Portal (Xbox 360 Orange-Box) uncut gameplay but it was recorded onto VHS.
I have been meaning to upload this for a while, I finalised (deinterlace+upsacle to 720p for 50fps) the video file back in april and it had been sitting on the laptop harddrive since. I guess I should upload it before the drive dies then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The video was 4.2GB (post-virtualdub) in size and took ages to clean up in virtualdub (as you can expect with a mere core 2 duo)
The tape seems to abruptly stop in a few places. One time was due to me getting stuck, stopping the recording, brainstorming wtf the solution is and resuming once I figured it out. Another was due to me being called for dinner and another was caused by me dying at the final boss. I didn't want to record the whole process again as the clock was ticking in how much tape was left (or as I thought even though I recorded in LP speed and this is a 240 tape). I basically stopped the recording, got to where I was roughly before I died then resumed the recording.
Other mini drop outs happen, mainly near the start. For some time this was the only tape I had so it was recorded onto a lot, causing it to basically start to wear out. Plus there was some physical damage near the start of the tape, not caused by me I'll have you know.

Very strange to see a comparatively modern game like Portal on VHS. What VCR did you use for this? For you to be able to record in LP, it must have been fairly old (especially considering the lack of Hi-Fi audio).
@@VideoGameSmash12 it was a Matsui VP 9608, 4-head VCR, it did record Hi-fi but I opted for linear instead considering the condition of the tape Idk/can't remember the date code but I reckon somewhere between the mid and late 90s
May I add that the Yamaha keyb is basically XG Lite based so it feels more natural, compare it to the older MU series MIDI modules with full XG
Correction: The soundfont for Moto G8 Power Lite is *not* exclusive to that phone, it is just an Android soundfont.
No duh there, I recorded it with my phone and that's the same result. Guess it's a Linux/Android thing Also did a similar one with the Roland Virtual Soundcanvas years back too.
indeed, all android devices have the same soundfont (left unchanged ever since it's implementation in the OS). I just used my phone name since it was what I had at the time and also because of potential audio quirks with the headphone jack or file manager (such as being really quiet, my current phone, Motorola Moto G13, the default file manager plays midi's really loud (sometimes clipping causing major distortion))

this is actually such a neat idea. it feels lo uncanny,, i dont know how to describe it. i'm curious how other games would feel with this real vhs effect-
I actually did record myself playing old games like this recently. Here's a rundown of what each game was like. The vibrant and colorful art style of Plants vs. Zombies keeps the picture surprisingly saturated and colorful even when recording in EP mode. Bejeweled 2 was a bit mid but still very colorful. Minecraft looks faded and almost eerie (especially in singleplayer), though this could just be the high gamma level screwing up the colors. Portal 2 was pretty fitting, especially during the later parts of the game.

The Yamaha PSR-E323 sounded really lively
It's a based of "Orion VH-2898 Hi-Fi" (Same of My VCR set at: Lifetec LT8910) - pretty good, but "Middle-East SECAM" aren't be supported compare to Other Popular Mono Video Cassette Players as "N300E" and "N500E" [Good Audio quality]

Y'know, Soundblaster 16 (Yamaha YMF262), the main instrument sounds like Doom.
Doom also used midi files for its main soundtrack. For many People, the soundblaster was the card installed on their computer back then and doom used the soundblasters built-in midi support for its soundtrack if it was selected as the audio device. To be more specific, it just sent midi commands to whatever device was selected. In windows, that would be handled by the os and then sent to the soundblaster. Hence why to you, this will sound like the instruments used in the doom soundtrack when in reality it's just the patch bank windows uses to interface with soundblasters midi mode.
This sounds like a remix that would be made in the 2000s.

A lot of those intros were really good. I wish at least the top 5 entries would be included in Furnace. Deflemask also has more than one intro tune after all. By the way, do you know why does entry number 3 sounds like the winning entry, despite being written by different authors?
In the contest you could design the sound around the intro visuals and time everything It was optional, of course, but it would make it more appealing overall There was gonna be a chance that two authors would have the same general idea and then branch out from that in their own way I personally like how entry 3 came out more than the winning entry but it's the majority's word over mine. It's still good either way.
