Black Hog Down 10 30 17
Decided to try out my new ATN XSight II 5x20Hd Day/Night Scope on my integrally suppressed 300 Blackout. I built this specifically for hog hunting at night. Went to sit the evening and play with the settings etc. and see how the night vision worked. Well I didn't get that far into my hunt when this nice eating size boar came slowly walking in. Yeah me fiddling with the buttons was me playing with different settings etc. while I watched him feed. After I had had enough I introduced him to a RIP 220 Gr. SubSonic round to the head. Nighty Night! I grilled the tenderloin Sat. and smoked one side of the ribs on Sun. Man oh man, It doesn't get any better than that. Yummy!

HOW TO BUILD A PIG PIPE

So after building 2 pig pipes and seeing some other ideas here I decided to redo the initial design I had implemented. What I have learned is you don't want to drill to many holes in your pipe. Your not wanting it to act like a French drain. lol O.K. so after I took it to the woods today where I hunt and set it up I had decided to sit the evening. I had deer all over me and none of them where e...

After building my first ever deer/hog feeder from a 55 gal. drum I of course had to then hang it. I had created a trail way back into the deep deep woods to a clearing I had found for this undertaking. And of course I didn't want any help because then they would want to hunt my new secret spot. So after enduring the 100 degree heat and several comical errors because of being hot & tired I got i...

I was given a 55 gallon drum and figured what the heck. I'm going to build a feeder. My first one. Something I had thought of doing especially after the pizza feeders we have on our farm have been destroyed by bears & squirrels. After all of the rain we had gotten from the tropical storm I along with quite a few others figured the conditions would have been way better than Memorial Day weekend at Hog Waller. Better but not as good as I have seen it before. Might have to wait a bit before I go back. Still nothing that remotely challenged the new tracks.

Memorial Day Weekend Hog Waller 2016. Searching for mud! It was so dry and dusty it was disgusting. Found some mud but nothing that even came close to challenging the new tracks on the Argo. • @silenceofthehams6902
      @silenceofthehams6902 Před 4 lety

      It was the belt on the clutch. I have since up graded it to the HD belt which has eliminated that. As well as completely red the brake system etc. The guy I bought it from didn't know anything about skid type steer vehicles and had put the wrong DOT # brake fluid in and screwed up the calipers causing braking issues. It's an 2006 Avenger. I have upgraded all of it to an HD Avenger now. With the tracks I can literally run through anything with no problems. I have friends who have Can Am 1000's all hoped up who laugh at me because mine isn't fast. I have to laugh when I pass them and they are buried in a nasty mud hole. Yeah like how fast are you going to really go in the woods? Right? When I sell it I will buy another one!

    "I have confidence in the ARGO again"? If you lost it, or didn't have it, your unit had issues to begin with. It isn't that often they're hung up. Not that they can't, but not to where I've heard someone say that, + w/o tracks you're asking it to do what any machine can't do. Ive seen you in other videos w/tracks struggling, and remember hearing sounds I'm not used to hearing/seeing yours struggle. It not common and made me think somethings wrong even like at 6:30...somethings not right. Are the tracks on? If not...why not? They're made for situations just like this and it makes it MUCH easier on your unit.

    • @silenceofthehams6902
      @silenceofthehams6902 Před 5 lety

      Yeah I had bought it off a guy in South Carolina who didn't know how to work on them. He and his "mechanic" buddy had done some things that weren't correct. I had to go in and redo a lot of what they had done. Chains were stretched, belt was slipping because his son wouldn't operate it properly and he had glazed the belt. Brakes were an issue, hubs were leaking from lack of maintenance etc. etc. etc. I basically have gone thru the entire thing including having the transmission rebuilt. I'll defer to the above statement about the guys son. After I had upgraded the belt and I also upgraded the axels and bearings to HD it was night and day difference. I did all of that because I wanted to add tracks. And you can stick anything. Nothing is exempt from getting buried. The road we were on had been wallowed out by BIG TRUCKS with giant tires and the stretches I kept struggling thru was some nasty deep mud. NON of my friends would even ride thru it it was that bad. And there was nothing wrong with the way my machine was sounding. I went back and watched that part of the video. It sounds like that in Low gear. It has 2 gears. Low, High and reverse. It wasn't until I was at Hog Waller(much later) and buried it that I decided to order the Adair Pro Series Tracks for it. Yeah the Adair series tracks aren't cheap. Around $4200 a set. Since then I haven't even come close to getting stuck. And adding tracks will put a greater strain on a machine than not having tracks. Hence the reason I upgraded all of my bearings and axels to Heavy Duty. Is it necessary to upgrade to HD to run tracks? No! Will your machine handle nasty nasty thick mud better if you do? YES! Simple physics actually! The thing your not considering is the weight of the tracks that you are adding to the vehicle and then to run them thru mud which equates to more weight and resistance. And yes your machine will run slower with tracks on it. But It is so worth it. I can go out in the 6 acre big pit where the big trucks race and not get stuck with tracks on. I can literally drive around those who are buried and and stop and start and not get stuck. Having tracks on a vehicle doesn't mean your going to be blazing trails at regular speed all the time. You will encounter nasty nasty mud that no one in there right mind will even attempt to drive thru but someone with tracks. Yeah you will be slowed down but you will as we say walk it right thru it. Driving an Argo takes learning and how to drive it properly. The above video I hadn't had my Argo that long and was still in a learning curve. It's not like a 4 wheeler or any side x side. It operates completely different in the steering and maneuvering. Especially in nasty mud etc. Sounds like you should get one and see for yourself.

Yeah sorry about that. And yes there was a smaller feeder with a rope that got in the editing that was out of sequence as well. Looks like I need to redo this one? lol Hey the feeder STILL is working better than any store bought that I have ever used. It has survived 2 hurricanes and umpteen tropical storms etc. This area I put this feeder back in has so much standing water STILL from Irma and then the torrential rains we got around Thanksgiving that I am going to have to abandon the spot. It's pretty bad when you have a Kingfisher land on a branch over looking the flooded area and then have Mallards and wood ducks land as well. lol. But that's hunting in Fla. Sorry about the mis editing! I do use a 2 speed boat winch for raising and lowering the feeder.
