I am in the process of recreating the Storch in 80% with folding wings for trailer storage. 147 hp rotax as well all made of CF.
It sure was dry John hopefully they have had some rain the last few weeks
Looking very dry out that way.
Cool video Mate! Is that a Slepcev or a Pazmany Stork?
Thanks mate, it's a Slepcev Storch SS4
@@storchman7314 They've always interested me but I fly a tractor gyro in the Idaho Rocky Mts.
I almost purchased a Gyrocopter before I purchased the Storch. Gyrocopter would be alot of fun
@@storchman7314 They are perfect for lower & slower. I fly a Pitbull with a Subaru, the only other one still flying is ironically in NZ. I found mine on Barnstormers in Canada.
Your Gyrocopter would be perfect for spotting wild hogs
Another top video. Thank you for posting
Thanks for the support
I hope you isolated the storch before you went underneath and filled out a pride😁😁
Ha ha , the bomb tank could have exploded you think
great vid
who is this guy, I wish to meet him one day
Thanks Chazleberg
Wow, last time I saw a Storch was a video from 1944 ;)
It's a 3/4 scale replica of a Fiesler Storch with similar performance. Thanks for watching 👍
@@storchman7314 Oh nice, crazy how an eighty year old design is still viable
Yes it has similar performance to real Storch but with only a 100hp engine and carry only two people
You definitely found the wet spot.
In the state of MN that would be illegal you would lose your plane and go to jail
Do you mean for the German markings Moo Man ?
If Mn ever got a hog problem ; that rule would be dropped for hog hunting.
I’ve got to know more about that airplane. Is there’s plans availed? Looks like she performs like the real ones.
It is a Slepcev Storch iv with a Rotax 912s 100hp and is a 3/4 scale version of the German fi156 Feisler Storch used during ww2. I think Slepcev where selling plans but they have stopped building kits and factory built aircraft. That's about all I know but I'm sure you could find more on the Web. I hope that helps and thanks for watching.
I bet the old emu's laid soft shell eggs after that.✈
Ha ha no I tried to not frighten them too much 😅
I bet you would like to have a go in that p51 mustang.
Sure would John, it would be a handful 😉
Great to see you up and about again I see you have had a lot of rain as well hopefully not affecting crops or live stock to much.
Thanks Craig yes we have had alot of rain this year. Alot of people did not put their crops in because too wet and those that did were very late planting. The crops will be low yield because of the late planting and will probably be a wet harvest. Some planted Canola by spreading the seed from Ag planes because couldn't plant with tractors. Thanks for watching mate
Checking periodically for another new video
Yes I need to make another video soon Tim, thanks for the support.
id be taking the chainsaw to the airstrip next time i had it in my hand
Ha ha I think my wife might not be happy with me chopping the trees down, but yes you are right it would make it easier 😀
I wish I had condition like that to fly, I got a 2006 Slepcev Storch with rotax 912S, only been running 86 hours since new.
Wow that is a low time Storch, mine has just clicked over 1200 hrs was built yr 2001. I average around 100 hrs a year. Yes the flying is the best during winter in Australia, summer is okay early morning and late afternoon but too hot and bumpy during middle of the day. Thanks for watching enjoy your Storch they are alot of fun 👍
you've got a belly tank - extra fuel -is it 3 and a half gallons or litres
Yes it is Greg a 60ltr tank it has been very useful, can get around 7hrs flying with the belly tank. Thanks for watching 👍
Great machine. Looks like a lot of fun being air support.
Yes it is Dave and rewarding if I find something for the hunters. The Storch is nice and slow for spotting as well.
Yee Haww! Looks like fun!
Yes it was good fun with my lovely wife, I would have landed but too many camper's around. Thanks for the support Levi
i see a lot of Rudder action on Take Off and Landing ??
Yes mate doing the old dance
Good to see the dam full again looked like good weather for flying.
Yes it sure is John
Is that a rocket launcher under the plane?
