This movie was basically a WW2 Expendables. Mass bad guy kills and no good guy deaths except for some unnamed backups(who fall prey to the old Black Guy Always Git Kilt trope). Ironically, in real history, the mission went even smoother and with less opposition. The huge party the undercover unit threw for the germans, italians and spanish in the port suceeded in getting them all so drunk, they didn't notice the ships were gone until it was too late!
That's actually crazy, I didn't think they'd have more plot armor in real life than the movie ☠
@@Tweedle. Unfortunately, their real life plot armor didn't last. March-Phillips(Cavill)was killed September '42, on a raid on the french coast along with 2 others. The 8 other men on the team were captured. Among them was Hayes(Hero Fiennes-Tiffin)who was executed a year later, Sep. 1943. Appleyard(Pettyfer)disappeared on an operation in Sicily July 1943. Anders Lassen (Ritchson)died in combat in Northern Italy on April 9, 1945. A month before Germany surrendered. Its probable that he received the Victoria Cross because it being posthumous (after death), overcame the political/publicity barriers of his foreign nationality and savage reputation. Unlike fellow SAS legend Blair 'Paddy' Mayne, co-founder and leader of the 1st SAS regiment from January 1943 to the end of the war. Mayne, like Lassen, won every medal possible but his ungentlemanly drunken brawling off duty and beating up a superior officer, prevented the higher ranks from awarding him the Victoria Cross (despite Field Marshall Montgomery WW2 recommendation and King George VI's post war support). Apparently, if Mayne been heroically killed during the war like Lassen, and not ten years later in a car accident, he would have got it.

For being based on a real life scenario it never reached its potential, the Inglorious Bastards was kinda like a benchmark for this. Love guys films, this seemed like a departure from his normal style.

@@Tweedle. Read the script on that yesterday, the dialogue is perfect. It's the first time I actually appreciated Hugh Grant in a role. Watched the Ministry again last night and enjoyed it more the second time, the smaller details become more evident. He seems like a really fun director to work with.

Podcast is not that bad, and I liked his bond with Ray. Phoebe’s character wasn’t likeable, and Slimer and Walter Peck didn’t get much screetime. Also yeah, Melody (the ghost girl) sucks. Every scene she’s in is painful, and whatever they were trying to do with her and Phoebe didn’t work in the slightest. That being said, I still did enjoy the film more or less. Ray was my favourite character, the new villain was interesting and they had some decent ideas that got a bit lost in the shuffle.

I like how the Demon God forces a ghost girl into befriending a minor into a potential relationship/friendship on the hopes the underage girl kills herself/temporally leaves her body at the off chance of a kiss/hug/handshake in order for the Demon God to control her body and make her speak an ancient language thousands of years old. No plot holes in this at all...
i just saw Frozen Empire. i thought it was pretty good. No it's not as good as the first 2 GBs. But it's way better than GB'16 & i'd say it's just as good as Afterlife.

Having seen the movie today i do disagree with this review though I understand WHY one could see it as bad. This movie was a solid movie in my opinion. The supposed ghost lesbian romance thing I think is because we've become so used to having it forced down our throats that we look for it. I don't think it was a lesbian thing however. I think it was more a kid who feels like no one understands them finally making what they consider a friend. Plus it was also brought up that both She and one of the originals both wanted to know what it was like to be a ghost. Plus I think this, as a 2nd movie introducing the new cast, is good to have a movie showing their angsty years where things aren't going great. The first movie really tried to show that with wolfhards character and now its phoebes turn. Again this is just my opinion. I do think its a solid movie and will happily see a third installment as I like where they are trying to go even if they have a few painful steps getting there.
I can definitely see your point and I'm glad you liked it! Like I said I didn't think it was a terrible movie, it was nowhere near as bad as something like Madame Web, it just felt like they had too high expectations of what they could do in a 2 hour runtime in my opinion. Thanks for your input! 😁

agree with the whole video . i had hopes after the last one , and this one took care of destroying what it had manage to achieve. i watched completely , tried my best to keep an open mind despite so many eye rolling moments ... the movie was uninteresting , and inferior to "afterlife" . i guess afterlife was a modern accident.
