      In a deleted scene Polly is giving Suzanna a tour of the ward where she tells her what everyone did to get in there. She points to Cynthia and said “She’s in here because her parents don’t like the way she dresses.” Really sad and interesting.

She pushed daisy to suicide, humiliated daisy and the other girls, liked controlling the girls, Physically and verbally abused the others to the point where they all feared her, was super charismatic, disregard for laws, and steals money out of a dead person's pockets?       In Susana's final voiceover, she says something to the effect of, "Being crazy isn't burying a dark secret; its you or me, amplified." I agree that most people exhibit the signs of BPD. The degrees to which it presents are really the only thing that's different.

      @@marijanuzdic2083 if you have BD you have it mainly because you Do have empathy, cry for minor things, suffer more than most people do even it's Just for a muddy, old, homeless dog that nobody looks twice at. You have no idea to judge without knowing people.It is possible for a person with BD not to feel empathy only if he or she is numb with his or her own mania.

      @@amyhotspot2631 Not true, here's a thing,my mother is a psychologist, since I was 13 I have been reading and studying psychology, besides that now I am a psychology student. Whoever is diagnosed with any type of personality disorder has to be at least 18. People that have been diagnosed with PD(a R E A L psychologist/psychiatrist diagnosed them) are notorious for lack of empathy, being manipulative and lack of emotions. BPD is definitely specific but if you do have empathy and specific emotions but most other symptoms of BPD you are BIPOLAR. I am literally talking facts from approved books and years of experience. Most of my family have some type of mental disorder so yeah I kinda feel like I know a bit more than just someone who did online test to see if they have a real mental disorder. Please dont spread false information.

      @@MIHELISHAR Sociopaths are prone to mood swings. I've heard the two disorders are often mistaken for each other, especially in women. They can have sudden bursts of intense emotion that don't last long and end as suddenly as they begin.

      @@bugeye8749 its a fair question. As long as you practice safe sex and dont play games with peoples emotions, whats wrong with it? For example in the movie Susanna has a bf but has sex with the orderly, well at least makes out with him and gives him a bj, a few times. Theyfre friendly but dont really know eachother, arent in a relationship and probably wont see eachother again when she leaves... but in those moments he lifts her spirits and they both get to escape for a while and have fun. As long as theyre both up front thst this isnt serious-whats wrong with it? Who's hurt?

      @@merkitten953 oh dear....ok in this case the thing that's wrong is that he is an orderly in a position of power over a patient in a facility. just like how a teacher is not to engage in sexual activities with a student, even an 18 year old senior, or how a superior is not supposed to engage in sexual activities with a subordinant. the power disparity is what makes it wrong. yes both legal adults but she's supposed to be in a place of care and he's supposed to be in a trusted position.

      But that being said are you saying there shouldn't be mental health representation in film and tv I think people forget this is based off a autobiography by Suzanna based on her journals she kept why in the facility Given that information on different disorders are always changing you shouldn't bash a movie that was made in the1990’s but set in the mid-’60s that's based of a book based on notes from a girl who was going through a huge traumatic life-changing moment and while on drugs I think they did a great job showing how it does feel like it's you and your fellow patient's against the system that by diagnosing you into any disorder alienates you from ’normal’ society people look at you differently treat you differently or like her parents get annoyed that they have a ’defective’ kid who is gonna mess up the holiday by not get better in a short period of time

    Hmm... true. I was just going by what I've heard, since I haven't read the book. Personally, I don't think Lisa (movie, obviously) was a sociopath, I think she just liked the label because it made her seem "badass" or "in charge" or whathaveyou. It's also likely that they just thought she was mentally ill because she was very... out there, and with this being the 1960's, was unheard of for a woman. o.o

    Roughly it was something about how she couldn't keep her dog because he had burns/scars or something. so she poured gasoline on herself and lit a match to prove so she could keep her dog. All I remember was it was really sad hearing that part.

That's actually interesting because earlier in the movie, Georgina told Susanna that Polly set herself on fire to get rid of a rash that her puppy was giving her, so she could keep it. But then she revealed afterwards that she's a pathological liar, and in this scene, we realize that she was indeed lying about Polly and we can see what really happened to her.