Ha ha no that's a long range fuel tank red rider, good to have you back
Is your plane like the cub they use in Alaska have been watching a guy trapping and billie moll adventures. Stuart Palmer Adelaide Sth Australia
Yes Stuart similar as they both share similar construction materials and flight performance. A bit like comparing a Holden car to a Ford car but achieve the same purpose. I hope that answers your question
How good those boys are better than me if I tried to shoot from a bike I'd shoot myself the bike and then the plan would crash on me🤣 Great episode the storch looks great👍🏻
Thanks Craig your right its not that easy to shoot off a bike the boys did well as the haven't been shooting for a long time. The lad on the 4 wheel motorcycle only learnt to ride it 1hr before. Thanks for watching
Badass
Thanks mate
Cool video. Nice work with the 360 camera.
Thanks Levi
Hi "storch Man" I had an incident in my own Storch I probably should pass on to you. Can I PM you?
Thanks Geoff you could just let me know what happened on the comments if you like 👍
Sure. My beast is about 20 years old now and on landing a mains gear support strut broke allowing the right main wheek to twist out instigating a violent ground loop. I can only offer to really check where the foot peg is on the strut for cracks below the footpeg itself. After spinning around 270 degrees the right hand undercarriage collapsed. Ugly
I will do thanks mate, I had a hair line crack in the chrome moly attachment point linkage between main gear strut and axle, I disassembled it and had it repaired. Thanks again
@@storchman7314 Fantastic camera work on your movie. What's the camera set-up?. It works a treat.
I use a "Insta 360" camera attached to the lift strut on a selfie stick, & my Storch was built 2001 so about the same age as your Storch 😁
Awesome! Just watched this again. We have pigs in Texas too and I have spotted them in both the Kitfox and the Storch. However, I've never had a ground crew to shoot. Tried shooting them from the airplane...fun but not very effective.... ha ha ha.
Ha ha yes alot of fun Levi. I have a UHF cb radio in the Storch to direct the ground crew. The ground crew drive the perimeter of the fields and I patrol out from them so they are not far away from me when I spot something. I also hold the pigs in the open until the ground crew get there, just like herding cattle. Just stay off the pigs a bit otherwise the pigs will split if you fly straight at them. I have also put the ground crew at a point on the ground in hiding where the pigs are going to pass through a hole in a fence and herd the pigs towards the ground crew. Look forward to some hunting videos from you. Really good to have you back all the best from Australia 🇦🇺 👍
czcams.com/video/mZHZM9fAAhQ/video.html The action from the ground I apologise for my brothers swearing.
What is the wing construction and are they removable?
The wings are made of aluminium, the flight controls are are aluminium internals and fabric skinned. The fuselage is chrome molly steel covered with fabric. Thanks for watching
Nice desert camouflage on Fieseler Storch .
Thanks Rudy it gets a few looks
Вообще то присутствуют и кресты. Времен второй мировой войны. Только зачем они? И что на гербу изображено?
Cool. Are you ever worried about over hanging power lines especially the single stranded line?
Thanks Cjeremie, yes constantly looking for power lines, if I'm landing off airport I fly over the possible landing zone to check for powerlines, uneven ground and fences before committing to a landing. I do three passes at lower and lower heights before landing. It can look like a good place to land at 500ft agl , but like whoops on a motocross track at ground level. Thanks for watching I hope that answers your question.
I see you spend some time at Port Headland a good mate of mine flys paramotors from the show ground his name is Adrian 👍
Another great show I've been wondering for a while now how does the Storch manage air fuel ratio at altitude is she injected or car by. Keep up the great work👍🏻
Thanks Craig the Storch is twin carburettor. Rotax 912s 100hp
@@storchman7314 Cool I'll do some research, it's nice to see someone else is up at this stupid hour thanks mate and merry Christmas to you and the family safe holidays 👍🏻🥳🍺🇭🇲
Mate what a dream!!
Thanks mate, alot of fun
@@storchman7314 I personally fly a KIEBITZ biplane but I wouldn't mind flying a storch! What part of Australia are you?
@@MrMadFrench Central NSW
My family is originally form Quirindi. If you happen to come to Europe make sure you drop by Normandy and I'll bring you up above the D-day landing beaches
@@MrMadFrench thanks Alex very kind of you will do
Got to say it again - that's a gorgeous beast; and good to see you back in the saddle. Looks like you're wetter than the Top End right now!
