Hiking 66 Miles on the Four Pass Loop Solo
This is an extended version of the Four Pass Loop that includes an additional 4 passes adding Capitol Lake and 40 miles to the hike. I call it the 8 Pass Loop. In my opinion, Capitol Lake was the absolute highlight of the whole trip. Definitely worthwhile adding it to your plans. In addition, the added section from the Snowmass Creek Trailhead to Geneva Lake was far less busy and I had the trail largely to myself.
Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE and give a thumbs up to stay up to date. I'll be soon heading to the Dolomites in Italy for 100 miles on the ALTA VIA 2!

      @@TallJoeHikes Hi! Sort of half and half, though the high snow year last year made me decide to leave out a section and start further north than I'd planned. I did a bit of Oregon and all of WA NOBO, then flipped down to Lake Tahoe and went SOBO from there. I think it worked really well - sort of got to pick the season for each section - but didn't have a very social trail experience. I'm going to go back and try to thru hike it to pick up the section I haven't done, and if I miss sections I've already done next time I'll be okay with that and just consider it two long-ass section hikes!

    • @TallJoeHikes
      @TallJoeHikes Před 2 měsíci

      Two very long-ass section hikes!! Haha. I totally understand missing out on the social part. During my NOBO AT thru hike I went with the bubble and met a lot of people. For the PCT I thought I wanted something different and although I met some really great people.. there were also more lonely days than I expected. If I was to do the PCT again, I think I would go north. NOBO would be a completely different experience on the same trail. I hope you have a great experience next time around! Have fun!
