ☹️
I have a clack ws1 program with the 5 buttons. when i press the regen button the display shows as Pnd9 and the unit does not regenerate. What needs to be done to make it work, as it does not regenerate manually.

Easy & clear video. Question : When I go to check how much water I have left before regeneration, sometimes there is an asterisk (*) on the left side of the screen, turning. Can you tell me what it means ?
Thanks! Does the remaining capacity go down a few seconds after you notice the asterisk? Some of the proprietary backlight valves will let you know if water is being used
Our unit uses a tremendous amount of salt. Is there a way to set the unit to regenereate less often?
How can I tell how hard my water is?
Best way would be to pick up a HACH 3 hardness test kit. If you just want a cheap way to get an idea, the pool tabs work alright.

When should the salt be added? Before all of this or after the regeneration process?
Always have salt in the brine tank. Never mind anything else. No salt, no water softening.
@@luismelendez903when you say brine, should there be water in my salt reservoir? Should I see it or is the water very low? My salt is about 9” from the top of my 32” reservoir.
Water should be seen in the salt tank. Its mixes with the salt to create a brine. That brine is what goes into the tank. Dry salt will not do it. Also, if you have rust, use Rust Out in the brine tank too. It eliminates rust stains. Follow the instructions on the bottle of dry Rust Out powder. Should be a little brine. As long as there is brine, it will work. 1 bag of salt, (40 lbs.) should last a month. Yes, not a lot of water but water must be present. My tank usually has 1 bag of salt and a little water around the bottom of it. The Clack uses very little salt. I rebuilt my system. I will keep an eye out for you. If you need more help, let me know. I rebuilt my system. I can help. I had a plumber install it with very few beads inside the tank and 2 years later he wanted me to buy another system because "this system doesn't work with your water." 1,000 dollars more. I fired him. If you are using more than 1 40 pound bag of salt per month, there is a problem.

Thanks! If your valve has a meter, You should be able to turn the number of days override all the way down until it says "off" . Let me know if that works :)

Hi. What is best ppm ? I had soft water before but softener installed were set for 350 causing my water to get too hard , pH was low and they told me that they need to raise hardeness for Ph filter