Thanks mate yes has been wet so haven't been flying as much 😉
Looking good out your way.
Yes John very wet affecting the harvest
I saw the swastika and figured I was watching another Idaho STOL video.
Thanks for watching mate
Is this the storch alby mangels used or owned?
No it isn't mate
This is the coolest video CZcams has ever recommended to me ahahaha
Thanks mate for watching
Mate, I flew my Slepcev Storch between 2000 and 2009 before I sold it. It looked exactly the same. Rego No. is S 3394. I just wonder.....
Claus this is definitely your old Storch I'm the 4th owner. You could tell me what the smoking Bumble bee smoking on the cowling means ?
@@storchman7314 TNX for coming back Mate. The smoking bumble Bee, wouldn't have a clue, was Nestor's idea! Anyway I like to see my previous most beloved Storch in very good hands. This A/C is a life insurance; so gentle, forgiving and can be landed almost anywhere. To me as a German migrant it was dream to come true to become a owner of this beautiful A/C. I clocked some 650 hours before I sold it. I miss it but quit full size flying (oldie 77 years)! Good luck and all the best. Give my greetings to S3394 please. Cheers, Claus; BTW Can you check if the Rec/Reg "Power Mate" is still fitted?
Yes Claus the powermate rec is still fitted, Claus did you build powermate rectifiers ?
@@storchman7314 Yes, I designed /manufactured Powermate and fitted it to my Storch in 2000.
I actually bought a powermate rectifier from your house in Brisbane over 20yrs ago for rotax 582 fitted to a thruster ultralight. So I have actually met you, all the best I'll have to make some more videos. Cheers
A great flight The German translation someone posted was ‘I see the Nuremberg city arms on it’
Oh okay thank you, I was not sure what he or she had said lol
If only you could mount guns and do fly bys.
Ha ha yes would be good 👍
Seh` ich da das Nürnberger Stadtwappen dran??
I see the Nuremberg city arms on it
Hmmmm, a scaled down Feisler Fi 156 Storch. Obsolete mid 1930's design, check. Slow as hell, check. Ugly with long spindly legs, check. But is there a better design for the purpose? None that I can bring to mind. I love obsolete, slow, ugly aircraft that more than eighty years after the design first took to the air, have yet to be beat as a working tool for the purpose.
Nothing will be as short or as tough as Maulguy...pretty arrogant guy in my opinion..Short with trees, fences 4' tall grass any obstacle that can cause death is an obstacle... unless your from alaska and you think everything is more challenging because its Alaska...by the way we fly out of 5600 ft elevation with density altitudes in the summer of 9000 or more..what's maulguys density altitude??? come land in Leadville Co. on a hot summer day...see what you think is a one way strip!!!!!!!!
Yes agree country flyer , my airstrip is only 960ft amsl but I only have 100hp carburetted engine. I do have alot of respect for what the guys in Alaska are doing, very similar to the pilots flying in Papua New Guinea. I thought it would be a bit cheeky if I made a video of my own airstrip even though I generally only use about 1/3 of my runway, but why make it more risky than it has to be. Cheers Storchman
Guy from Alaska here, my instructor and I would often take a c170B into some super short strips and gravel bars. In fact, he wouldn’t sign me off in the TW until I can land about a 300-380 ft gravels strip proficiently. This strip is located at the base of an actually runway but most pilots don’t land the actually pavement.
Great photography well done, I have flown your storch and have one.
Thanks mate
What kit/plans is this from, and did you build it? Thanks
The aircraft is a Slepcev Storch and this one was factory built year 2001 in Australia. The factory has moved to Serbia but not sure if they are still building them, you will have to try and contact Nestor Slepcev on his internet site.
@@storchman7314 Rodger that. I’ve sent a couple of emails but no reply. I have found a place that claimed to sell the plans but I’m leery to send them $. Will have to do some more research. Your plane looks fantastic and glad your getting hours on it. Ive seen only one Slepsev storch up here in Alaska and I really want to increase that number as it’s a perfect aircraft for up here. Thanks for the reply.
Beautiful !!!
Keep finding these and I can not wait to get one.
