Can you export pacthes and patterns from volca fm 2 tp PC?
@3:02 I explained: for exporting patches you need to send sysex. Unfortunately Volca can't do...unless they will update the firmware in some way. You can do the trick to create the sound on DEXED (is free webbased app) and afterwards copy to the Volca...I don't think you're going to make a new preset scrolling the menus on the Volce, don't you? Exporting patterns instead maybe doable, when synched to your sequencer on the PC, push play on Volca and Rec on the sequence. Please let me know if I'm not clear
@@iamlate5964thanks for the detailed explanation
Hey! Can i use it to connect one guitar and one mic to the duo and then connect duo to the phone for lnstagram live streaming? Pls let me know. Thanks in advance
I've nover done a live streaming with IG but I suppose you should be able with no issue. Just make sure that the software you're going to use, will allow you to have two mono (so called "dual mono") input and set the balance to the centre. No stereo input!
Nice comparison! Which would you take on a deserted island for a year?
Mmmmh, good question, probably none of these would be enough to make me feel happier on a desert island. The question is more about what's your reason to buy them?
@@soundandvisionstudio8459 You still have to choose man! What are you going to do, just sit on the beach doing nothing?
@@mattcero1 For what I'm playing/writing in this moment, the FM2 :P
@@soundandvisionstudio8459 I knew I'd get it out of ya! Thank you.
Why not volca keys?
I thought about it for a while, but besides I read somewhere that is not a real analogue (not sure though), it has a very limited memory for preset and no midi output. Might be useful if you are more in to live performance
youre awesome
Excuse me sir why has it been 7 months since you posted a video? Not acceptable
Yeah, I know and I'm very sad for this, but I'm too busy at the moment. I hope to get back soon. Thanx for your support Gage
Why does zoom has this hiss? I don't remember this on zoom H1
Sorry for my late reply 🤣 It's probably due to the fact that the audio source was very weak. And that was to prove how noisy those preamps are!
Crazy accent.
I take it as a compliment
Great overview, Daniele! Thank you
Thank you Vitaly Pushkar
Mhhhhh.... Gouda cheese in my Rack... ❤️ This could actually be a thing. 🤔
Yeah, it's good, isn't it?
still hesitating between Pro Duo I/O and Pro I/O….
Hi, if you’re sure 100% that you’re never going to record stereo source (a keyboard/synth, stereo mic configuration…) go for the non-Duo. It’s smaller and you’ll save 1/3 of the cost. Thanx for watching anyway aLx 🙏
hahahahah! you know - ITALY! I love the Italians
Sorry for my late reply. As usual. Thank a lot
i find the song he did great own interesting sound with these both
Thank you Lee
Volca fm wins clearly, it is full on DX7 in a small box. However , I don't know why would you compare these two - sound engines are 100% different, they do not overlap in a single feature, except for the form factor.
Hi Earlsfield, the chioce between analog and digital has always been a bit dispute between musician and I found intetesrting the comparison, besides the form factor, because of the price. The form factor it's very import nowadays that musician cannot afford nothing bigger than a room. The price is the factor that makes people say:"I don't know if I want a mono analog or a poly digital, let's try these two!"...or maybe it's pointless and you're right. I'll learn something even from you. Thanx a lot.
@@iamlate5964 It was not a blind critique - I just thought you could ve pitted two virtual analogue synths with a similar form factor and price against each other. Learning FM is hard thing to do, I know this well - one of my first synths wadDX7 and i had no manual or anything, had no idea what i was doing - it was 1996 :) Point being, there are many entry level synths with that form factor working on analog or virtual analog engine. for example, I would try volca bass or keys vs uno.
Good vid. Subbed
Thanx Nathaniel, I hope you found it interesting.
Great value fm synth. Bought one, the motion sequencer is great, and the chorus & reverb are great sounding too. You can record these levels into the sequencer too. Quirky but fun fm synth with 6 voices.
You’ve got the point. It’s small and for the price is a big deal!
