    How the hell tall are you? I have one of those bikes, I'm considered exceptionally tall, I can see over the windshield easily even i slouch a little, like I have to make a concerted effort to have bad posture to not see over it... your camera looks to be about eye height, and it looks like you'd be incapable of not having turbulence right in your eye holes... Just how tall are you anyway?

      super late reply .. 6feet ... the windshield is not the original ...its a Clearview.. maybe that's the difference? also this windshield has a little lip at the end that deflects the air over your head fairly well.

    I have one of these. Mine's an '88 KZ1000-P. You have an interesting way of mounting it. I have fairly short legs and tend to round house kick my leg over the radio box and then seat. How's your pursuit lights? Are they hooked up? If so, do you have them hooked up to the proper switch, and if so, does your pursuit light come on? I ask because I use mine for security guard work, and I need to get my lights all hooked up properly. Right now I have an array of after market switches glued onto the dashboard on the fairing.

    • @KFuzz001
      @KFuzz001 Před 5 lety

      LOL If by interesting you mean non-standard i can only say i'm an 'amateur' at this bike. I know leo's are taught to get on the bike via the high side but I don't like how that feels. I do have the blue & red pursuit lights (old Whelen strobes) mounted on the front but they are not hooked -up. I have newer clear lens led pursuit lights (with white leds) as well and those I actually set to constant on and used them like super bright high beams. They were hooked up to the proper switches. I also have the Whelen strobe amplifier box in the rear that they hook up to .. the new leds lights dont need that and draw a LOT less power. The newer pursuit lights are programmed when you install them so you can sync them together or leave them independent. I've installed or reinstalled all the lights and its not hard .. just a pain to work in the cavity of the headlight for some wiring. When i first got the bike i had a new wiring harness installed so connecting the lights and switches was color-coded and easy with the schematics. But i like the look of the colored lenses better. When i don't feel like getting behind folks doing 5 under the speed limit (i'm sure you experience this to) , i have gray cups that cover them up. With the colored lenses I admit i'm a bit chicken to hook them up in case i get stopped (although its never happened and not sure that would matter). I actually have the blue Whelen pole light for the rear but haven't installed it yet. I plan to though.

    • @BerryTheBnnuy
      @BerryTheBnnuy Před 5 lety

      @@KFuzz001 I can't figure out the wiring to the pursuit switch. All I know is it's green and white, but it's not hooked up to anything and I don't even know if mine is snipped at the controls or not. They did a real butcher job on it and I've since had to replace the fairing with one from California and it has all the stock wires intact but they split off into nonstandard colors of wires that are snipped. I'm so confused.

    Awesome bike and video! I'm lookin to pick up a 2005 myself. Have you taken passengers on it? If so, how does it handle? Have you had any problems with the bike in your time owning it?

    • @KFuzz001
      @KFuzz001 Před 5 lety

      i left the radio carrier in place behind my seat so the only passenger I could take was my nephew when he was young. I have seen pictures of these bikes where they've taken the carrier off and mounted a seat quite nicely. Handles great..really good for a bike of this size due to its high center of gravity ... it took a little getting used to sitting up that high but you can really whip it around at low speeds ... one thing my bike doesn't do well is highway above 75mph. The fairing on mine must be off to one side or something because i have to battle buffeting .. but other than that its super comfortable to ride. By trouble do you mean mechanical or police ? I haven't had any problems with the cops in Atlanta .. and i ride past a substation going to work. there are some of these bikes still around doing escorts for funerals , weddings and other events... so even though mine now has leo lights and always had the siren on it .. no one bothers me. (of course i don't use anything but the air horn when needed). Mechanically... its an older bike so the normal stuff .. after 8 years i replaced the tires once but didn't really need to . i have had issues with the carbs gumming up if not riden. .i'm working on an issue with the clutch sticking open .. i hope i've go the parts now that will solve that .. otherwise .. its been bulletproof .. built like a tank. i love it. although i have more in it than its worth, i'll never sell it. sorry for the wordiness and delay seeing your question. let me know if you have any other questions. i have lots of repair and parts info if you need it at some point. cheers! -doug

    For a moment I thought this might have been my old "movie bike" that I brought to Ohio when I retired a little over 20 years ago. I had everything possible on the bike removed and sent to the chrome shop. I was making a bunch of money working for the film industry in L.A. and could write it all off as a business expense. I sold the bike a few years ago to a locale buyer. No idea where it is now.

    In my case someone gutted the back of the mufflers out so its louder than it should be ... the small microphone plugged into the camera gets distorted easily. it sounds "good" in real life (throaty) but that said i'm not a big fan of loud bikes. if new ones didn't cost $700 i would replace them.

  • @kobifuzz1
    @kobifuzz1 Před 12 lety

    (in order) first i changed the sprockets to reduce rpm at speed, then i put foam hand grips on, then Vibranator bar end weights, then replaced all rubber engine mounts ... all of those helped a little but unexpectedly the thing that made a huge difference was mounting an original GE radio control box to the handlebar mount- that took out all of the vibration. admittedly this is not for everyone but i guess a 3 pound piece of aluminum will do the trick!

  • @kobifuzz1

    I try to ride this one to work about once a week. Maintenance is easy with the books..i seem to have to synch the carbs twice a year to keep it happy. A 1" shorter windshield would be nice but I paid for this one so its a matter of principal now.
