I spent three months in Australia (Caloundra, QLD) after high school in the summer of 1991, and I just needed to sign to get citizenship, but I couldn't do it. I was in tears watching the news from Croatia, and that's why I came back. As for the drone - awesome choice! Many people, including myself, have nothing but great things to say about that drone. Props to you for putting it together yourself - I'd love to do that too, but I just don't have the know-how or time to dive into it all... Thanks a ton for your kind comment! @@Wild__FPV that’s crazy you lived in Australia. I’m not from Melbourne, I live in Wollongong just south of Sydney. I’m hoping to travel to Croatia next year with my family. And who knows, we might even stay.

Yeah, that's definitely good range. You need to gradually push it to gain more experience and confidence, and to see how your gear holds up. Helical antennas are awesome; you might get even more range with them. But take it easy, man! Good luck up there!

What state do you live in? I find it hard to believe there isn't a single nice spot near you... :(

@@Wild__FPVmaybe it's just because I'm just used to the landscape and it just looks boring to me and someone else might find it interesting, I'm in Wisconsin, Just a suburb of the capitol Madison, pretty much corn fields and trees around me no real valleys or larger hills, can't wait to get back out west this summer though!

@@Wild__FPV yeah the double helical are awesome, they give you almost as much gain as a 6 turn but with a wider cone. Yeah, my last flight of a little over 4km was limited by the fact that I didn't want to go over the interstate and the over water with a side wind of 15-20 mph, so that's far enough for now, but yeah each time I go out further I'm more confident going the 2-3 km seem easy, LoL

Well, dang... I was checking out Google Earth, and man, you don't have any mountains within a thousand miles until you hit the Rockies. That's quite a haul! I'm in the same boat here, where nothing exciting to film is nearby, but I've got the Slovenian Alps just 200 miles away, and some beautiful mountains within 250 miles in my own state. Yeah, heading out west for the holidays sounds like it could land you some awesome spots; seems like everything west of the Rockies is just packed with mountains! Oh yeah, definitely, haha! But here's something I didn't mention in the video: the drone was flying all over the place, so I had to turn towards it to keep the signal strong. As I turned, I nearly tripped over a rock. That's when I realized exactly what you're saying now...

Thanks, bro! I usually keep the throttle at around 20-30% to save on battery. It makes for a smoother flying experience - longer flights, less stress, and it lets me take in the scenery more while I'm in the air.

It's not often you find yourself at the base of a mountain with solid signal reception all the way through... I've noticed it works better when you're lower down because as the drone climbs higher, the signal tends to get stronger...

So, you’re into Li-Ion too? :) Honestly, the only advantage I see is that they charge quickly, but I don’t notice any difference in performance! :) Yeah, proximity flying is such an adrenaline rush... @@Wild__FPV for sure! And yeah this last pack a built I used Molicel p45b cells which have a rating of 45A continuous draw. I built the pack as a 9000mah 6S2P so 90A continuous which lets me fly it almost like a lipo! So yeah big fan of Li-ion! And no worries man, I’m starting to check out your videos, awesome content. Yes, it's a bit challenging to change your mindset, so you need to be extra cautious during the first few flights. Also, the need for constantly adjusting settings in Betaflight (battery warning).

Thanks, bro! Regarding battery charging; the fuse for the car lighter is 20 A, so I believe it's possible to charge one battery at 2C (16 A), or two at 1C (16 A). @@Wild__FPV If your fuse is 16A, it means 12x16=192W. I would check the manual of your car plug & the description of your cable. Charger is no problem or limitation and can do this easy ;-)

All I have is the nominal current rating for that fuse, unfortunately, I don't have any other details. Anyway, if I go with 2C (16A), the worst that can happen is the fuse might blow... :D

Good question. I chose ELRS primarily due to the 868 MHz frequency, which provides better stability over longer distances and respectable penetration capabilities. Additionally, unlike the DJI controller, ELRS allows for the selection of the packet rate: I opted for 100 Hz. While this setting results in higher latency, it supports a greater range. Lower latencies (e.g., 500 or 1000 Hz) offer better responsiveness but do not support long-range capabilities. However, I must emphasize that a 100 Hz packet rate is sufficient for my needs; I do not notice any delay in my commands. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask, and I will be happy to assist.

Yes, I may have made it a bit complicated, sorry, I got too deep into the story when I wrote it. 😀In other words: I didn't pay attention to the most optimal position of the antenna (which is on the left side of the drone) in relation to the radio transmitter because I wanted to take a shot of the mountain, regardless of the possibility of losing the radio signal