🤩🤩👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanx Synth EBO
For the price, Volca FM 2 is a good value. Might pick one up despite having a Reface DX, DEXed, and OP-4x on a MPC One and Live II. Thanks for the review.
Thax for watching Matthew. I’m also interested in the MPC live: as it’s the only instrument with 2 midi output at that price, any idea if it can play a separate track/channel for each midi output, please?
@@iamlate5964 You can send Midi data to 16 different channels using the in,out thru like the old days.
Dexed is a great synthesizer but a poor patch editor. Try Edisyn, which handles libraries reasonably. Note -- and this is important -- that the Volca FM does not implement DX7 sysex properly: it repurposes the checksum byte to add more features: this largely breaks most sysex uploading unless you have a patch editor (like Edisyn and I imagine Synthmata) which can be set to override it.
Hi Sean, actually Synthmata transimits sysex very well but it cannot deal DX7 cartridge (bank of programs). Any idea if Edisyn is capable to load bank instead of single program? Thanx a lot for watching and for the advise. You smash 👍
It's a pleasure to see the flag of my country as the logo of your channel. Great review of Volca FM2, keep it going! //P.S. I'm thinking of getting one of the hardware FM-synths of the 80's (DX7 or at least TX81Z)
Hi Оцифрована, I hope you and the whole your country may find peace as soon as possible. Your pain is main.
If you can find a DX7, a TX or a DX200 (have a look if you don't know this interesting one) in a good condition, I strongly suggest to take: besides the appeal and the sound, they are all made in Japan and good investiment!
@@iamlate5964 Thank you for your support
Dead 600 000 of ppl happy for what? Why you don't go to fight ?
Can it be bus powered ?
Hi Tom, theoretically can be USB powered, but there's not spec from the manifacturer about the power (amp) needed. For providing 48v phantom, 2XAA battery or a power supply 9VDC - 500mA is mandatory
Well done, sir. 😎👍🏼👍🏼
Should the cable apply midi-to-usb?
Hi dear, not very clear what you're asking: it has a midi in/out and the midi signal pass through the USB cable that the interface use for connecting to the computer (or mobile). In your DAW it will be detected as a iRig midi in/out. Please let me know if I'm not clear. Thanx for watching!
@@iamlate5964 I mean the type of USB plugged into the unit is not common. No replacement in Indonesia. Other than that, the unit is great - like the way you review it.

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaank you John!
I'm having a huge issue and can't find the answer. I just bought one of these and plugged in my Sure SM7B direct into the iRig and went to the iPhone 12 pro video to shoot it and it's only capturing one side. As in, I can only hear the audio in one headphone coming out of the iPhone direct to my air pods. I then thought the input may be damaged, switched to the second and of course now, the sounds is only coming out of the other ear. I've tried changing the sound setting on the ipHone camera to mono and stereo and neither work. Still goes to one side only. And I cannot find ANY information online about how to fix this. It can't be possible that I need to record with 2 mics to get the both sides of the audio! HELP!
Hi Lucas, what software are you using for recording? Is the camera app?
@@iamlate5964 yes. Nothing else.
@@WhenItCliks Have you had a look in to the iPhone camera setting instead of the sound settings? When you said that you could "only hear one headphone coming out", were you talking about the direct monitoring or the recording as well?
@@iamlate5964 I have. Nothing changes. And no, the direct monitoring is coming in on both sides. I was told by someone else that apparently the iPhone itself is the limitation and the camera app doesn't allow for the signal to come in on both sides so it seems I may have to purchase another app to do this, which is what I was trying to avoid but it seems I have no choice. I feel like this is a huge flaw in the iphone and I think iRig should tell people this before the purchase. This is obviously a huge issue for non techy people like me trying to just find the simplest solution and the simplest solution isn't even accessible. But that's that! Thanks for your help!
@@WhenItCliks I'm investigating a bit, but the quickest solution I can give you is: if you download Mpeg Streamclip to your windows/mac, it's free, you can convert your video from one channel to dual-mono. It should be quite fast. Let me know
